Amplitude (Harmonix) PS3/PS4 - KS (Funded, final day)

Has anyone explained reasonably why Harmonix doesn't have the cash to make this themselves?

only in the sense it's a massive risk, and harmonix are only willing to throw a million at it. also that the only reason any of their projects happened previously was due to big publishers, this is a solo project for them and without the publisher support, they can't afford to make it, not without kickstarter.

^^^^ thank you

If they're really not sitting on a pile of money, that's bizarre. Didn't they have a $100m profit off of Dance Central a few years ago? I assumed that it was gonna cost $2m-ish or more considering Frequency cost that IIRC.

Sure, I guess the money has gotten spent on development but good lord.

Most of that money went to Viacom and it's respective shareholders.

Edit: Thought you were referring to money made off of Rock Band. It's likely a lot of profit made off of Dance Central went to Microsoft.

Them or their games? Because I imagine the vast vast vast majority of the profits of GH, rockband, etc were all to the publishers.

Do I want the game? Yes. I'm just a little miffed that Harmonix, developer of Guitar Hero, Rock Band and Dance Central apparently can't fund their own games.

We’re hoping to walk through the budget and where it goes in greater clarity with you, but in short – the $775,000 of this Kickstarter is less than half of the project budget for the game.

The $775,000 budget of this Kickstarter is *less than half* of the project cost for the game.

Even in the scenario where we raise the $800,000 or so on Kickstarter, we’ll be risking more of Harmonix’s money than we probably should – all because we want to make this game so badly. Harmonix had successes in the past that let us keep the studio going and make small games, but at this point our coffers as a company aren’t full enough to fund the entirety of Amplitude by ourselves. There isn’t a secret vault of Rock Band money that we’ve forgotten about.

Edit: ah late. Beaten

Y'all need to wake up and get back to backing and advertising. It ain't a done deal yet y'know. A bit closer to 100k left and 36-ish hours to go. And a ton have people have already upped their pledges. Y'all need new ones. If only they reveled a Vita version...

Would back this if it was also for Vita or PC, but unfortunately I don't/can't own a console at the moment.

Looks like it's gonna make it though, which is great news. Music games are awesome.

Just doubled my pledge from $20 to $40. May even go up to the next tier if things need a boost towards the end. I need this to be a part of my life.

Time for another foolhardy prediction:

It'll hit the target before the counter hits "20 hours to go".

And it's going to sit at the target for a while as people back down on their inflated pledges. I saw it happen with Sportsfriends, it was pretty crazy.

Hey Harmonix, I would totally upgrade my pledge if you could make the vinyl a separate add-on. It looks like there's still 1100 out of 1500 left, c'mon -- hock them to us.

Do they send european PSN code?

In the first hour of this Kickstarter I backed at $20, Tuesday morning I bumped it to $40. And as of last night, I'm at the $100 tier. Basically what I'm saying is if this doesn't reach it's goal soon who knows where that number will be in the next 30 hours.

I'm really impressed with this kickstarter, looked like there was no chance and now it's pretty much a done deal. Well done everyone funding away, I'd join in but I'm not sure when I'll be getting a PS4.

Ah, this game! so many memories.

I pledged $20 towards the project...god, fingers crossed.

I really hope this project becomes a reality...It'll give me a reason to hook up the ol' PS3 (or 4 by that time) again.

Do they send european PSN code?

Yes, since they specifically mentioned, that the $35 tier (where you get DLC for $20) isn't for people with EU PSN accounts:

Pledge $35 or more

Limited Edition DLC Package! FOR USERS WITH US PSN ACCOUNTS - Get PSN codes redeemable for Harmonix DLC, including Amplitude DLC post launch (a $20 value!). Includes a Cross-Buy code of the full game for PlayStation®4/PlayStation®3 at launch and your name in the game credits! (Latest tier information in the body of the page to the left <----). FOR US PSN ACCOUNTS ONLY!

So i guess everything else is also for us european folks.

Gone from $20 to $40 and wanted to go up again to $50 to help but the next one up is $70 which is too much for me. Particularly as I have to pay for international postage too. :(

If it's really close but not quite there with 10 hours left, I may temporarily forego my Kickstarter boycott and back the game. I'd rather buy the game on PSN though, I don't want Kickstarter getting any money from me.

Good morning, beautiful Harmonix loving people of the enlightened tribe of wonder! It looks like we're almost there. Do you know someone who loves EDM and video games? Then send them a tweet or an email or a text and tell them to jump on the blaster-wagon with us.

They stop auto-refreshing after a while. Left it open overnight and it was still stuck at $655k this morning.

Tell yourself this when you hammer the F5 key today.
