Amplitude (Harmonix) PS3/PS4 - KS (Funded, final day)

If we can kickstart sony Ips now, why cant we get a new kickstarted twisted metal the way fans want it? Sony should kickstart their old ips.
Did the PS3 one even break 1 million? First week NPD was 221k. Probably dropped off a cliff after that. Sony probably learned a lesson after that and now will do this Kickstarter thing instead. Intent of purchase gauging and all that.

If doing this allows us to get twisted metal, parapa, or midevil Id support it. Its the only way we will ever see those again.

I would also up my pledge if we get a Barkerville mp3 or track with the game.

It almost certainly didn't. Not sure if current subscribers to NPD know old numbers. Paging Aquamarine.

Just put $20 down but am really more interested in this for the vita. Pity. I played the amplitude demo a fee too many times as a kid so it's probably good I'm supporting it now.

Dude... Calling All Cars was and is brilliant. Probably gonna play it with some buddies this weekend.

Nah, what you want is old IP being handed off to ambitious low cost independent developers.

Almost doesn't matter what the numbers are, stuff like that is why we don't get IP Reboots. New ideas belong to new IP and old ideas deserve to get iterated to perfection. As far as I remember, Twisted Metal PS3 tried both. It didn't work out that well. Amplitude KS is (hopefully) the same as Amplitude PS2, just (presumably) shined to a mirror sheen.

There have been rumors of this happening

I really want this to make it so Kotaku can backtrack and go, "W-w-well we didn't know Amplitude had such a dedicated fan group!"

I get the feeling Kotaku would just say that they wrote it that way to get more people to believe that it might not actually make its goal, so that more people would feel the need to back it.

That's the exact opposite of how kickstarter mentality works though

If people believe it won't make it they're far far less likely to back it

Saw Kotaku's article about this...they sounded like it's not gonna meet the goal.

It's a pretty strange write-up. The title and first couple paragraphs are garbage, which is unfortunate since that's where the tone gets established. Then the rest of the article is more reasonable.

You'd think the article was written on Day 5 going by how pessimistic it starts off.

I haven't been following it, but did the majority of that $300K come from only a couple donors?
The number of backers has gone from around 6000 to over 10000 in the last few days, and in addition to that, existing backers have been bumping their pledges up

What's the Kotaku article everyone is down on? The one that Jason Schreier did today?

I think it was obviously a well-intentioned plea for help, but a little ridiculous to try and pretend that a disaster was about to happen. Getting 120K in the last 48 hours is seems pretty likely, given how close they are to being funded and the usual final days boost every Kickstarter gets.

People are talking about that article as if it was spiteful or venomous or something. The tone was bad, but I suspect they didn't want to write a "They're almost there - please pitch in!" story as it's seemingly bad form for the media to play cheerleader Kickstarter stuff.

I'm pretty sure it was around sub 200k like just a few days ago but now it actually looks like the goal would be hit. A first for games only on PS platforms?

Not a fan of the game, but it looks like a ton of people are passionate about this, so I backed for $20.
Hopefully this makes it.

Gotta keep the momentum coming. Hopefully there are plenty holding out to the 11th hour that have already been reached.
