Amiibo Discussion Thread 2: I Got 99 Pre-orders But A Rosalina Ain't One

I know its all anecdotal but I'm a happy Best Buy.com ship to home customer. Little Mac, Pit and Falcon all arrived in flawless condition.
 
Thinking about opening up one of my Amiibos tonight. Probably someone lame like Peach or Luigi. What is the best way to open them? Anyone have any pointers?

Ive looked up some guides, but im still hesitant to give it a try.
 
Lesson learned everyone when wave 4 is announced and up for preorder don't wait on your ass.

Shulk was open for awhile too as well as Meta Knight
 
So this scalper asshole has me reluctant to help fellow members on here and it sucks. I am now unsure of who to trust and here is an example. Please tell me what you all think and no offense to the member that PMed me but I am going to answer you here and see what others think.

So I get a PM from acejaxx and it says:

Now I did write earlier I got 2 Pits today finally and had 2 more coming in the mail. So I understand others are in need. Buy my first damn thought is, is this that scalper dude?

I write back:
Hi there. I may down the line when I get them all in. I have all so far so I dont need any trades. Honestly my problem right now is with this John scalper bragging about being one of us and grabbing rares for MSRP and shipping when we are trying to help each other out. I dont know who to trust! ha

It sucks too because I have doubles of most the hard to finds. I guess I can go back and look at member post histories but what a pain in the ass. I hope you understand my reluctance at the moment. It isnt out of the question but I need to figure out what I want to do. I am going to put this message in the thread as well as I am trying to figure out the best way to do this.

Now I am just being honest here to show how unsure I am of who to trust so please dont take offense acejaxx. So I check the members history and I am like okay he is a Junior Member (no biggie). He has been a member since 2010 and has almost no posts. So is that a red flag? Many on here I know are legit I see you all post often and have joked back and forth. But when a member contacts me through PM instead of on the thread and he or she never converses with us I feel uncomfortable with giving up my extras.

Can I get a second opinion on this? Am I being to suspicious here? What would you all do? Like I said Acejaxx no offense but these are troubling times in the Amiibo Kingdom.

Honestly, I think you are putting way too much thought into it. You posted you had extras, the dude was asking about them. It's as simple as that. These scalper folks aren't going to need to hit up gaffers for these since they already have 100 preordered.

Worst case, you sell an amiibo to a scalper. they're not evil, it will be ok. There's really nothing that can be done, people are trying to help others, if there are people taking advantage of that, then at least you still tried which is all anybody can do.

Edit: What I would do is ask in the thread again if you have extras to give to see if there are any takers that you are more familiar with, If not, go with the guy that asked about them.
 
This will likely happen.

North America will get the New 3DS and XL when Amiibo support begins. Likely with Majora's Mask remake and likely a lineup for that.

So I want to try out making a custom amiibo, gonna get a Kirby seems it seems perfect to practice it up with it, its so round.

What materials are recommended, any videos out there, anyone tips from anyone that has tried it already.

I named my Zelda Hylia and put her in all white (she's Hylia reincarnated into human form, at least in
Skyward Sword
) and named Samus SA-X from Metroid Fusion and gave her the light purple suit

I'm hoping they release some Zelda ones. I'm on the fence with whether to get Zelda and Sheik, cause I wouldn't mind having them with Link, but I wonder if they're going to release different ones when Zelda Wii U and/or MM.

I used to make custom heroclix and I used something literally called "green stuff" from a local hobby store. The way it works is you have a piece of something like taffy. One side is blue, the other lime green. You pull off what you need and mix the two together like silly puddy. It becomes dark green and you can mold it and stick it to any plastic at this point. Just let it sit for about a half hour before you paint it!
 
I still want to know how exactly we are absolutely certain Rosalina will be that limited? Comparing the fact all other exclusives were available for WEEKS does it not stand to reason that we cam expect that same amount of stock for Rosalina in store?

I mean my fear is that after all the effort I put in to trying to obtain a Rosalina (for those that don't know my story refer to the old thread.) that she will be as plentiful as Mario per target store...
And judging by the amount of sleep I've lost hoping the preorder link for Rosalina goes live I would not doubt in anyway that will be the case...

I've reached the point where I'm not going to bother trying to pre-order a Rosalina. I'll walk into Target the morning of release and see what I can get. If some jerkoff buys the entire stock to sell online, so be it. I just hope stock is plentiful to bite those type of people in the ass.

Wow thanks gonna look this up, a friend also recommended me sculpey and that acrylic paint worked well enough. Although I like that "green stuff" seems to stick to the plastic.

I really really am starting to believe that she will be pretty plentiful shes a Mario line character for 1 and for 2 target has seen the demand they will ask for more they want the sales. Its there exclusive and they will want to fill all orders. I really think betting on her rareness is a losing bet. If anythi given her being a Mario lime character she will be most plentiful of the 4 exclisives.

Target limiting her stock would also be stupid. They want people to buy her and come into the store to buy other Amiibo and games. To limit her would only force people to buy from online third-party sellers or import. It would be in their best interests to have her readily available for a couple of months.

Yeah im also anxious to see if we get a restock between now and feb. of the rare ones... Will be interesting to see cause i dont think that Nintendo will leave the shelves as bare as they are till then or it would be a poor choice to do anyway...

You can buy it online on Amazon, and what's amazing, if you buy it on Amazon JP, you can use Tenso, which just lowered their service rates.

It's only $10 - $15 more expensive, but what's exclusive is exclusive.

I don't know if I'd get my hopes up. A weekend or two back, Toys R Us got timed-exclusive Skylanders packs. Day of, I couldn't find one of the elements. Day after, all gone. They currently sell for ~twice MSRP on ebay.

Now Rosalina, she has the Amiibo frenzy behind her. Even if she's well stocked, scalpers will swoop (have you seen how much pre-orders are selling for on eBay?). And the good ones will do their damnedest to make sure she never hits the floor.
 
Really bummed I haven't been able to pre-order Rosalina still. The two times I thought I had a chance I was too slow apparently because they were gone super quick. And I've been sick the last three days so I haven't been able to go looking for Pit which I still can't find either. Why does this have to be so maddening.

Oh you know I'm not getting my hopes up im just stating what i think will happen. I really believe she will wind up in ample supply. It could jist as easily not happen but ill get one one way or another.
 
There are now 2 listings for Wii Fit Trainer on target.com the new one was added receny but both say out of stock for now...
 
I'm thinking, in terms of exclusive rareness, Rosalina and Lucario will be easier to find than Shulk and Meta Knight.

I do believe that Ike and King DeDeDe will be even more rare than any of the exclusives.

King DeDeDe and Shulk are probably the rarest. Ike can be easier to find.

Hah, my Yoshi is blue and also named Boshi. I have a Pikachu named Pikachudo. I'm teaching it to grab and throw.

The reason why I suspect Rosalina might be hard to find is because someone mentioning earlier how Target often doesn't replenish stock of their exclusive Skylanders figures compared to TRU, Best Buy, and Walmart. It's just conjecture, but it's a good a guess as any. Nintendo will only make more retailer exclusives if the retailer orders them.
 
i think Ike will be another hard to find one if Marth was any indication. FE series is not as popular.
 
Dammit! I had no yearning for the villager Amiibo but then I played as him for one of the first times tonight with a bunch of friends. Now I must have his amiibo, that tree attack is too funny.

Don't suppose anyone wants an unopened Pit for an opened villager 😬
 
If I had to guess, I'd say all the retailer exclusives are going to be hard to get, especially Shulk. I think that Rosalina will be pretty hard as well. I just haven't seen Target invested in Amiibo's. However, maybe they see the demand? I sure hope so.

Also, I wouldn't count her availability based on the fact that she's part of the "Mario" universe. Most people probably don't know who she is.
