Only thing I worry about is performance. Sure the S4 Pro is a big step up over the S4, but going from 720p aka less than 1 million pixels to 1080p aka over 2 million pixels is a rather large jump. Plus I worry about apps looking good as they won't be coded for that resolution (yes yes I know scaling..).

blown up phone apps... ON A PHONE!!!

Uggh...just rooted my girl's HTC Flyer today and tried to flash Jellybean on it, but I think I screwed up...infinite loops, and I can't even get into recovery!

WTF is this shit!

Yeah we usually get a good selection on AT&T... every once in a while we get hosed by Verizon on an exclusive... instead we get a shitty One X+

That's what Verizon gets by not getting a one X..

I would so get the nexus 4.. But no lte is just sad..

I was going to get the note 2 but I want that J butterfly more so... Just how I like my one x over the my gs3.

I thought it was impossible for an Android to run smoothly with just a 600 MHz processor.

I already know from reviews that the HTC Desire C is sluggish.

I wonder why the demo model that I've played with is anything but?

Any chance we will see the HTC J Butterfly outside of Japan anytime soon?

I would love to consider the butterfly but HTC just don't understand the need for good battery.

Hell I even like Sense...and I don't mind the fact that they avoid android updates. No good battery though is what kills it's consideration.

I'm curious, do you only have to be on android 4.0 to use an otg cable, or is it a hardware thing?

I've asked a few times but don't think I got a response.....

are there any Miracast enabled Google TVs out there now that 4.2 supports streaming? or coming soon? For $99?

Apple TV is the one thing I am jealous of my iOS friends.

You could always get a Nexus Q.

EDIT: btw, that thing is dreadful.

I'm sure it's hardware.

Actually I used my OTG cable with my G2 on gingerbread a few months back.

That's awesome. I plan on picking one up. its like my phone has a new life.

Gingerbread was a fucking waste. My phone runs so much better now than it did when I was using.

Boy did my iPhone loyalty rate thread blow up. There's still a lot of confusion about what Android even does. I suspect that should change in a couple of years.

Now lets start hearing some KLP rumors.

Super jelly...want that 1080p...hopefully the GS4 which I am deadset on getting will have a 1080p screen....I just don't see another phone ticking all the boxes like that one will...

except for maybe screen

I'm ok with samoled even though I like SLCD better....I just hope its RGB stripe and not either Pentile matrix or even RGB matrix...

At this point, I want a Nokia 808 camera more than a 1080p screen. I honest can't see the "pentile" on my Note 1 screen.

If next year Samsung out with 1080p 5" screen for S4 and 6" screen for Note 3, plus a dualcore A15 soc inside, that...pretty much max out the hardware. That seem to be a strange thing to say, but what else can you add to the phone?

when i read that news i was like "no way i'm making that GAF thread" and just went on to the next article.

clearer louder stereo speakers, dual mic stereo recording, 3d recording/screen, capacitive touch thru gloves, projector output, more ram, better camera, better battery life

Quad-core A15 would be nice, for starters. 64 GB of storage model available at launch, not 6 months later internationally and never in the US. Support for decoding Dolby AC-3 and TrueHD, and DTS HD and DTS HD Master Audio. Overhaul of Touchwiz so it follow the Holo UI guidelines instead of Gingerbread. Optical image stabilization in the camera module without making it a fatty like the Lumia 920.

Why did you strikethrough 3D screen? They could do it like the 3DS and have it be auto-stereoscopic.

i listed that as a joke entry. HTC, LG and Sharp already tried that gimmick.

So, Apple is not willing to sell me an unlocked iPhone 5. The N4 being $350 (almost half the price) with an S4 Pro has me intrigued. But, I'm heavily invested in the iOS ecosystem so I need to know first if there are comparable alternatives to the apps and services I rely on.

When I mean comparable, I'm not talking just about functionality. I mean the whole package. I need comparable apps that don't sacrifice on design, speed, and fluidity. Animations and touch input need to be smooth like the OS--I don't want any lag. If anyone has used any of these apps on iOS, what would you recommend as a comparable alternative on Android?

And if not, what are the best apps in each category? They don't have to be free.

1. Reeder, a Google Reader client. I need things like a readability mobilizer, gestures for going between articles and marking articles as read or starring them. I need read later services like Instapaper. I don't want apps like Feedly or Flipboard that make it into a magazine--I want an app that quickly shows the headlines of articles in a list so I can quickly get to what I want to read.

2. Tweetbot, a twitter client. Easy access to conversation and reply views, inline thumbnails for links, gestures (replying, favoriting, etc), readability mobilizer, sending to instapaper, tweet marker, tweet detail pages. Lots and lots of functionality, yet well designed.

3. Delivery Status, a package tracker. It syncs with the dashboard widget to provide up to date delivery tracking. It auto detects tracking numbers when inputting them and nicely matches them with the respective service (like Fedex or UPS).

4. Notes. Built into iOS, I use it a TON to sync quick snippets between my Mac and phone. Automatic cloud syncing in the background is absolutely crucial. Is there an app like this, that can instead sync with Dropbox? I can use Notational Velocity on my Mac if it can.

5. Find my iPhone. Self explanatory. I need something that will track my phone and provides options like remote lock, wipe, send message, and so on.

6. Things, a GTD app. Absolutely love the Mac app for keeping track of projects and lists of things I need to finish. They don't make an Android app and it would pain me to stop using it. A phone app isn't crucial to me, but it would be nice. What do you guys use that syncs with a mac app?

7. Calcbot, a calculator. History, advanced functions, parenthesis, etc. It's also extremely pretty. What options do I have?

So that's apps. Next, I need to know about OS and system level services.

1. Over the air backups and restores. Automatic daily iCloud backups are wonderful and very useful to me. What's the option here?
2. I have all of my contacts in iCloud also. I assume I'll have to transfer them over to my Gmail? Have they fixed the low res contact photo bug?
3. Music syncing. I cannot stand drag/drop for transferring music. I just like to sync my starred music in iTunes. I don't think this phone will sync with iTunes. What are my options?
4. Since flash is discontinued, I'm curious how it will handle sites that serve video. On iOS, every site serves me efficient and smooth HTML5 video. Is it the same here? Can I switch my user agent to iOS Safari to get HTML5 video?
5. I noticed there's no physical silent switch. How do I mute all system sounds and alerts, but keep my alarms and music unmuted?

Thanks! I'll have plenty more questions once I think of them…

No offense your list read like the options on a mercedez brochure. I can't find anything useful on it.

So what's to do with you are baiscally fantasy features that have nothing to do with reality?

64GB is a fantasy feature? Really? Somebody better tell Apple those 64GB iP5s they are selling are a fantasy. Someone better tell Samsung those 64GB GSIIIs they sell outside the US are a fantasy.

I want decoding of the HD audio formats for when I connect the phone to my home theater using the MHL output. I don't exactly know how practical it would be to use a phone as a media center but it would be fun to try. This is the only thing I listed which might be verging on fantasy status.

I want Touchwiz to stop looking like it's late 2009. Is that really a fantasy feature to you? Making Touchwiz look prettier?

And really I just want OIS so the Lumia fans would STFU about it. That's no fantasy, there's a phone that has it already.

A lil off topic.. After the rather dissapoiting camera of the lumia 920(from what I read).
I'm getting the pureview 808..to really see how good the camera and the rich audio recording is..
..Compare to my rx100.

the one x and the gs3s camera are .. well it's Ok but not better than the iphone 5.

Lots o STUFF

Thanks! I'll have plenty more questions once I think of them…

-Google Reader has its own app, looks very much like the app you posted.
-There are numerous "find my phone apps" that all have the functionality you are looking for
-The new Google Now goes into your gmail and pulls out package tracking information and puts it in your Google Now page while tracking

1- This is one of the things lacking from Google. There is no simple system wide backup. You can do it manually from your computer, but its not ideal and its not "easy". Its a gap.
2- Contacts photo bug has been fully fixed
3- Google is launching their own "match" service this month for free. You will need to use Google Music, you can store 20,000 songs for free.
4- Most sites using chrome will show you html5 since it doesnt support flash. You can also change your agent if you want to
5- You hold the power button for a few seconds and it brings up a menu to make your phone silent (silent/vibrate/normal). It will not affect your music

I use feedr for daily feeds and Reader HD for weekly feeds. Feedr is not pretty but it update feed faster than anything else including reeder on iOS. I ride subway in NYC so I need a google reader app that can cache feeds and photos very quickly and properly.

On Android, sending article to Pocket (formerly readitlater) is much easier than doing it on iOS. We don't have instapaper becase that dude whose name shall not be mentioned is a hilarious hardcore Apple evangelist.

3. Delivery Status, a package tracker. It syncs with the dashboard widget to provide up to date delivery tracking. It auto detects tracking numbers when inputting them and nicely matches them with the respective service (like Fedex or UPS).

I use shiprack. You need to setup gmail to forward all email with delivery info to shipwack.. But after you set it up. Its extremely handly. You don't need to do one single thing. The moment you get the "your delivery info" email, shiprack will start tracking it for you. You get notice for "out for delivery" and "delivered" update too.

4. Notes. Built into iOS, I use it a TON to sync quick snippets between my Mac and phone. Automatic cloud syncing in the background is absolutely crucial. Is there an app like this, that can instead sync with Dropbox? I can use Notational Velocity on my Mac if it can.

1 Titanium Backup is better than anything on any other system including Windows you should switch for that alone
2 Yeah
3 Upload you library to google music
4 You still can easily install old flash apk on your Android phone. Although most porn site can trigger steaming with video app now. I recommend Dice Player.
5 A good custom rom will let you put silence and 1000 million other switches on the notification screen. Or you can install Notification Toggles. This field is Android's streigth.

what is the best phone camera out currently?

pure view?

I believe tino's opinion concerning cameras, he recommended me to get the rx100 in the camera tread... Wow I'm so glad I took he's advice, the rx100 is amazing... I took some amazing shot that I knew I couldn't have done with any p&s or the pureview 808.

Sony RX100 >= Nikon 1 series > Nokia 808 > Rest of the $400 highend P&S > rest of the $200 low end P&S > iPhone >= One X/Nokia 920 > rest of the phones.

That's sad that the lumia 920 is not even better than the iphone 4s/5.

Also I think the one x camera is better than the gs3.

where does that galaxy camera fit in to that model?

the dedicated android point and shoot one

Here is how I compare the cameras. First find the sensor size. This is the biggest deciding factor. Its extremely hard to find this info. You usually have to google "model name sensor size".

The iPhone sensor is 1/3.2". That is pretty much the tent pole. Apple can get better camera hardware because they have money to throw around and order custom parts.

Most of the top end phone cameras have 1/3-1/3.2" sensors, and vast majority of them are from Sony.

If you get a 5mp camera its most likely 1/4" sensor size so thats automatically one class lower.

Without looking at the S3 camera I assume its also a 1/3" sensor and the image quality is similar to other top tier models. I don't use phone cameras so I personally don't care which one is 5% better.
