I wanna ask this again: Do those of you who are worried these will be rare really think they won't be restocked? Do you think the displays at various stores will just be left empty from Christmas until Feb 1st? I can't imagine not seeing a restock right after or even before the holidays.

**Nobody wants to answer that. I am beginning to think we're all crazy and nobody wants any sanity in here.

I'm envious of you all who have a straight Samus.

All the ones I saw, like, EVERY SINGLE ONE I saw were drunk. It's pretty much the only one from wave 1 that I want badly.

Wow this really worries me. I haven't ordered anything from Amazon.com but I pre-ordered a bunch of amiibos from Amazon.ca. Hopefully they'll all come true. If I'm stuck ordering from overseas it ends up costing me twice as much.

Samus is the only one I have but I don't know if mine is a "drunk" one. Do you have a screenshot comparison or something?
 
Ugh.

I have Pit, Falcon and Little Mac (releasing on December 19th) as well as Shulk, Metaknight, King Dedede and Mega Man (releasing February 20th) in an order on Amazon UK. Since they're in one order they're all scheduled to arrive sometime in February. I wanted to see how much extra it would cost to get them sent as they're ready (as in the ones releasing on the 19th shipped out first, then the February ones later) and they want to charge me £36 for shipping them in two boxes. The fuck? It's £5 for shipping them together. Ridiculous
 
I feel like I've been insanely lucky with the Amiibos I've gotten. In that my Samus isn't leaning at all, Marth and Link both have straight swords, and Little Mac is like perfect.

Amazon has refunded me the cost of the order, and said I can keep the Link amiibo.

And apparently will contact me when Marth is back in stock. We'll see, lol
 
Got excited to see the Rosalina & Luma page open. Just waiting on pre-orders for her...

By the time I found it it seemed to already be dead, but I did input my own amiibo ID numbers anyway.

What I've personally found so far is that amiibo from all regions are entirely identical, except for one part of their ID number. Here's what the format of an amiibo 'ID number' (I don't know what else to call it) typically looks like:

000000AAAAX1

This number is printed on the bottom of the figure.

The "AAAA" part is the alphabetic code for that specific amiibo variant. For example, Link is AAAE and Marth is AAAM. This does not change between figures; every Link is AAAE.

The "X1" part is a combination of an alphabet letter and a numeric digit. Every Link that I've seen is "S1", while every Marth that I've seen is "W3". I have no idea what this means, but it seems to be consistent.

However, here is the part that definitely does change, the "000000" part. In practice so far, this has typically looked like "334000" or "374000" or many other variations of that. To keep using Link as an example, I've seen Link figures with any of the following so far: "344000", "364000", "374000", "384000".

As for what this number means, my current hypothesis is that it's a production number. One thing specifically that I noticed is that North American figures tend to have numbers lower on this scale, like "334000", while European and Japanese figures tend to have numbers higher on this scale, like "374000" (or even "394000" for a Japanese Kirby figure I saw). amiibo figures were first released in North America, then Europe, then Japan. This is why I think this number is a production number, or a lot number. It would make sense for Nintendo to have shipped the first batches of figures to North America, then the next ones to Europe and Japan.

And, if this is true, then I suspect we'll start seeing higher numbers in North America as well, since we need to start getting restocks here.

So, after that long story, to answer your question, what it currently seems like to me is that there is literally no difference between, say, a Link amiibo figure from one region vs. a Link amiibo figure from another reason. They seem to be exactly the same, except for what I think is the production/lot number for those two specific figures. But this doesn't change by region specifically. It simply changes based on when the figure was produced. It could be entirely possible that a North American Link figure and a European Link figure could have the same production/lot number. I think.

And that's as far as I've gotten with it so far. I welcome anyone else to contribute to that spreadsheet if you have the time.

That WFT looks awful among the beautiful Nintendo characters. I have her too but my daughter is getting them for Christmas. I am not sure where to place her in relation to the rest. I like how you hid her in the back. Maybe eventually I can hide her behind Bowser and Dedede
 
Kids will be so pissed of next year when that kid brings to school his Marth Amiibo while they all the a common one.
 
I had a drunk Samus as well, so gave in last night and tried the hot water, cold water, technique. It did work. It was a little scary when pulling Samus out of the hot water, because after 30 seconds the figure was really wobbly.

But after straightening and dunking in the ice, none of the paint melted or flaked off. It appears to be perfect.

Thanks! Got the shelves at Target, hold all of our games and Blu-Rays, plus they're high enough on top that my daughter can't get the Infinity figures or amiibo.

She's the odd one out among my current collection, but she still works there.
 
To be honest, I really didn't expect the amiibos to be so successful. And I feel I'm being sucked in by the hype train like an unavoidable black hole. Sadly, I guess it is too late for most figurines. I'll try to find a Link nonetheless for a friend (and a Fox and a Samus for me), though I'm not getting my hopes up.

I wish Link was a little more upright. Looking at him on a flat surface I can't see his face.

And why must one of the characters that I actually want (Marth) be nowhere to be found? I'm not looking to collect everyone. I'm not even looking to get every Nintendo character that I like just a specific few. If I came across Villager or Wii Fit Trainer I'd be happy to let them go for a fair price (less than $20) not disrespect to anyone charging $75 (and if you get $75 for it then good for you) Guess I better preorder Ike.

At this point I like them more because they're cool Nintendo toys rather than any functionality that I get out of them.
 
What is everyone's gameplan on their online orders of Amiibo's? I, for one, am planning on going to the store on release day to grab them, and then if my online orders have not shipped, canceling them, and if they have shipped, returning the extra.

What's your plan?

Same here. Except that I won't cancel any order of any possible rare Amiibo. Since I'll get a second Little Mac this week, I'll try to trade it for a Diddy Kong.
 
I think I'mma leave my amiibos in the box, so I can't even tell if I have a drunk Samus or not.

I don't think any stores even know when they will be able to restock anything. Every store I spoke to seems to be in the dark.

I keep forgetting that amiibos won't end with the Smash Bros lineup. It's already becoming impossible to afford to complete the Smash Bros lineup. There's no way I will be able to collect every future release for other games once they get that going. I may just go back to getting only the ones I want instead of trying to collect them all at this point. Problem is, I've gotten this far for this lineup. I might as well try to complete as much as I can lol. @_@

This is the only series I'm going to try to collect all of them and keep them in their boxes. The rest I'll just buy what I want.

Getting tough though especially with the Marth and Villager hunt.
