I couldn't believe it myself. I only went to that department for Blu Rays and the amiibos were only one isle over so I thought why not. I literally said 'holy shit' out loud and snatched them up. I thought I'd have to wait months to start my customs but I guess I got stupid lucky.
As in, you cleaned them out?

I appreciate the spirit of customs but stuff like this only makes it harder for people to find something that's already pretty dang hard to find.
Thats why Im only customizing commons.

This amiibo craze got me thinking. It feels like a sport, much like Black Friday or Boxing Day.
Shopping isn't a pleasant experience like the stores want you to believe. It's an all out death sport to obtain such precious commodity in extremely limited stock. But it seems like it has been pretty tame now, but my god imagine if this was during the holiday season.

What interesting stories do you have in obtaining the amiibos that you already own?
Did you have to watch numerous monitors 24/7 for preorders to go up and have agile dexterity to manoeuvre through the purchase? Did you have to endure the harsh climate outside of a line up to secure an amiibo? Did you have to travel distant places until you found one? Were you unprepared and forced yourself to purchase the scalper prices?
What's your story? For me I got lucky and preordered when I did. A simple click and it was done. I imported mostly from amazon.de and amazon.fr. Got most of it from amazon.ca. Not it seems people are more aware of importing because they were forced to discover things out.

All the exclusives are fucked, I managed to get two though. Can't wait for wave 4 to only be retailer exclusives.
Assuming that leaked walmart banner was real, and it looked like it was, then yes. Easterish apparently. So in a month or so.

Honestly, I've had a lot of luck with amiibos so far to be completely frank about it. Villager was the first amiibo I bought (was also the only one that didn't get cancelled in a TRU order), Little Mac was a casual purchase on gamestop.com one night. These were before I decided I wanted all of them and before the craze really took off. Most of Wave 3 was preordered and I was able to easily secure import preorders for the exclusives. The rares I'd missed were easy and cheap to import, before import sites decided to jack up the price of rare amiibo.
I can't say I've had a hard time getting any of them and they were all at normal or close-to-normal prices. It's been really stressful though since I'm always paranoid that my preorders won't mean anything or my packages get lost in the mail or whatever. I mean, I was really close to having to wait til Spring/Summer when I preordered Ike and Dedede at Gamestop. I feel like it's only going to get worse from here. Have all of wave 4 preordered on Amazon UK at least so hopefully they come through for me if I can't get US/Amazon JP preorders in.

Uggh Ike and Dedede. Gamestop makes me sad. Gonna try and see if a friend can get me one this week. If not, I have a Rosalina I'll be wanting to swap for Ike or Dedede. (probably Ike)

Not quite. Only Ike for me on Wednesday. They didn't call me or anything, I had to call them, but they had my Megaman and Sonic Friday.

I wonder how long amiibo fever will last with stock being pushed to "summer". People have to tire of the bullshit eventually, causing scalpers to move on while Nintendo's surge of stock will be met with no one caring anymore.
Like wii fit? That took a long time.
Hard to say. I don't see it dying down anytime soon though. Let's see how people feel about amiibo after the smash line anyway. We'll probably see less and less enthusiasm because there won't be as interesting of character choices and duplicate characters. It all depends on what Nintendo does with it. If they release something like a Star Fox line or a Xenoblade line (yeah right), I can imagine interest staying strong, as opposed to the somewhat boring super mario line of amiibos.

Sonic and Mega Man seems to be somewhat random. Mine told me they would either have them before, the same time as, or after Ike on Wednesday....lol.
I got the automated GS call saying my Ike and DDD would be ready for Wed. Ordered a Mega Man along with them, but no word on him. Did not order so Sonic.

People are real big dicks right after a snow storm. Went to Walmart to check on their stock and there were at least 4 cars in the handicapped spots without a tag and just a person waiting in them. Was there when I got there and there when I came out.

So, the insane optimist in me is hoping that the delay in opening preorders for Wave 4 means that Nintendo is working to avoid the cluster muck that was waves 1-3.

Villager was my first also. Actually started amiibo collecting late since I kept telling myself I don't need another addiction aside from GI Joe/Transformers.
MTV was already becoming a thing the weekend I started but I called every store and was able to find a Villager and two Trainers. Was close to getting a Marth but the two stores that said they had one actually had none. Didn't know that a week or two later their prices would skyrocket on ebay.
I went ahead and ordered a scalped Mega Man off Amazon. DAMN YOU KID. It was more than I wanted to pay but it was Prime Eligible and fulfilled by Amazon. It said there was only one left but I got the order confirmation. The vendor also came off the list after I ordered. I got the confirmation email as well with the delivery date.
Have you guys ever had something like this get canceled once you get to that point. With only one left it worried me a little, but it looks like it updates in real time so hopefully I just snagged the last one and got lucky. (if overpaying by that much is "lucky")

If Wave 4A actually happens then I would go with Charizard, Wario and Ness.
I think Wario and Pac-Man will be 4b. Initially Nintendo's amiibo site had those two down as May before fixing it.
Charizard, Robin and Lucina for 4a and Pac-Man, Wario and Ness for 4b.

I'd be okay with that setup, personally. Would make sense to get RObin and Lucina out ASAP so they can be used with Code Name STEAM.
Wario should be 4a too, then, for Mario Party 10. Otherwise they're gonna have 2 different Warios taking up shelf space when the Super Mario version comes out, too.
That's a good point, I hadn't thought of that. But really, I don't really expect SMB wave 2 to be until late June or July. They're already going to have to contend with two of a bunch of characters being on shelves when Mario Party hits. For all we know Wario could be a rare out of Wave 4b for that exact reason. Or hell, maybe a rare in SMB Wave 2.

On a Sunday? If they're showing a pending shipment, it will most likely be Monday at the earliest since they wouldn't get Fedex or UPS shipments on Sunday.
