Can someone explain in perfect English what the point of a dang Gamestop preorder is if they just sell you reservation on a whim?

Called me about Ike last night, go to pick it up as soon as they open.
My name is marked out like I picked it up, girl calls the manager who tells her they sold it to a guy who had multiple preordered so he could have all of them at one time.

Meanwhile im now stuck until a "late spring" shipment.

Never agreed before but Fuck Gamestop.

What makes me really angry though is that I was calling to check like everyday, manager eventually tells me not to worry I will be called.

I think Gold Mario (along with being Wal-Mart exclusive) is where Amiibo's have officially jumped the shark with me. Hopefully I can somehow eventually finish off the Smash line (if wave 4 isn't a total bloodbath), but at this point it seems like Nintendo is just teasing everyone and is trying to make this as much of a craze as it can be.

I'm there with you. This was a breaking point, as, to me, it demonstrates beyond a shadow of a doubt that Nintendo knows exactly what they're doing here and don't give a damn about fans being able to get these in any reasonable fashion. It's all hype, hype, hype. That's fine, that's their prerogative, but it's also my prerogative to get out of the game.

lol dont worry Gold Mario pre orders should arrive in Europe shortly , i doubt these will be NA exclusive

I can't get out of the game at this point with sixteen in the house, but I sure can limit myself. Made two purchases early, early on when I was just starting "just because," but since then I'm only buying the character I really want. No way am I even going to try and get them all. I'm not that nuts.

(I mean, if I could get an Ultra Rare for trading I would, but it wouldn't be for keeps.)

It really depends on the game. I've bought all Zelda based ones for Smash and will likely buy Zelda ones if they release some with the next Wii U game. Plus the Smash ones have use in Hyrule Warriors, which was the initial reason I bought them. I want Toad cause it's a cool character, not one you'd commonly find merchandise for, and it has use in the Toad game. Whether I buy any more from the Mario Line depends on how I can use them. However, if they release a Metroid game and release Amiibo for that, I'll likely get those as well, regardless of function.

I saw walmart preorder went up just as it just happened but I chose to not preorder anything because I'm not interested to collect entire Mario Bros (or Mario Party) line up.

It still suck to see some people missed out their chance to preorder so basically Amiibo is your job period if you want to get every amiibo there are.

I just really wanted megaman. I'm holding on to my Rosalina just to secure myself a Ness in the future. I do like lurking though and seeing things go on sale and being like.

I'm honestly so relieved I'm not interested in owning each and every single amiibo released and I'm only towards the characters that I REALLY love otherwise I would have gone mad with all this supply issues and crazy scalper stuff. I admire those owning the whole collection so far. That requires lot's of patience (and moneys of course)

I would buy some...definitely not all. I'd buy any and all Zelda ones in particular. And KK Slider and some of the AC ones. Maybe Koopalings (For Mario, I would buy multiple Marios all in different power-up suits as well but I don't think they would do that).

After Smash it is really going to depend more on in game functionality. Beyond that, I will buy amiibo for games I am a die hard fan of.

My GameStop pre-orders have been the most reliable. I'm always stressed out about things going awry, but somehow nothing has (yet). Other than two banged-up boxes, but that was on Nintendo's part, as I've been told it's how they received them.

Of the Smash line, the only one remaining that I just have to have is Ganondorf. There's others I would like to have and are going to try and get (Ness, Dr. Mario, ROB, etc), but that's the last one I need. I'm also in for whatever Zelda line I'm sure they'll do for the Zelda U.

Ganon and ZSS are the remaining two that I will go hard to get. I'm sure another one or two will pop up that I'll see and be interested in, something like Dr. Mario or Dark Pit... but those first two, I must have.

And I'm very interested in what the Zelda line will do for that game. Like, what can a Ganon or Zelda character unlock for you in the game to make them worth producing?
