Started selling my figures on Craigslist. Already made 100.00.

I dunno why I got into them and then out of them so fast.

At least I'll have spare cash for an Apple Watch now.

hey, just curious.

I pre-ordered the Mario Party 10/Amiibo bundle for 49.99, I just went to apply a gift card to it to discovered that there is another $10 I need to pay off. It had a remaining balance of $23, but now says $33, when I check my e-mails it says that I preordered it for 59.99.

I KNOW it said 49.99 not long ago. I'm not crazy am I?

Wanna hear something fun?

Went to gamestop on a whim today while out getting cosplay supplies. They had gotten in about 30 megaman's, 20 bowsers and had 2 sonic's left. Picked up a sonic and megaman and the guy behind the counter said that, "I may want to stop in early tomorrow, there's a new amiibo sku in their systems thats slated to release tomorrow".

So have fun with that.

Silver Mario?

No it happened to me too. Give them a call. I did and it's fine now.

I'm probably going to cut down to just a few soon as well. It's lost a bit of fun and I could shift the money to a racing wheel for the xb1.

I've got 10 and really only want ness from the remaining lineup, but I'm assuming he'll be impossible to get anyways. Nintendo certainly won't make enough even though his game sells well on the eshop.

Which ones have you sold?

Dedede, Lucario, toon link and fox

Yeah, I was looking at my collection and I was just like...meh. I'm gonna keep a few (my absolute favorites) but sell as many as I can.

OK so I have gotten quite a few new ones over the last few weeks here's the current haul
(new: Sonic, DeDeDe, Ike, Pit, Meta Knight, Mega Man, Shulk,Toon Link)

current fave is sonic (though Shulk and D3 are close) I like the reverse angle makes him look all 90's angst
like how he should

Weather is terrible here in the midwest. I went into work this morning and couldn't even see the lines on the highway; had to go 20mph in some spots. Still considering risking my life to go amiibo hunting for a Mega Man or Fox.

I'm only half kidding...

More of Ness

At least I think this is a new pic.

Edit: Guess not. It was posted earlier.

Man I really can't wait to preorder this guy.

Diddy looks derpy.

All the Diddys do, sadly.

A lot of Diddys do, but I think that's thanks to the way his eyes are in his render. They only look correct on most of them if you look at Diddy from the angle that he's situated in his artwork.

At first I thought my Diddy was hysterically walleyed, but now I weirdly think he looks fine.

Derpers gonna derp .

Did you sell them opened?

Despite wanting all of these, I'm done collecting. It's causing a bit more stress than I had expected it to, and the anxiety I can't deal with. Especially when I don't really have the cash to buy these with a much lower paying job than I had before. If I could buy these slowly over the course of a year I'd still do it, and might just grab the ones I can on sale, but I'm gonna leave the anxiety out of it.

I've got a few extras, not by choice, that I might show up to offer for trade. But I'm gonna go ahead and give up collecting. Best of luck GAF.

Not to add to gloom and doom, but I'm sort of feeling the same. I could dump all the figs and get a PS4. I like them, but at the same time I'm too busy to camp out, money is tight, and I really can't deal with the stress of getting the figures. I'm going to think it through a little longer, but for the 2nd time I may bail out (except for Mega Man, he will forever be on my desk).

One thing is for sure these toys are not fun to hunt down. Store like Best Buy only getting 8 of their exclusive amiibo why even fucking bother stocking it at all. It is a $13 toy why don't they have more?

I have everyone one out now (sonic, megaman and shulk on their way from over seas) and I just wish it would get easier to find them. Hope I can snag wave 4 from best buy Nintendo must realize there is a high demand. Ship more of them already, before I wise up and ditch them all since it not worth the effort of tracking them down.

You can definitely see people's patience wearing thin with the run around that Nintendo has made for us acquiring these things. It isn't fair to the people who actually liked the characters that now have to get up at the crack of dawn in below freezing weather just to watch some dick get 5 of the 8 a store got in stock of their "exclusive". It is rough and I see it getting a lot worse before it gets any better if it ever does.

My local Meijers (Waterford MI) has these in stock. First time I've seen a Toon link, MM or Sonic on the shelf. Let me know if you can't find any of these and want me to pick them up.

Yikes. I need a cheaper option than that.

Don't use USPS priority boxes then. Use a normal cardboard box, like an Amazon shipping box. Wrap the amiibo in bubble wrap inside, and through USPS, it shouldn't cost more than $4 using first-class shipping.

I shipped one from MI to FL and it cost me $2.76

Wow, that's a really nice selection. No Meijer in my area has ever had anything close to that. You should try selling this picture to museums.

Yeah it's definitely not the cheapest option. I do it because
A: Saves me a trip to the PO
B: Can ship two in a box which is what I try and do, helps minimize the costs.
C: Some people are willing to pay the difference to get it faster.
D: Free tracking (I think limited insurance too)

Anyone having any luck finding Dedede in stores? Can't find him anywhere and would be willing to pay for shipping and whatnot...

Small 8x6x6 boxes fit very well. Maybe 6x6x6 but I didn't have any laying around.

Within US, and with padding, it ships for 2.50-3.00 for First Class package and 5.00-6.00 for Priority.

Hey guys, I have a pretty stupid question about all the amiibo stuff, and I hope no one takes offence to it.

I wanted to know what is driving the need for these?
I am pretty much baffled as to the reasoning why people want these.
Is it for collection hobbies?
Some function that is so great but unnoticed by the majority that makes them a must have?
Is it because of it being a nintendo branded item that people wish to sell at higher prices than MSRP for profit?
Is it all of the above, none of the above?

I just don't get it, and I wish it wasn't so alien to me.

Anyone?

Are you baffled in general by people who buy figures/toys? If so, it's probably just not something for you. Not everyone has to get "everything". People are different, they have different views and priorities in life, some people are really into rock climbing or scuba diving, some aren't. It's just a fact of life. If you don't "get it", there's no worries, I'm sure someone here probably doesn't "get" something you're into.

So its more of a collection hobby, would you say?
I understand wanting to collect things because they are nice to look at, or collecting for bragging rights.
Is this, in your opinion similar to the amiibo trend?

The only reason I'm thinking about getting out of the amiibo game is I'm running out of room to display / the display is starting to look ridiculous. I don't really want 50 figures on display.

Might just closet most of them until I use them, and keep just a few out. I don't really have gaming stuff / memorabilia as a part of my home decor so I'm trying to figure out how to make it work.

They've become collectibles more than anything at this point and that leads to people having the urge to collect them all. Also helps that this is under the Smash Bro line where you have people wanting to collect their favorite character.

There was also a small stock of a handful of characters so naturally you have scalpers clawing after them to make a quick buck, leading them to be rare.

I don't think the functionality of them really matters at this point.

Thank you for giving a clear, respectful answer.
I appreciate you taking the time to answer, even though it is a rather silly question I admit.

It's a combination of a lot of things.

First off, they're undersupplied. Instills a "buy now or not ever" mentality.

Their functionality is varied and can be added onto with no rhyme or reason. Look at Marth and Codename STEAM. He's acting as a DLC gatekeeper that couldn't be bought in stores since months before this announcement. Couple this with the undersupply, there's at least a few buying them in case they unlock something cool in the future.

For many Nintendo franchises, these are the only products the Americas have ever seen. How likely is it we'd see figures for Little Mac, Shulk, Dedede, or Ness otherwise?

With Smash, you will have people buying their favorite Smash characters.

I actually don't collect toys and figures at all. I have few specific pieces of gaming related decor, such as the very nice Pikmin 3 and Wind Waker posters from Club Nintendo.

I'm collecting the Smash series Amiibo because Nintendo doesn't make many first-party collectibles related to their games, much less literal Smash Bros. trophies out of the game itself. That is unique enough to catch my interest, since I do like their functionality within the game; they have a use besides looking good. And as others have said, many of these represent characters that would never see any physical collectible, like Ness or ROB.

For what it's worth, I know three or four other people who don't collect toys or general gaming swag, but are buying Smash Amiibo. These seem to hit a sweet spot between a lot of factors.
