My walmart said there was none here in colorado and when I went there about 2 hours ago there was nothing on the shelf. The Amiibo area was the exact same as it always is so I don't think they got any at all.
 
I just went to Wal-Mart for the hell of it. Nothing. There was a tag for Gold Mario, but it was empty. Not even a tag for the rest of the SMB amiibos.

Yep same story for me. I needed eggs so I checked out the amiibo section while I was at walmart, aside from the empty Gold Mario spot and a Luigi hiding where Bowser was supposed to be, there was nothing new.

I asked the guy at the counter and he told me they haven't gotten them in yet, said that people were there for them last night and already this morning lol.

The amiibo saga continues.
 
Still waiting on shipping confirmation from Walmart for Gold Mario. Was in the last batch of preorders. Anyone have any movement that ordered the last time he was available??

That's about as good as it gets from what I've seen. Lots of blotching and bleeding on the 8 at my store. I got the best one, but pretty disappointed after the last wave had some amazing ones like Dedede.
 
My dad even joined in the fun last night from 2,000 miles away. He said there were 40 people lined up from 10pm at the N.Decatur/215 Walmart in Las Vegas. 16 Gold Mario and 12 Toad.
He arrived at 12:20 when everything was gone but Luigi and Yoshi. Dad, you had one job.

I had no amiibo luck in northern Kentucky but I did buy my dad a new Yoshi and a Disney Rosalina for myself.

Update! Went back to Walmart and the manager heard about how crappy the release was last night and apologized. They had ONE left. Feeling pretty lucky now.
 
Welp. Went to Super Walmart as early as I possibly could but they only got 4 and sold out instantly. I guess my only chance might be to trade.
 
I bought mines for purely insurance reasons. We don't know how the next wave is going to go. But I WILL have Lucina and Robin if one way or another. Hopefully I can preorder or go to a store to pick them up, but worst case scenario I have 2 golden tickets to trade.

if you trade now you might be able to get 2 exclusives , i was checking out the amiibo trade thread on reddit and people are offering a 2 combo of rosalina, shulk, meta knight, lucario for gold mario, you can even get little mac or pit

gold mario is best to catch up :P

wtf people srs with those trades? Gold Mario was up for preorder like 900 times. They had stock in store, and they are not exclusive in Canada.

Well to put it in perspective, Metaknight and Shulk were both available for preorder for several days straight.

Didn't seem to make a difference. Gold Mario was much harder to get compared to those two.

Edit: Though I agree not worth two exclusives lol.

They also aren't importable but yeah, collection-wise it really shouldn't be worth any more than other US exclusives, people are taking advantage of the confusion and paranoia.

yeah , i think about 8-10 times there were chances online, its the hype of the release that is getting people crazy, probably just for the weekend/next week

going by ebay its worth 1:1 for any exclusive/little mac/pit

Only amiibos I care about are the Fire Emblem people. Already got Ike and Marth.

But I WOULD maybe trade one for a Shulk. It just depends on how the next wave goes. If I can get Robin and Lucina easily without trading my golden Marios, then I'd be easily open to trade for a Shulk or sell for far lower than scalpers are selling for.

Like I said, my only goal is the 4 FE amiibos and maybe a Shulk. But FE comes first.
 
Gave my big boost of kharma for the day.

Met a fellow Amiibro at the local BestBuy and let him piggyback on my GCU when he was picking up the entire MP10 lineup. Mentioned offhand that I had a spare NiB MegaMan and he was really eager to buy it off me - so I let him have it for a tenner.

Hope all this cosmic-goodness has a way of adding up and I'm able to snag some spare Gold Marios for trades... btw, if anyone has a Meta or Shulk that ISN'T NA (I want to open these ones) I am interested in trades/buying for close to MSRP.
 
Got a Gold Mario in-store! But wow. Do I have a story for you. Here's what happened.

One Walmart was open at midnight. They had eight. I was 10th. Even more upset that Gold Mario was ALL they had.

5 hours of sleep later, went to a closer WM that opens at 6am so I decided to check it out. 5 people besides me on one side and some on the other. My side opened first, but most who want the amiibo just ran past me. Ugh.

From my experience from the TRU fiasco/failure, I did the smart thing and went straight to the cashier are of the store while the rest were at the gaming aisle.

We ended up waiting an hour because there was no one around and some nearby employees may have had no idea what we were waiting for. Luckily, someone came by with the box of the Gold Mario and I was the first in line to get it; a first for me.

Not sure if it was worth it, but I got it.

Going to check Target to see if there are other amiibo.

Have a Gold Mario and Toad pre-ordered online and in processing.

I need to go back to sleep.
