It's basically an upgrade in every way possible. But is it one you could live without? That tis the question.

My friend texted me and said he got the Jelly Bean update pushed to his phone this morning from Verizon. He has a Razr (can't remember if it's the MAXX or not), and he said he likes the update so far.

at that price probably not. Unless you would keep it for 2 years at least then I'd say it's not a bad upgrade. But then you'll see the S5 and the cycle will continue

It's not, but people need to get over this need to upgrade every year phone wise anyways. Honestly there is no reason why most of the phones released in 2012 shouldn't easily last people till 2014.

I am more interesting in installing W8 on tablets with proper 16:10 or 4:3 screens and more power efficient soc.

A concern of mine too. However it seems 9-10 hours of heavy usage is what it's clocked at. Perfectly fine for me. Seems a little better than what I'm currently getting out of my 4s so I should transition easy.

This phone certainly looks like the rumours indicated (aluminum edge, more s2 design aka slightly less rounded, and so on. It also looks much much thinner than that one in the leaked video which is comically thick for a samsung phone).
