Ducktales Remastered seems like an odd choice, considering it came out in August 2013. Not to mention, it's a Disney game, which you think would get support for those Disney Infinity figures first, not amiibo.

Well yes, Capcom made the game, but the Ducktales PROPERTY is owned by Disney, hence why I figured Disney would've been like "NO, you have to use OUR figures, not our competition's."
Now granted, if you could use Mega Man or Ryu (or Shovel Knight considering both have that pogo move), that would be cool. But again, amiibo support for a game 2 years old based on a license seems strange.

No, but he seems like the most likely candidate to represent Platinum. Especially in Amiibo format, where his proportions seem perfect for a small statue. Platinum doesn't really have a well-known mascot like Jack Frost.

It's more 'these games weren't made by Nintendo proper, so I want ports to my platform of choice.' Kinda like Pokemon since people now think Game Freak put Tembo on other platforms (and bombed) so they now think Pokemon can go to PS4, XB1 and PC.
Not to mention ReCore saying 'from the creators of Metroid Prime' making people think Retro is making it.
Apparently people feel Bayonetta is the "mascot" of Platinum.

This is probably an incredibly stupid question, but do I still have time to preorder the Zero Suit Samus amiibo at Gamestop? As in, I can mosey on into the nearest store and preorder? I can't do it online, and I fear that I may have missed out.

the new amiibo other than the 3 pack wont be available for preorder at gamestop they confirmed that themselves they will go up on release day along with stores getting stock of the characters gamestop is going full first come first serve this wave.

I actually got the retro 3-pack on preorder, if that's what you mean.
The only thing you've been able to pre-order from Gamestop is the Retro 3-pack. The only other store that has done pre-orders in the US is Target, who still has Dr. Mario available (Rumor was they had 50k online, 100k in store).

I just placed orders for the Japanese import versions of Mega Man and Palutena (I think that's how you spell her name?) off of Amazon, came out to $35 for both of them and I qualified for the free shipping. Should be here in a week or so.

I had this great idea just now. Mortal Kombat amiibos. WB Games can put out a Mortal Kombat compilation for whatever Nintendo's next console is called, and make like a couple dozen amiibos that can activate special bonuses. The Mileena amiibo unlocks her in Ultimate MK3 without having to input a bazillion- input Kombat Kode, Sub-Zero unlocks a Krypt bonus, so on and so forth.
That would print money, I'm telling you. Someone get me on the phone with Nintendo and WB, this could be huge.
3rd parties are in for a rude awakening when they realize it's not the 'amiibo' brand that is doing well, but rather the fact that it's figurines for nintendo's beloved IP (specifically smash bros).
The first few 3rd parties out of the gate might do OK riding the wave and selling to scalpers who will just buy anything with the word amiibo on it (and shovel knight is a legitimately great character), but ubi going to cry when its junk just sits on shelves.

From reading about how yacht club had to get things approved, I'm guessing Nintendo wants a say in it when you use the amiibo brand. I don't expect a ton of third parties to go after the market in that case rather than attempt their own toys to life concept. If they're invested in it that is.
There's decent stuff Ubi could do. Rayman, one of the assassins, Prince of Persia. They might want to try to make multiple versions of a Rabbid but that would fail so hard.
I think they just want to be careful about how it's used so their Golden Goose doesn't start turning out turds.
Although, Animal Crossing might be its' changing point like it was for Wii.

Not for NA. Mii Fighters have gone up a lot on international sites and Mewtwo/Falco only have placeholders.
I don't think NOA realizes that the reason why amiibo are so popular in NA is because they don't sell much of any official Nintendo merchandise. For NA Nintendo fans, amiibo are basically it.

Especially for characters like Ness, Captain Falcon, the Kid Icarus crew, Fire Emblem characters, etc. There's some toys out there for Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and Star Fox but everyone else is basically left in the dust.
This is the only time we'll ever see merchandise in the US for Palutena, Lucina, Mr. Game & Watch, all of those kinds of characters will get an Amiibo and never anything else.
