Maybe they don't think Vita is a good fit without L2/R2? Heck, put the money towards more music then.

Wow they're really waiting until it hits the goal to post the stretch goal(s)? Seems crazy to waste an hour or two but okay.
Original game supported face buttons, so the Vita should be fine. Could also do L,R,face button as well.
Sony own the IP which makes the whole thing sleazy as shit.
Why is it being crowd sourced in the first place if Sony is so invested in trying to get it funded? Oh look Sony's blog is telling people to fund it and the yosp fucker is tweeting about how he's giving $2k. I don't trust this to all be legit. I wouldn't be surprised if a large number of the backers are hundreds of accounts Sony made and donated $20 just to save face. It's a Sony first party game pretending to be an indie title.
That part is speculation though. I don't like to speculate too much.

I'm with you, it's really sort of shady and I think we're going to see more of this once this funds.Sony own the IP which makes the whole thing sleazy as shit.

And Insomniac's totally in on the deal, using it to promote a Microsoft published game by putting a Sunset Overdrive song in the game.
So I guess we've established MS is going to sell XBox division to Sony, and Sony's paying for it with old Rock Band codes. There's goes the big E3 surprise, thanks.
Yep! Posts were rubbish.EDIT: Well thank god that guy is gone. This is time for partying!
why didn't Harmonix pitch a spiritual sequel with a different title that they could have more freedom with?

If this was truly an indie passion project, if Sony really didn't want anything to do with it, why didn't Harmonix pitch a spiritual sequel with a different title that they could have more freedom with? Nope. This is a Sony IP appearing on only Sony systems and being promoted by Sony. It's the first corporate-sponsored Kickstarter game and it's probably going to open the doors for others to follow.
I used to face button until I realized how needlessly hard I was making it on myself.
They say it's unlikely, not that the stretch goal doesn't exist, so that probably means the amount of extra funding it would need is way above what they think is possible in 22 hours. The Vita stretch goal is probably at least 1-1,1 million, probably/possibly even more. Why no Vita? They've already said in FAQ its a stretch goal.

And if they wanted to work with Sony, Sony should have funded it.They talked about this in their stream yesterday - they could have made a generic "spiritual" successor but they were clear that they wanted to this to very much remain AMPLITUDE, and that includes keeping the name and working on it with Sony, who was the one that allowed them to make the first one in the first place.
This final 5k seems to be taking forever![]()

We're not funding Sony. We're funding Harmonix. Sony championed the campaign for self-interest of course as it will be Playstation exclusive game without them needing to fund its development. But Sony won't have any part on the sales revenue because of that. I for one am excited at the possibilities this campaign opens.

I'm kinda amazed that a Playstation exclusive kickstarter was able to raise close to a million dollars in crowd funding.
I want to back this, but locking away in-game content at the $100 level is not really sitting well with me.

I'm...eating my own post?
That doesn't even make sense.
They could use a variation of DJ Max's control scheme -- notes on left/up/right and square/triangle/circle for 1/2/3, L/R to switch tracks and down/X to use a power-up.Maybe they don't think Vita is a good fit without L2/R2? Heck, put the money towards more music then.
And a song. It's one ship, it's not like it's an entire game mode.
Mighty No. 9.Sony doesn't only own the IP, but also some of the mechanics. Hence it will be difficult to get around the IP and make a game in the same vain.
This is just sad. There's nothing shady about it. Harmonix wants to do it, Sony doesn't want to publish it due to bad sales in the past. Sony, however, gives Harmonix the option to use the IP if they can get the funding themselves. Harmonix crunches the numbers and figures out how much they can put their own money into it and deduces that they need about 800k from crowd funding to make it a reality.I'm with you, it's really sort of shady and I think we're going to see more of this once this funds.
