Amplitude (Harmonix) PS3/PS4 - KS (Funded, final day)

I don't think that there is a big enough fan base for this to reach the goal. The majority of the fans will have already backed this at the start, hence the good first day numbers.

Would like to see it made but not really holding out much hope

No shi, game was niche back when it came out. A PS4 re-release would be perfect to expand its fanbase.

Well, on a lighter note, any interest in some Freq/Amp score battles?
(Would anyone like to have a community thread?)

This piqued my interest in a replay, it's been a while.

If this fails, they should check of why Outcast Reboot HD failed from the devs themselves:

Lack of content + High Goal = High chance of failure

We should have set a lower initial goal from the beginning, include more platforms, provide more attractive and more professional videos, lower the next-gen console stretch goal, post more updates with more attractive content, properly plan these updates in advance to free our time for promoting the campaign. We should have better explain the key features of the game and the high quality values of this remake compared to the original, do not mix old gen gameplay with new gen rendering, and ultimately, we should have shown a gameplay demo with the new characters or at least a representative trailer. Unfortunately we didn't have enough assets to produce a trailer due to tight financing and we expected this funding to really "kickstart" the project.

I think we made a wrong assumption from the start, thinking that the original game could be our “draft prototype” and let people imagine how good the game could be just by showing the first glimpse of the environment in HD and a list of improvements, while asking folks to trust us based on the experience of the team. Part of that, is of course due to a lack of upfront financing which also forced us to rush the campaign. I really hope that we’ll be able to sort this point for the next step.

Yeah, I feel like the reason it is going to fail is because there is a lack of reward for investing in the project. You have to pay 40 for early access and 70 for any reward other than the game. While I love the original game, the fan base is pretty small and it would be better to make a low tier for original music and then a higher tier for licensing music. I cannot imagine $775k needed for just the gameplay. Most of that money is probably for trying to license music tracks that they want.

Although 5,700+ people backing you up shows that there is interest in the game. Maybe they can come back and make a more reasonable goal for original music created for the game. I really want this to come through in some form. Perhaps not the form they pitched, but some form.

I can't say I like this tactic. I've already tweeted about the campaign several times, but it's because it's something I want, not because I'm getting paid to do it.

Even if it doesn't get fully funded it'll still come out?

I want to BELIEVE
Harmonix says no. It's up to you whether you believe them or not.

Just saw this in another thread. Sigh.

Does that suggest they've had some other bad news, I wonder?

Pretty sure that the MS announcement to drop kinect will have a huge effect on them and directly influence their sales on the upcoming kinect games they were working on.

People want gameplay, not swag.

I think the reality is that it doesn't make sense to work on it beyond concept stuff unless it gets funded. This isn't an indie game that people have been working on independently for a while before launching a KS to help them finish. If you want an idea of how the game is going to play, look up Amplitude on Youtube.

I've played them inside and out. They need to reach people who HAVEN'T played the games, not me. How many backers aren't familiar with Freq/Amp? Less than 5% I bet.

And again, I would point them to Youtube or the KS video that includes plenty of Amplitude footage. Don't get me wrong. I'd love to see a taste of what the final product would be, but the final product is basically going to be Amplitude in HD (just as the title of the KS implies), filtered through the art direction they've already shown. It's not going to move the needle much.

I bet a video showing distinct gameplay and visual improvements along with a great electronic track would do wonders.

don't worry. they'll post a new update showing off ps2 gameplay and just talk about what the new game will feel like but that's not the point. they should have at least a prototype up or something to show before launching the KS.

the thing is. i cant back this game, when i know there was an "early backer - you get the game cheap" thing.
then i just cant pay "more" for the game. and that knowledge will also make me wait for a discount price thats equal or less than the "early backer" price. i dont think im alone on this one.. am i?
