Wave 3 is going to be my downfall

I'm getting Meta Knight, King Dedede, Bowser, Toon Link, and Mega Man for sure
And Ike and Shulk if their faces are good

I'm honestly surprised by how well Amiibo seem to be selling. I knew plenty of people on gaf and hardcore Nintendo fans in general were planning on buying at least 1, but I didn't expect sellouts.

I haven't see any amiibo commercials on tv, but I guess Nintendo is hitting their audience somehow.

Or we'll see lots of returns when kids/parents realize they don't work with Skylanders/Disney Infinity!

So I've decided to try and start off getting the more rare ones - Marth and Wii Fit Trainer I managed to get ordered in to my local store, still can't find Villager anywhere though!

Wii Fit Trainer looks good:

I think I lucked out on my Marth (no derp face here!):

I also got a Kirby (just look at that cute chubby ball!) who appears to have some extra touch up above his mouth xD

Now I need to figure out some cool names - I'm thinking K-Puff for Kirby, but not sure about the other two, any good suggestions?

And one of their Skylanders/Infinity displays for comparison. Yes, one of. There's another too, it's smaller but was crowded so I couldn't really take a pic.

Oh man this thread.

I was already planning on picking up Link and Samus on Tuesday when I have a day off, but now I want Yoshi, Kirby and Pikachu as well.

all my amiibos arrived. They all look good except for Marth with warped sword. Guess I lucked out and didn't get any bad ones at all.

bring on wave 2

I hit up a local figures place for Warhammer stuff, found the right paint for Link (green) and Pikachu (black, yellow) to fix some blemishes I noticed. For Pikachu, I fixed his weird coloring on the years and tail.

Mmm, maybe thats not a bad idea. We have like 2 or 3 warhammer stores in the city. I always tired to use real art paint, because thats the one I had.

Anyone bought amiibos in sainsburys?

I didn't, but I was in one of my closest ones yesterday (Hempstead Valley Savacentre) nabbing some food and they had a Marth, a Donkey Kong, a few Mario's Yoshi's, Link's and a couple of Pikachu's. All at £11.99.

The GAME just down from it had Marios, Yoshi's, Peaches, Pikachu's and 2 Wii Fit Trainers.

I bought Smash in GAME and on my way out noticed that you could get an Amiibo for £10 if bought with Smash, so I went back in and grabbed a Mario. The fella said they were honouring the offer for at least the next 30days and as long as I brought the GAME reward card and receipt with me I could get as many as I wanted at £10 each.

My GF went back in with my receipt and card after we shopped and got me a Wii Fit Trainer for Chrimbo (a present from the cats, apparently... stupid woman, lol) and although she managed t get it for £10 it was a different person who served her and by all accounts he did it begrudgingly but was arsey about it.

I wish I had more games with amiibo support. Hopefully Captain Toad and other titles have some good stuff because my amiibo are feeling kind of lonely restricted to Smash and I realized I have nowhere to display them so they'll just go in storage otherwise.

Before I had my hands on them I was tempted to go for a full Pokemon set but now I'll probably just finish my Kirby series trio and leave it at that.

Went into Game as I only wanted Link but got Samus as well.

And today I just ordered Wii Fit Trainer, Donkey Kong and Marth.

Fucking help me.

Kirby is £25 and Yoshi is £20. Fuck that.

Nintendo need to make an Amiibo Land/World game to compete in that segment
They are merely a novelty at the moment

For 50€ I've got SSB for Wii U with so many content and for 13€ each I bought a few Amiibos knowing they're kind of transportable and customizable AI fighters but its mostly a toy.

Mario Maker DLC tied to Amiibos could perfectly do the trick but once again I find it stupid that people are complaining that Nintendo didn't hide more content behind these figurines and ask for a Skylander / Disney Infinity approach. Be prepared because if they listen to some stupid suggestions they could make an almost empty Pokemon game (see Disney Infinity or Skylanders without figurines) and make it only really fun and playable with Pokemon Amiibos.

I'm sorry but even if I would also like some of you be happy to justify a 13€ figurine purchase with more functions I just don't want it to be at the expense of some games' content.

No one cares about Pokemon spin offs though...

Well the Wal-Mart I did site to store with hasn't processed my order yet. Been almost 14 hours. Anyone have experience with them before? I'm worried that they didn't actually have a Marth and I'm stuck.

Worried I may not be able to find a Marth :/ I don't even want him that much, just want the full set!

A completely free eShop title that does nothing without at least one amiibo is what we need. Offer a SKU in stores too where people can get a disc with a couple of amiibo and we might see them getting more shelf space.

Without a real game behind it, amiibos are really not a very good product

Im buying a few amiibos on this never made promise... and if it never happens i cant even complain

Oh dear, I have just jumped on the Amiibo train with Fox and Samus arriving from Amazon through the week and more on the wishlist. Goodbye money, our brief aquaintance was fun while it lasted.

Ugh. My order was canceled. No one around here has them and Best Buy and Toys R Us told me Marth was discontinued.

Has anyone heard of a reprinting or should I buy from a reseller on Amazon?

I've personally went with Kiirbro. No regrets.

Hrmmmm....

I preordered all of Wave 2 and 3 off Amazon Canada and received emails this morning that they are still trying to fulfill my order for Pit, Little Mac and Captain Falcon.

Should I worry?

Had some friends over, we played 8 player smash with everyone having an Amiibo partner. ..it was amazing.
They maxed at lvl 50 in one day and they became considerably better than some of us. My sister wants to get better at smash so she'll be training with her amiibo.

Either GAME had completely sold out of Amiibos or they are lousy at displaying them. Either option seems plausible.

Sainsbury's had a good selection and I grabbed a Samus.

If the hypothetical Pokken amiibos have the same implementation as the amiibos from Smash Bros would you buy them too? Here's the trailer at 0:21 and 0:29 you can see Lucario and Machamp doing poses that really look like amiibos, if they indeed are what else could they do with them besides sparring partners?

Where is this? My TRU has a whole 8ft section crammed full of Amiibo and an interactive display.

I went to Walmart and Target this morning to see if there were any post-Black Friday deals still going on and couldn't find a single Marth or WFT amiibo at either store. They previously had a butt-load of both, so I wonder if they've gone through their stock now. Also, Target didn't have a single Villager amiibo left and I bought the last one my Walmart had (at least the last one out on shelves).

Very cool, next smash will hopefully let you team up online !

Probably sold out, this is the GAME in Manchester Arndale the day after they released:

Compared to:

It's actually surprising that Fox and Samus were the ones left over rather than Marth, Wii Fit Trainer and Villager.

The GF's Link amiibo arrived from Amazon today, and I was very impressed with the quality and detail - no bent sword, face looks fine, detail on shield, scabbard and torso all looks great etc.

I ordered Link and Samus online and Link looks much better than the pics some of you guys have been posting. I'm impressed with it. Samus of course looks great. The quality of the Amiibos is tempting me to buy more. >_<

Good thing is these should basically end up being pure profit to Nintendo. The question won't be IF Nintendo makes a profit on these, but how much it.

Eh, turning a profit on a new initiative for a couple of quarters only to have them reduced to bargain bin/phased out isn't really a great long term strategy. These need to have the staying power of Skylanders and Disney, and without any games to back them up they don't.

The biggest sainsbury close to where I leave does not even sells skylanders. I found a couple in Hamleys but that's it. Anyone can suggest some other cool shop in london? I live close to Victoria

amiibo. Just like Pokemon.

Just wait until Nintendo release a Pokemon game for the Wii U the New 3DS. They'll have to use cards with NFC chips instead so that people have room to store the things. It's going to make the success of amiibo so far look minimal. Pokemon cards with NFC chips is going to be a licence to print money.

Mine Toys R Us started with a 4 foot display and had to expand it to an 8 foot display on the day the figures came out since they were doing so well too

Ours hasn't changed yet, not really selling any since day 1. I can use the gun to see sales wtd if I remember today.

I think this may become problematic.... I feel as though the people who wanted Amiibo's are already getting them, so the demand won't be as great when they increase stock.
But then again, that might be underestimating the demand for these things.

I dunno. I've bought nearly all my Skylanders on clearance. They only have staying power while the hot new game is out then they go into the bargain bin, even though they can all be used in future games. Hopefully releasing in waves with new game support will be good for Amiibos too.

Anyone in Canada able to preorder wave 2 at EB Games yet?

Neither of the stores here have allowed preorders yet and the website shows all 6 as sold out now.

What the shit?
