Hello and welcome to purgatory - have a seat with the rest of us while we await our fates. I have a question about your collection that needs immediate attention: what makes Pikachu and Donkey Kong so special? Were they your first two, before innocence was lost and you caught the amiibo disease that digs in and takes over our brains?
 
After a long time lurking I can finally post here on GAF.

Here is my current collection. Got a nice IKEA shelf for it recently:

Now the tough decision, if I should get a Toad Amiibo. At first I only wanted to buy some from the Smash line and then get out of Amiibo business for good. But I fear thats not how it works around here...

This looks really nice. If I ever run out of space for my stupid boxes I will get one of those.

I cut a flap out from the bottom of the box to remove the foil. So it's "open" but for display purposes it looks like it hasn't been. And technically the figure remains untouched.

I decided to collect only the main of each serie in Smash Bros, so I reduce the collection to half (24... if we dont get the amiibo mii) If not, it would be so much money :|
.... with the exception of toon link... that in theory it should be Link... but well, there is not argument here which one look a WAY much better... so the main character of the legend of zelda between those two can be relative (that is what I wanna believe in my head to pretend that im making it right :P)

I have to resist and not buy other amiibos that I find that look great as well (like lucario,diddy kong or meta knight)

So far im done, just waiting the other waves.

My theory is that we will get two waves more. One with 6 and another with 7. And Mr.Game&Watch and Olimar will be in the last wave, because they are the oddest to make...you think they will put at the same price G&W?...there is not much material there to spend :|
 
Expecting my Sheik Amiibo to come in the mail today, and Gold Mario is set to arrive this Thursday.

Kind of bummed out that I start my new job tomorrow, because I just know Wave 4 preorders will be up while I'm working and I won't be able to order them. :(

Sadly true, but oh God I do not want to do that.

When they go up, I'll just contact my local Gamestop and make in store preorders. They know me and they've done a great job at getting me most of my Wave 3 preorders in early February, so I'm sure I'll be fine. At least, I hope, lol.

I dont understand why, Toad was only $20 on eBay when I last checked, lol. Did Bayonetta 2 drop in price?

Reminds me of how I got my current GBA SP. Trading a Pokemon card. Traded my one card for someone's SP, charger, and Advance Wars 2. Think it was worth $65 at the time? It was really freaking good in Competitive play.

That reminds me....I forget to scan them for my rewards yesterday. Played it but forgot to scan. Small Mario Party spoiler ahead:
Are the rewards just bases or have you gotten anything else?

I actually like Amiibo Party even though I wish the boards were more complicated. It lets my kids feel like they are part of it because they like the toys and like putting them on the gamepad when it is time to do so.

It seems the rewards
are heavily skewered toward bases. I heard some people get a lottery game to win MP Points.
 
Ha all my amiibo are still in their boxes and in the bottom of my wardrobe somewhere along with my GameCube adapter and other crap. Legend has it that they come to life at night and contemplate killing me in my sleep for keeping them confined in their plastic sarcophagus.
 
Is it worth driving 40 miles for a Gold Mario Amiibo? I'm not trying to collect every single Amiibo or even that interested in having a Gold Mario Amiibo.... But it's rarity/worth makes me kinda want one all of sudden. What you think Amiibros?

Call ahead to verify the store has it first. If they can hold, definitely do that.

Did you call already, or are you just looking at a stock screen?

I was asking myself the same question. Fortunately, I guess, I don't have to worry about that because it still won't let me add it to my cart.

That being said. 40 miles is a long ass way. Maybe if they had two. But for one? Nah. I think about 25 miles would be my limit. I have been screwed before where I buy from them online just to get there and for them to say, sorry, don't have it. Here's a refund.

check if they can hold it. if they do, get it. then you keep that bad boy sealed and hold onto it until eventually lets say you want duck hunt, ness & shulk. but oh no, all 3 of em are really rare. you know what tho? THAT (stupid) GOLD MARIO IS RARIER!! whip that out and be like YO DAWG ILL TRADE YOU THIS GOLD MARIO FOR ALL 3 OF EM!! If you wanna be nice you can even throw in $20 bucks or something(i wouldn't) and you're set. you know those hardcore collectors will do it, not happily,but they will.
 
Thanks guys, you convinced me to at least push the online order (for pickup in-store) through. I'll wait to see if I get a confirmation email stating the Amiibo is ready for pick-up, and then I'll call to make sure the email is accurate before I head out. Can't hurt to at least try, right?

Yeah, I guess they aren't in stores in my area. I haven't looked since I had preordered it. Once I heard it might be common I canceled my second preorder and posted the only one on CL. I never had any interest in other amiibo besides the smash line anyways, he was only meant for trade bait

Personally, I'm just buying those I'm interested in. Mario Gold, even if it's the rarest doesn't make me feel to buy him. I think it's depend why you buy amiibos.

That's exactly why I ordered the Gold Mario Amiibo, lol.

If that's what it takes to get a Ness, then so be it lol.
 
My Gold Mario shipped in a box that's literally the perfect size for amiibo. Width and length it fits perfectly, depth only allows about a half inch of clearance. I'm amazed, I was expecting a beat up Goldie.

...Now to let it sit until a chance shows to trade it. I've got an extra King Dedede, Shulk, Ike, and now a single Gold Mario I don't plan on keeping... Part of me wants to sell them all and use the money for a upmarked NA Villager, but that'd be like a double dosage of scalper. Playing the role, AND paying for one. :L

yea man. I regret not ordering me some golden marios. ah well, hopefully I can still get the amiibos i want, there aren't much left that I really want anyway(that I have space for)

yep, i don't care about gold mario. I recently sold marth as I cut my collection back down to just the ones I absolutely wanted. Still havent opened any though since the boxes look great together on a shelf.

Yep, its how I'm handling this. That's why the only ones left for me to get are: Lucina, Robin, Charizard, Greninja, Zero Suit Samus, Dark Pit, and Palutena. Then I can be done with amiibos
until the next series amiibos are announced

Did yours specify the 6x6x6 box that others reported? I won't get mine till wednesday because it's coming UPS, but I really want to know it'll come in good condition. Having a bent card would basically render it useless to me since I want to use it for trade.
 
Just checked and it says it was shipped in 8x6x5. Which... looks correct. It's certainly not a flat n by n by n size.

So um, I wish you the best of luck. :X

Likewise, there aren't much left that I want.

I just really want Ness, Pac Man, Greninja, and Duck Hunt.
 
I recieved my email from Wal-Mart, and it said my Gold Mario Amiibo was ready for pickup! Except, at the bottom of the email, under order status (in small print) it says the item has been refunded. After a lengthy phonecall, it turns out that the Wal-Mart in question has an "item-ticker" that is incorrect, and they just got done turning away someone in person who traveled quite a distance to pick his Amiibo up. Poor guy. :/

Oh well, at least I tried!
