Hmmm...Walmart.com indicates local Walmart might have stock. I'm going to waste so much time riding buses for this goose chase.

Mine says the same but it won't let me check out for store pickup. Too risky for a 20mi drive for me. Best of luck to you hope you snag one.

Since last night I haven't been able to add Gold Mario to my cart. It says that it is available for in store pick up but when I add it the site says they just sold out. Now the stores that claim to have it are slowly shining

yesterday I was experiencing the same thing with the walmart website. when it says "pick up today" it means they might have one on shelf, but can not manage it through the backroom and thus the website. I recommend calling them and/or just driving down to see if they have it on shelf. It is where I picked up mine.

I don't understand how you can put any product out there nowadays without some pre-order period. Really not liking that idea, it's basically been how I got all of my amiibos, I don't care much for the "hunt".

So I really looked at my Goldie earlier today. And unless you're trying for a 100% complete collection, I do believe this is the worst amiibo to date. It's like a McDonalds Kids Meal toy. The simplicity of the Mario amiibo Series does have its charms, but you need color to compliment the basic poses. When you cover it all in gold you take away a lot of the charm and it ends up looking cheap.

Or maybe I just hate gold.

I tend to be a completist, and an opener.

But my gold Mario is staying sealed. I would rather trade it to ensure I have a complete set of each individual amiibo, rather than have a variant.

All of the mario party line are terrible :]

Damn addicting things. I keep saying I'm done, but I saw a Fox at Best Buy and had to grab it since I love Star Fox and it was the first time I've seen one in store. I'm OCD about having an even number of them, so I grabbed Sonic too. :D My Sheik should get delivered today, and then I'm done. I swear! At least unless they put out Ganondorf and Zero Suit Samus!

Edit: My Sheik arrived. So now I have a Zelda section on my TV/gaming stand with Zelda and Sheik on the left and Link and Toon Link on the right.

Other shelf is Mario, Sonic and Mega Man on one side (logic being more cartoony characters) and Shulk, Fox and Samus on the other.

As above, I hope they get Ganondorf and Zero Suit Samus out, otherwise I can't think of any other characters I want. Of the ones out the only one mildly tempting to me is Smash Bowser.

Maybe? I know I wasn't sold on the idea at first (would much rather have the silver, I'm not really into gold), but I love the gold Mario, enough so that I made it a centerpiece on my display. Of course, I didn't open it. It could be that it loses some of its charm once it's in hand.

Luigi disagrees with you!

Guess by tomorrow night I'll end buying a Gold Mario from a scalper, either eBay or Amazon. :/

At least prices has gone down from the $60+ at release.

Mario Party Peach is waaaaay easier on the eyes than her Smash counterpart, Luigi's MP amiibo requires no stand, Yoshi is adorable, Bowser is freakin' Bowser and they have Toad. Check mate!

I like the Mario Party line too. Toad is awesome and I like the look of the rest too even though bad paint jobs seem to be common. Not a big deal though.

The smash Bowser is waaay more detailed though, which is fine. Smash has a different art style than the more standard cartoony look of the Mario series.

Shady, scalper talk is not condoned in this thread. If you have some amiibo to unload, please take it to the Buy/Sell/Trade thread. Please do not brag about purchasing multiple amiibo to sell in this thread, especially by posting a picture of four Gold Marios when good people in here missed out.

I PM'ed your answer and LOL jerk.

I had one for many many years until we downsized in January so screw you and i'm glad to have your figure.

I was reporting like others that some stores are resupplying. Did you check the other locals?

Well I really hope you do get a job, it sucks being unemployed. When you admitted to being a "dirty scalper," emotion just got the best of me. Like, whether there were 3 or 12 and you took them all. I did just finish checking and no, they're gone and nothing of interest is left in that store.

Again, sorry for being so rash. I'd just like to pass the Gold Marios I find on to amiiboGAF at cost.

PS Yes, there's a few of us in the Cincy/NKY area. Not the greatest first impression I've made, but hi there!

I don't see how that's any better than having to line up at Gamestop in the early morning on release, probably in the cold is any better. Just think, if everybody has to go to the stores, imagine the lines. No thank you.

Well, that's partly because you didn't read my post carefully enough. I said the crazy race to securing a preorder is no different than securing an actual purchase on an online store. You seem to be thinking that without preorders, we'll only be able to buy them in stores. Merchants are well aware that these easy sell through either B&M stores or online, and they likely will be stocking both store fronts with a similar historical ratio. If so, the only difference for you would be that instead of keeping close track of people with bots who tell us when preorders are up and securing a preorder on GameStop.com any day now, you will now be keeping close track of people with bots who tell us when they are in stock and securing a purchase on GameStop.com when they are released. The race is still the same in this case, it's just delayed a few weeks, and we don't have to expect as many cancelations.

I ordered four of 'em via Amazon; fingers crossed I luck out on the paint jobs!

Oh yes, you can't go wrong with Bowser. In fact, already own the Smash one and love it. It's tempting to get the Party one also, though...Must resist! Once I double dip between lines there's no going back!

(Totally gonna double dip if they release a better lookin' Link amiibo)

For sure. I am not thrilled with the original Link. Still have an opened one and a boxed one regardless. Toon Link is great though.

Amiibos for Zelda U would make me happy and sad at the same time. Happy that we get them and sad because I would have to throw more time and money at amiibos

I dunno about time, I'd imagine that any standard Amiibo they made for their popular IP would be pretty common and easy to find. Look at the SMB sets, or even Link/Zelda/Shiek/Toon Link from Smash.

I think that the Smash line was a blessing and a curse to launch with. Obviously, due to the nature of the characters, there are going to be some that are more highly sought after or that don't have as many produced. Nintendo isn't going to make as many Duck Hunt Dogs as they will make of Pikachu, for example. But when you look at their other IP, Mario, Zelda, etc, there aren't like... "rare" characters for those series that would lead to smaller production runs or higher demand. I doubt Nintendo would waste the time making a Paulina Amiibo for the SMB line, you know?

So because of that, the SSB line has kind of given us the mindset that every wave will have rare characters. Look at how people jumped the gun on Toad for the SMB series, yet he appears to be readily available and easy to find. Sure they may do variants like Gold Mario that will be a nightmare to get, but I feel like the actual characters themselves for future series, SMB, LoZ, Star Fox, etc will be fairly common and easy to come by.

There's more of us? Well then...

Not sure if I should check Walmart or not around here. Was at one late last night and they had nothing but the Smash series. This late in the day, I don't think they'll have anything.

So how badly is plastic damage a thing for amiibo values?

I just got this today and the plastic box is dented a bit, but the box is fine otherwise.

Depends who wants it and why. Is it for collection purposes, or to be opened and utilized? I bought my amiibo with collecting in mind. I would be a little bummed if that's what showed up at my door...
though the rarity of the figure, coupled with my desperation to get that figure, may lower how stringently I would judge its case quality.

Everyone worrying about wave 4 preorders for the USA, while I just sit here and peacefully look at my Robin and Lucina preorders on Amazon UK ;)
That's ok. We will have ours in hand while you rock back and forth anxiously waiting for shipping confirmation.

Shouldn't matter because you should always open your amiibo. ;)

I guess it was largely dependent on if I felt like being a collector of them or not. Actually I've been having fun getting opened rare amiibos because they're so much cheaper, and I can use them. I'll sit on it a bit.
