Wave 1 is getting phased out is probably the reason.
Until I see Peach and Mario leave, I'm not holding my breath, as much as phasing out Wave 1 is completely necessary at this point. I'm tired of seeing them.
My wife always says "it isn't worth anything if you aren't going to sell it".
Which you're right. I won't ever sell my stuff. Never have yet. Hahaha. My wife is right!
How did I just now realize Toon Link unlocks Link's costume in Mario Kart 8? Now I've got the Samus, Kirby, Link, and Fox costumer unlocked. I might buy Yoshi just because he's common and his costume looks cool.
Too bad I don't like any of the female Amiibos, so my costume collection will never be complete.
By that logic, a scalper derives enjoyment from the profit he makes off selling them. I just think Amiibos should go to people who will use them for their intended purpose.
Wish I could find a Captain Falcon that doesn't cost $30.![]()
I caved in and bought the good Captain for $30 earlier today. :-(Wish I could find a Captain Falcon that doesn't cost $30.![]()
TRU like usual, screws up any exclusive item
after seeing the shipment figures for the other wave 3 figures, im shocked rosalina's launch was so huge. even a good number of high volume targets didn't get over 10 of TL/bowser/sheik.
also, bowser figure is huge in person. color me impressed.
just knowing that makes me want to buy a set on sunday >____>
Someone tweet NeoGAF Shit Posts.
Plenty of Bowser, decent amount of Toon Link at my store (Best Buy). No Meta Knight at all.
Are they going to start selling tomorrow?
The market doesn't work like this. I don't think it's any business of ours what others are using them for.By that logic, a scalper derives enjoyment from the profit he makes off selling them. I just think Amiibos should go to people who will use them for their intended purpose.
I mean I admit that I've done this. I bought the recent Atelier LE because it looked nice and because it might be valuable at some point. I might keep it or I might sell it. I dunno what I'll do with it, I guess it depends on how much I like the preceding games. What I do know is that it's no one's business what I do with the things I buy.Interesting to see the opinions on this.
Many people buy rare items such as Collectors Editions, rare games and limited edition consoles etc due to them being a rare and collectible item with value.
Do you really think all the people that got that special anniversary PS4 are actually using it?
You can see plenty of sealed collectibles in many pictures people post here of their collections that include Amiibos.
This is getting ridiculous.
I buy 1 of each and display them in their box. Currently trying to find a good case to display them in their boxes.
Just because I see their value and how it can increase over time is not a bad thing. It's what collectors do. I also keep track of my collections worth for insurance purposes. There is a lot of money in my man cave.

I personally don't care what people do with them, it would just be a shame to see an Amiibo go to a collector who's never going to take it out of its box, versus a 10 year old boy who just wants to use his main in Smash Bros.
Exactly my point. My nephew loooooves Little Mac and I paid scalpers' prices to get him one. Maybe I wouldn't have had to if he wasn't sitting in a box collecting dust in a collector's basement.
True, but on the other hand it's kind of a shame that little Billy can't use his favourite Amiibo in a game just because some neckbeard bought the last one only to keep it in storage for 50 years.
*Extreme examples*

No, to both of these. The issue at hand is still that Nintendo has created a situation with ridiculous amounts of scarcity. There should be enough that everyone can do what they want with them, collect or use them. There are people who collect and store DI and Skylanders figures. But the companies who produce those actually produce enough that all kinds of consumers can be satisfied.I personally don't care what people do with them, it would just be a shame to see an Amiibo go to a collector who's never going to take it out of its box, versus a 10 year old boy who just wants to use his main in Smash Bros.
Also disagree with this. Christ almighty, no one is forcing you to do anything.Nope, it's not really equivalent, because a scalper who buys these things en masse for money is deliberately obstructing other people's enjoyment and taking advantage of their desperation, forcing them to shell out around five times the retail price before they can have what they want.

Little Billy's situation isn't the fault of some collector. It's the fault of retailers and Nintendo.

Like I said, I don't think it's really how business how they're distributed and used. The only thing that I'd like to see happen is a per customer limit imposed by retailers. Other than that, what happens happens.I don't think anyone disagrees with this. What we're discussing is how we think the few that are available should be used/distributed.
But this isn't even something I'm passionate about, I honestly can understand a collector's reasoning. I just don't have the same motivation.
Right, but you are giving powers to scalpers by purchasing the product. Be patient. Pester Nintendo. Hell, go without. No one needs these things. They're a collectible commodity.Well yeah if you're going to nitpick of course no-one is technically forced to do anything, but unfortunately these things are so rare in some locations that buying them online for exaggerated prices is rapidly becoming the only solution to get certain figures for people who really want them. Which is a damned shame.
Interesting to see the opinions on this.

I pre-ordered Toon Link within seconds of it going up on Amazon. My estimated delivery is sometime in March![]()
So they aren't, atleast in other countries? Well thats good. Won't be able to get Mega Man until March so at least it seems like I have a chance.I don't know why I thought Sonic and Mega Man would be super rare. I guess it's the guest character thing?
And has anyone had issues with Wal-Mart keeping to their pre-orders?
Have to say, we should all recognize how frustrating this whole situation must be for store employees as well. They have hardly any control on the situation and I am sure they are often treated like dogs by irrational customers.
I was at GameStop getting a new Wii Remote for MPT and the guy there was so friendly on the phone. He told the customer to call back every day for updates, but when he got off the phone, I could tell the whole situation was stressing him out.
Just a heads up, the store employees are really trying to help.
Yeah my Target guy told me to call back every day, but I feel kind of bad so I've just resorted to going and checking in person.Have to say, we should all recognize how frustrating this whole situation must be for store employees as well. Yeah, the two employees at mine are rather nice & I can sometimes get into discussions with them, probably the only store where I feel like I can just talk to them like my normal self. One said to check everyday via phone, but I know I shouldn't bother them that often, especially when I have sources on here. I might start calling when it gets closer to Shulk's release date or I can quick swing by in person & check and help the employee/s pass the time when it can be considered slow.Have to say, we should all recognize how frustrating this whole situation must be for store employees as well. I'm really happy with the quality of Shulk.

Hey amiibros, glad to see many of you scored a Lucario (or two) today!
I, on the other hand, completely struck out on new amiibos today. :S
I was at the TRU in Bloomingdale, IL about ~15 mins before opening chatting with 2 other amiibros when an employee came out and let us know that they only had enough for pre-orders.
I decided to hang out in case they had any other new amiibos in-stock and enjoyed chatting with the 5-6 other amiibo fans that showed up shortly before opening, but sadly the store had absolutely nothing from Wave 3.
I have a Lucario pre-ordered on ToysRUs.com (post-cancellation BS) & also via eBay so hopefully they'll come through for me.
Also, my Bowser, Toon Link, & Sheik orders shipped from Best Buy earlier today!
I scoped out several other stores (TRU = Toys R Us, BB = Best Buy, GS = Gamestop) on my way home and here's what I saw from Wave 3:
TRU1: Nothing
BB1: Nothing
GS1: Nothing
Target1: Nothing
GS2: Bowser
TRU2: Bowser (TONS of them!)
BB2: Nothing
Target2: Nothing
The day wasn't a total loss though!
I found these cool Nintendo plushies:

I got the Mario & Pikmin ones at Target, Mega Charizard Y at TRU, and the other Pokemon at Savers ($2.99 for the pair!).
And then this just sorta happened:

I got Aladdin earlier in the week, found the 3 Marvel figures at Goodwill this morning, and then found a lone Jasmine at Best Buy (is she supposed to be out yet??) & was happy to learn that GCU works on DI figures too!
I then decided to pick up Anna, Elsa, & Donald at Target while they were on sale for $10 a pop and wanted to get Stitch as well but they didn't have him in-stock. I stopped by my local Target, grabbed Stitch, and took a quick look at the clearance end-cap where I found the PS4 Starter Pack tagged $20.09!!
I didn't plan to buy DI and I'm still only going to buy figures of my favorite characters, but I couldn't pass up the game bundle at that price.![]()
