I don't know why everyone is going bonkers over what is otherwise a simple paint job. Just order a Mario Amiibo from the Smash/Super Mario Bros. line, get a can of gold spray paint, get some painters tape to cover the base, then BLAM! Instant Gold Mario!

At the very least I saw one Wal-Mart employee say they have a second smaller shipment in rout to their store already for Gold Mario, so maybe it won't be too hard to get.

Toad is more sought after because he doesn't have a Smash Bros. counterpart amiibo.

His pre-orders have sold out, so at this point can't call him rare, but probably uncommon.

I think amiibos are here to stay with how successful they are making it sound every time a sales report pops up. Nintendo is just too dumb right now to actually meet the demand. Hopefully they'll get better at it in the future.

Doesn't sound like it's Nintendo being "too dumb". The demand is just much, much higher here than in our territories. Combined with the fact the port strike caused massive delays.
