This already happens with gift subs.

Lots of channels inflate there numbers massively by simple just donating like half the money they earn into gift subs for themselves to keep the numbers up. Bots where also a thing used so much that at some point when there was a huge bot culling, people that had like 5-10k viewers dropped down to 400-500. U had a whole bunch of people "quit streaming" because they wanted suddenly a longer vacation because they where falling flat on there face.

Also bots and fake donations where a thing before also, where people would just fake donate stuff to themselves in order to let the viewers know that donations are a thing and that they where more populaire then the next one.
