Yeah, it's a local chain and they got the whole Wave 3 Amiibos last week but plenty of them went OoS the same day they launched. I've been looking for MegaMan since then so if I don't score one tomorrow I'll be really sad :(
 
So not sure if this has been brought up or not. But there's reason to believe there's not going to be any pre-orders for North America.

Earlier this week there were two members of the Canadian Amiibo thread who were told from their local ebgames (Canada's Gamestop) that they wouldn't be doing pre-orders for wave 4.

Tonight. Walmart Canada stated on their twitter page they won't be doing any pre-orders for the Golden Mario. http://myamiibonews.com/2015/02/gol...art-according-to-their-canadian-twitter-page/

Thoughts? Could the reason why there hasn't been any pre-orders posted yet in NA be because there's not going to be any pre-orders?

Consider us fucked if this is the case. There isn't a store in my state that isn't hit by the same few people who seem to be able to swoop in before any other shopper and grab all the "valuable" amiibo.

Eh, I think they're dated for the end of April right now, and that might be just for Japan with other regions getting them a bit after (I think?). For comparison, I pre-ordered Wave 3 at Gamestop towad the end of December, and they were slated for February 1 at that point.

So we're really still ahead of schedule. Just doesn't feel like it because of the hype that's built.

NOA is probably trying to figure out the best way to distribute the few dozen of each Wave 4 Amiibo they will have for sale to top scalpers.

I think a lot of us were definitely thinking that could be the case, but honestly this would only work if there's a strict 1 per customer limit per amiibo.

So basically I have to get to a store first thing in the morning to have the chance of buying the amiibo I want from wave 4 with the possibility I can't get a ride or for that matter, have finals when they release it, is that right?

Bollocks to that then. I'm not getting screwed out of Lucina, Robin and Ness because NoA couldn't be asked to put up pre-orders under a 1 per costumer policy.
 
I know it's just speculation vs. speculation at this point, but I really don't believe there won't be pre-orders. That would be pretty unprecedented, and what purpose would it serve? Nintendo is clearly aware of the anger they're getting already even if they won't acknowledge it. Just look at comments on literally any amiibo-related social media post they've put up since November.

They can't possibly think cancelling pre-orders would make amiibos MORE easily available....could they....
 
Finally picked up Dedede from Walmart. The guy went into the back for 15 minutes before coming out and saying he couldn't find it. I freaked out and asked him to check one more time. The second time he showed up with a box and I was pretty relieved. Can't believe I'm letting these things get me all worked up.

Anyway, here's my humble collection. I think I'm done with Wave 1-3 unless I get lucky between now and 4.

I would have no chance at Ness, Robin, Lucina if there were no preorders. I'm starting a full time internship in May, so there would be no early morning store visits for me. :/

Depends who's pushing this though. Nintendo clearly had stock problems. How many retailers thought they were getting x amount only to have to turn around and cancel pre-orders and deal with angry customers? Amazon.ca gave credit to many of the Canadian amiibo gaffers for orders they weren't able to fulfill. Some got $30!

If retailers feel they can't rely on Nintendo to fill pre-orders, or Nintendo is worried about stock problems...

I can't imagine Amazon would have any reason to do this.

If that was true, they wouldn't be taking preorders on the Super Mario line. Every time I'm at GS they try to get me to preorder those.

I'm guessing the numbers aren't finalized for stock, which is causing issues for stores like it was before. They also are probably trying to figure out how to make it fair for customers who want these toys, as a lot of resellers try to buy the entire stock or make 100 preorders and that doesn't help when you have 20 people standing outside your store.

Hell, Rosalina was a mess at Target internally. The first store I went to wouldn't even sell it when it was supposed to be out on the floor. If you can't even get internal dates right, there's an issue at play.
 
So no pre-orders and just a free for all mad house to get to them first?

If thats the case, the only option I would personally have would be to import.

If this is true, I will curse Nintendo's name for years.
 
Going to bed now. Tomorrow morning I will go and look for that MegaMan Amiibo since the local chain is supposed to have some more units. I hope the AmiiGods smile upon me come tomorrow.

I better stock up on doubles to trade for wave 4 if there are no pre orders

i can do pre orders of course but waiting before a store opening to get any of wave 4 would be murder
 
If Nintendo were actually being evil geniuses all along about the amiibo stock (and I don't believe that to be the case) this would be the perfect time for the other shoe to drop. Imagine Ness, Robin and Lucina arriving to stores in Peach-level numbers, and a refresh stock on the previous waves. They would be rolling in money.

Thank god I got preorders in at Amazon UK, I guess.

Would be insane if there were really no preorders in NA, was hoping to at least get in store preorders for them at GS :/
Not gonna lose hope yet though.
 
I don't know what I'll do if pre-orders don't happen for W4. I guess I'd try to get Ness and Pac-Man, since that's all I'm after to be finished with the Smash Bros line.

I'd probably contemplate selling off my collection if I couldn't get Ness. Kind of scorch the earth type stuff.

There has to be a kind of insanity and desperation behind a person that would suggest that there is a plan in place to make it so Ness is a commonly available figure. :3
 
I got 2 Lucarios and a Captain Falcon for trade. Looking for Ike, Dedede, Metaknight, or the original trinity (*sad face). Would be better if you're in the DFW area. PM me!

Makes sense. Preorders get fucked due to low supply as Nintendo fails to deliver and the retailers get the anger.
 
Guys that Walmart tweet is likely referring to in store pre-orders which Walmart has never done and will never do for Amiibo. I wouldn't read too much into that.
 
Went by Gamestop to pickup my King DeDeDe and Sonic preorders and they also had Mega Man preorder ready too, I just did not get a call or text that it was there. Now I am done with what I wanted from Wave 3 and just waiting on Wave 4.
 
im gelly of all your stores out there guys. My gamestops out here havent even got their wave 3 preorders yet and they began refunding people because they have no idea when it will come in.
 
Really looking for a Shulk and Little Mac amiibo. (Unopened, any version (preferably Japanese)).

I think Toon Link and Sheik are some what common. There were 7 Sheik and roughly 10 Toon Link at my TRU yesterday. Seems Sheik is just rare on the west coast.
