Amiibo Discussion Thread 2: I Got 99 Pre-orders But A Rosalina Ain't One

I can hit all 3 stores in a row. AND they are all next to each other. That said, this is assuming these stores even get stock. Also, who's to say that scalpers won't be lined up early just to buy it all out. So many factors I have zero control over. =/

I hope the closer we get to the release, we will know 100% that it will be out on the 1st. I would feel more at ease, if I knew the exact day I need to go. I have a GAF friend on the East Coast that is going to stay in contact with me. Since he's 3 hours ahead, he will go to his stores to grab them. And he will try to grab extras of the exclusives. If he can't get some, I'll know to get the one's he's missing.

So working with another person can be helpful.

Yikes. Just got all mine in last night on their store. I set it to IN STORE PICKUP. God I hope this doesn't fall through. Please please, allow me to pick all them up in store. I hope this works.

I've been trying to team up with someone for a while. If I get an extra Meta Knight or Shulk I'll gladly trade you. I preordered two Lucarios so maybe there's a trade for you too! If I get extras I'll for sure be back of GAF looking for what's missing.

I'm going to go with the Mrs (if she's up for it) so hopefully we're able to get two Rosalinas and/or Meta Knights. I feel like stores will either limit 1 per person or they'll just let the scalpers run for their lives towards the Amiibos. Ugh I don't want to run, please! Going to look like fools.... Hopefully all the scalpers sleep in...

Cool. I'll PM you. We can exchange info (like which Amiibos we want the most, and which ones to look out for). Then I can pick up extras in case you don't get one. And of course, they will all be at the $12 retail price. Fuck scalping. Or in some cases, we will just outright trade amiibo for amiibo. Either way works.

For sure! We should def talk more. In a perfect world we would all have one each of the exclusives, that includes scalpers. I feel like our only hope to get all 4 exclusives is to team up. Good luck all!

I'm wondering if Nintendo has seen that they have so much demand that they might up the price to $19.99 each. Let's be honest; they would still sell out.
 
I just picked up Smash Bros and was thinking of getting a companion Amiibo just for shits and giggles.

The only one I like is Samus, though... which raises the question: in what games will this Amiibo have any use apart from Smash?

They won't, the dream is to get them for 12.99.

That said, Gamestop can totally open shulks and sell them "Used" for 20 bucks.

Still can't find Pit and still can't get a Rosalina pre-order in. I was checking ebay last night and saw a Villager up for $50 or best offer. Seller wouldn't even take a $40 offer which I felt terrible for even making. Had a moment of weakness and kind of happy they didn't accept it. Even $30 is too much for me to pay for any of these no matter how much I want it.

Certain amiibos (Samus included) unlock special Mii outfits in Mario Kart 8. All amiibos give prizes like rupees in Hyrule Warriors. That's all Samus is currently compatible with besides Smash.
 
I actually think the Mario amiibo is probably the single best-looking one, but no one cares about Mario because he's so common. The pose is perfect, the fireball is awesome, no ugly support needed

Yeah, he's pretty bad-ass. Honestly a lot of my favorites are the commons, but I can only spend so much on amiibos so I pass on them so I don't miss out on the rares. Luckily I got Mario for Christmas. :P
 
So the 1/15 thing is legit. Just talked to a guy at the store. Sounds like they only have 7 of each though that they are holding back from stocking so it's still going to be tough to find one. This is at a major location too. If you show up early enough you should be able to grab both.

So I just finished Bayonetta 2.

Now I need a Bayonetta amiibo, but outside of Zero Suit Samus customs, I think we may never get one.
 
Bought Yoshi and Diddy at Target
A friend is sending me Link, Samus and Kirby as a gift.

With that, I'll have 11/18.
Of course, that second number is going to skyrocket come February. Hopefully NoA shapes up by then... and we don't get any mariotehplumber type assholes.
 
I've tried contacting my local target (canada) about rosalina and they didn't have a clue what I was talking about. So chances are they either a) wont be getting it or b) will get 1 or 2 which will be snatched up by some local students.

Since that's the most likely case, it turns out I MAY have an extra Shulk to trade with someone if they get a Rosalina. The only reason I say 'may' is because I pre-ordered two, one for me and one for my friend. However, if they don't want it, I'll have an extra one to trade. Anyways, if anyone is in the Hamilton-Toronto region and wants to possibly trade a Rosalina for Shulk when the time comes, hit me up with a PM. I'd rather not resort to selling the Shulk for high prices unecessarily.

Honestly, the stock situation with Amiibos in inner Sydney, Australia is fucking ridiculous though. Literally everywhere is sold out of everything. I personally work in supply chain and I don't know how Nintendo has managed to fuck this up. People could lose interest if they don't rectify the situation.

People didnt loose interest in skylanders when activision was going through the same problem as nintendo is now. Took activision over a year to get it right with skylanders but also in doing so they created way to much stock and left retailers to eventually put them on fire sale and sell them really cheap to move stock for the next set of figures.
 
Well well, TRU actually delivered and I got my Pit delivered today! Really nice looking figure, in fact I haven't seen any common paint problems or otherwise with any Pits.
 
That shit is hilarious. I'm not even stressed about it. I would ultimately find it even more funny if Target cancels that shit out of spite if the story reaches a wide enough social sphere.
