Walked into Walmart at 11:58. Walked out with the 8th of 8 Golden Marios. Great end to a busy work day.

Wal-Mart guy told me no quantity limit on purchases but his manager said he would try to limit one per person. But he won't be there at midnight so idk

I'm so fucking mad. Last week I tried to buy one because I saw some were out early and was denied buying one. (Of course. I figured that would have happened.) I come back tonight around 11 and the guy working said they didn't have any. I told him that's impossible because I saw four last week and tried to buy one early. Two other guys show up and I told them what was happening and they weren't happy. We convinced the guy working to check in back for us. He didn't find them. An assistant manager showed up and also checked. Couldn't find them. So, they told me they are assuming whoever told me to just come back Friday took em and hid them for themselves. Needlessly to say, the three of us that showed up left pretty pissed off. Walmart sucks.
Stay there until midnight.
See who shows up. Wait by the cashiers, wait until someone tries to ring up four Gold Marios and call the manager.

this isnt true. they can fit 4 in one box. when i got my c.falcon i watched the target employee open up a box (same size as the others) with two in it.

That's my guess. Last week when I was leaving after trying to buy the gold mario I saw that employee go and grab them all and go in back.

I work at Gamestop with a walmart in the same shopping center so as soon as I closed tonight I headed over, the people there didn't seem to have a clue what I was talking about at first then I finally talked to a manager who had been taking calls about it all day. They got 8 in, I was first in line and got mine. My manager wanted one was well and when I told her they were only getting 8 she rushed down after an inventory she had to do and managed to be the 7th, the 8th person showed up right before Midnight.
No toad but they had the ones that were already in smash (Peach, Yoshi, Luigi) out but couldn't be rung up ahead of time.
Glad I got mine, looks fantastic just sad to see Walmart of all places get it as an exclusive when they don't even have the staff who even gave a shit enough to tell people on the phone if they were going to have them at midnight.
Now all I need is MetaKnight.

Well that was super easy. My Walmart had 8. When I showed up at 11:45 there was only one other person waiting. A few more folks trickled in after me but we all walked out with one.

I went to my neighborhood wal-mart and the sales associate said "What? I have a red Mario. And a Luigi. No gold." He was right, they had nothing. But I did take a pic of their plan-o-gram for the amiibo section.
It's interesting that they have no planned spots for any of the SMS amiibo, except for one single peg for gold Mario, the only SMS amiibo that is limited and would never make it to a peg if he were sold at midnight as advertised.
Also, I thought their crappy selection was by apathetic department employees not keeping it properly updated.. Nope, that crappy selection is by design.

Not worth it at this rate. Seems you had to get in line an hour or two ago to be able to grab one. Seems most of the stores got about 8 of them.

It depends how valuable you find your time : I live in Ocala, FL now and if that doesn't sound familiar it's because it's where people from NY retire, as in no one who cares about Amiibos. My friend and I were alone at our store, joined only at 1155 by someone's mother buying them for him while he gets two from another store; A scalper obviously, and if I could go back I'd have taken 3 of the 4 instead of the 2 I got to prevent that, but irregardless : If you're in a lesser popular are you might get lucky.
