Amazon has been restocking MM sporadically. Got mine just randomly logging in at 10:30pm on Tuesday night. He was out of stock again by the time my order finalized.

Glad I pre ordered 2 of the Gold Mario's just in case. Anyone else get lucky? Did this during my stream too lol. Put everyone on hold. lol

I got two, but it's because I was off work today. Normally I would have missed it.

However, I had food poisoning yesterday, which I decided to stay home today. So is that lucky...?

Ok, thanks. Will keep re-checking. Same for Sonic?

Gosh, everyone who got in on Gold Mario seems like they went in for more than one. Is this gonna be the norm now? Sure, it's better in the hands of a Gaffer than a pro scalper, but I'd honestly rather order through a retailer and trade only as a last resort.

I can see ordering from multiple retailers, since pre-orders are so often cancelled, but just hitting quantity x2 w/ one retailer in order to hold onto for trade reasons? Iiiiiiiii dunno...seems kinda close to scalping to me. But hey, I've ebayed a few myself, so I'd be a hypocrite for condemning anyone.

At this point, I don't want any more extras! I just want a complete set of the Smash line and to be out enjoying life once again!

i got an extra rosie and d3 for the sole purpose of trading because i wasnt able to get in on pre orders for shulk and didnt get to tru early enough to get a lucario. its a 1:1 trade. vastly different than buying/pre ordering multiple amiibo for the sole purpose of selling them for 500% profit. im not sure how people are seeing this differently.

My girlfriend said "I'm surprised you showed restraint, considering you said you weren't going to deal with a wal-mart exclusive"

SHHHHH she doesn't know I just slept through it

One to own. One to sell for a small profit should also be acceptable then. After all, that profit could be used towards another amiibo! Supporting the hobby!
I agree. Complaining about scalpers and buying two gold marios is kinda hypocritical. However, like you said, the difference lies in the motive.

Maybe it's because I was into the Pokemon TCG Trading scene for so long, but I have zero issues with people purchasing doubles of things for trade. Or shoot, two or three extras, for that matter. (Haven't done so, before the pitchforks show up.) In the case of this amiiboGAF thread, it's keeping everything in the same ecosystem. It's not in the hands of someone who really doesn't care.

Are giveaways better for feel-good and karma? Well, yeah. But not everyone is under some oath to do so.

On that note, mad props to bms2993 for doing what you are!

Completely different.

One is an even up trade (and if it's not even up, it's your own fault for not doing your homework) where the other one is the seller is out to make a profit and probably doesn't care for the Amiibo hobby at all.

I'm just saying there's a fine line here. I'm also not a fan of pro scalpers who have no interest in the product and yet buy as many as possible, but that it's driven others to order multiple themselves, when they have no intentions of playing w/ them or even selling at retail value...it's like another poster said: they are holding those amiibos "hostage" until they get what they want. When possibly another honest consumer could have scored a pre-order w/ a reputable retailer? That doesn't seem completely right either. In the end, it's on Nintendo, though. They are creating shortages. This is a desperate (and ingenious) tactic to reinvigorate interest in their brand.

Most people buying for trades are kind of in denial. They say they are trying to help the community, but they are only hurting it. It's the same as scalping as you are profiting off others who missed it by now taking their rares.

Multiple retailers are understandable because a lot do get canceled, but more than one from one retailer doesn't save you from them or something.

We've reached the critical point because of this. Everything is swiped up by traders and scalpers within a few minutes. If I fail at Wave 4, I'm throwing in the towel.

I walked into Best Buy today and they had a Mega Man on the shelf. I was sooo tempted to buy him but I ordered one from Best Buy that will be here early next week. But I want him now :(

That douche scalper i posted the other day is making bank.

BUY HIM OFF THE SHELF!!!

BB has been doing a sh!t job at packing amiibos. If you're keeping him in package...pick him up off the shelf.

This honestly makes no sense to me. If they have rares...as in an extra one to trade to me, it is the same situation.

Example....I want a Pit and missed out. Someone has a Pit to trade (they have an extra rare). Of course they won't trade it to me for something more commonly found like a Toon Link or a Donkey Kong or something. The only way they even consider my trade is if I am lucky enough to score an extra gold Mario or Shulk or Dedede or something with perceived value to them. I have no other way to get a Pit at this point other than find something to trade or pay a real scalper triple or more. What you are really saying here is the person who has the extra rare Pit should just trade it away for a common straight up (which I am not seeing happening). Then I, as a collector who wants to trade, wouldn't need an extra hard-to-find to trade in return and wouldn't try to get that extra when the opportunity arises.

Oh snap, Lucina, Robin and Ness finally sold out in New Zealand. The other three are still available. I got my pre-order in for the FE characters early. Not missing out on that Codename STEAM goodness.

I have to ask. Why are there so many Americans hung up on not shipping to Canada? It's not like it costs them anything if the buyer is paying shipping.

I've shipped dozens of items to Canada over the years (eBay). I've never had a single bad experience... except for one time when I thought it would only cost me $10 to ship a 360 there. But that was totally my own fault for guessing the weight. I bought a scale shortly thereafter.
