Project Update #19: Survey Says!
We recently sent out a survey asking which Sony platform you planned on using for Amplitude. I thought that I would drop in to give you a summary of the results.
First, I want to say that I am stunned at the awesomeness of this particular group of backers. Typically when one sends a survey out, you can expect a pretty tiny response rate (somewhere in the 2 to 10 percent range). For this survey, we heard from over 71 percent of Amplitude backers!
If you take a peek below, you will see the unedited results of the survey.
I admit that I was secretly hoping that the response would either be:
50/50 PS3/PS4 or
5/95 in either direction
Either of those would have sent a crystal clear message. The results are roughly 25/75, which is still a pretty big swing.
What does this mean for Amplitude? Both games will share all possible gameplay features (so long as the platform supports it). We are going to develop for the PS3 first, because it is the biggest risk, being the lower end hardware of the two platforms. Once it is up and running, we are moving to the PS4. Since the swing was so heavy toward the PS4, we now know that pushing PS4-ONLY features is very important.
You can rest assured that both versions will be as good as we can make it on each particular platform. This survey served an immediate purpose, but also we now have some data that can inform our day-to-day decisions, which will be based on the needs of the backers.
Thank you so much for participating in this way. You have already made a big impact on the active development of Amplitude. We will do our best to only hit you up with surveys when they are really needed (so as not to bother you), and we hope that participation remains high.
In the meantime, were working on a development update that will hit your inbox in the next couple weeks. Stay tuned.
Until next time,
Ryan
