Android |OT7| Now With a Whole New Messaging System

I linked my Axon 7 to my Bluetooth speaker that I bought 2 years ago. Man, it sounded worse. It really made me appreciate my phone's dual front facing speakers.

is there really anything left to be said about the axon 7 atm?

solid hardware, not the best camera processing software. And the 'additions' to somewhat stock android are all kinda blergh.

They mentioned they are working on fixes to the common complaints, so hopefully we get those sooner than later.

Pretty much the only negative is whether or not their promise to keep the phone updated in a timely manner is all talk.

I'm enjoying it myself.

I mean the whole thing is if the module is better than what's stock people would just rather have the module built in.

Unless of course it can't be built in due to space in which case consumers could give a fuck. Obviously you can't find a DSLR lens on your smartphone, but they sell stand alone cameras for that.

Other than just space and storage idk what else people would even want that they wouldn't say just build it in.

Cases arent sexy seems to be the main pitch.

Last year's is getting monthly security updates and got marshmallow in Feb so it's about in line with most oem.

If they can keep that going with this phone I'll be happy.

I'll be keeping an eye on the new Nexus coming soon. But I'm surprised at how happy i am with the phone.

T-Mobile service strength is definitely better than with my Nexus 6P and battery is way better.

look at the Nexus 5X. Prices drop to $250 all the time. Expect lower after next gen is out soonish.

Yeah, I thought about it since I own one and I enjoy it, but it might be a tad too pricey for her. Maybe if she'll hold a bit longer until the next Nexus the price will drop more.

6P owners, what values do you get in Ampere for min and max mA when charging? Also what's the max. USB curr when using the included charger? Mine seems to be around 800mA with the highest being 1200mA, and the max. USB curr at 1500. It also no longer says 'charging rapidly' on the lock screen, no matter how low the battery % is.

V20 render? V20 render:

Looks to have an IR blaster, so that'll please the Furyous' of the world

Yeah, that was the other one I was thinking about. Better processor than the P9000, but less RAM, no SD Card support. And I believe it isn't compatible with 800Mhz 4G? Not sure if that would effect me at all though.

It has microsd support (hybrid sim/microsd slot). Dunno about 4G though.

My dog was murdered by a 3.5mm audio port and I will not rest until the standard is dead
That's a render, alright. Let me know if the real thing looks that good.

Looks like the first update for the Axon 7 is out.

We would like to make you aware of a device update that is currently available on your Axon 7. This update(B20) provides some enhancements to the UI, includes a new Google Security update and optimizes battery performance. Most of your ideas here in the community are currently being reviewed by our R&D team to be verified and tested for upcoming releases. You can perform the update on your device by going to Settings-->Updates--> then pressing the "Next" button. Your device will see the new update and ask if you want to download and install. Stay tuned, we have some more surprises up our sleeve this week!!

when your camera hump is that big, might as well make the whole thing a bit thicker and uniform and stick in a bigger battery/more features lol.

Will install the axon update later after my work call.

And make sure to use an adblocker on porn sites.

I'm pretty sure 99% of all malicious stuff on the internet is gotten from porn sites.

Really annoying how solid the adblocker setup is on ios compare to android which requires rooting, or using firefox or other browsers that I've always found a bit clunky.

Axon 7 is on July update. Some of the battery menu UI changed, don't see an option to turn off the bell for notification yet but will dig around.

I'm so glad with microSD support. My use cases so far:
- offline storage of Spotify content so you can listen everywhere (e.g. during commute) without any extra mobile data usage
- virtual reality content
- via article: offline Google Maps areas
- use your device as USB stick

Anyone have any more use cases for an overabundance of disk space?
I have a 128GB microSD.

Google embracing external storage options on mobile? Well I never!

A good day indeed.

Maybe HTC Nexus will finally have SD card... one can dream I guess. I have to wonder how they even test SD card support internally if their own devices don't have SD card.

seems to be some minor bugs fixed and july security update.

the forum post mentioned they've taken community feedback and will incorporate in future updates, so thats good.

I feel like at this point, axon 7 is a good buy. all the issues are super minor (install a 3rd party lockscreen if you need notification, i'm already muscle memory down with the buttons etc).

http://www.androidauthority.com/6gb-galaxy-note-7-china-708023/

A post on Weibo showing off some promotional material for the Galaxy Note 7’s launch in China claims that the price for the 6GB RAM / 128GB storage model will be 6088 yuan ($910). This would make the phone just a tad more expensive than the regular model that features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, which is stated to retail for 5688 yuan ($853).

That seems like a rather small price difference for a notable upgrade to storage space, so again treat this rumor with some scepticism. After all, we’re still waiting for an official launch in China to confirm the existence of the 6GB RAM model anyway. According to the same post, we should see Chinese pre-orders begin on August 26th, ahead of a September 2nd release date. So there isn’t too long left to wait.

~$50 more for double the storage and 2gb more ram... too good to be true? It's still $900 for a phone though lol.

Yeah it is and I'll file a claim. But I'm still thinking they're going to just say it's my fault since I dropped it and make me pay for it.

I don't think thats how any battery tech works lol.

It's not like the battery is a mario powerup where it gets smaller everytime it takes damage.

I just learned iOS doesn't have a haptic feedback option for their keyboard.

How do people live without it?

Haptic feedback is terrible. I remember the first time typing on a friends' N4 and had to turn that shit off. What is the point of vibrating feedback? It seems like a waste of resources.

I am happy the V20 has an IR blaster. Now come out and clarify Daydream compatibility LG and release a 5.2 inch model of the V20.

What's the difference between the H860 and H850 variants of the G5? Both are sold on a discount but that discount is not deep enough for me yet.

I don't like how the stock calculator doesn't have haptic feedback unless there's a way to turn it on.

What calculators do you use?

It's to simulate the press on a keyboard button. You can feel every touch. Without it I find myself to be too cautious while typing.

Also, if you have the keyboard open and you accidentally touched the keyboard (eg you were typing but have to cross the road), you immediately know it since you felt a touch. No need to check the typed content first.

Though note you can customize the vibration duration. I prefer it quite short.
The vibration should in no way be that strong that it hinders or annoys you.

Okay now I'm really worried about my 6p battery I had at least 15% left and it just shut itself off.
I just replaced my note 4 battery for a new one a few days ago. Did the same thing. I took some screen shots of the battery screen but the guy at the Samsung stand i went just believed me and replaced it at no cost. I love having two year warranty here in Spain. So my almost two years old phone feels like new:)

Maybe fast charging harms batteries faster than standard charging.

I don't need or want to feel every touch because with a touch screen device you are looking at the screen and keyboard while typing. When typing on a traditional keyboard you are looking at the screen instead of the keyboard, so the feel of the keyboard is important.

Also, I use swipe typing so vibration while sliding across the screen would be annoying, and a huge waste of battery.

Haptic feedback is nice even when swiping. It jutt vibrates every time you start a new word, subtle enough to know you are doing it right. Anyway as long it is optional I do not see this being a problem. Just disable it.

Join me in the wireless present, you futuristic mother fucker.

Bro, I'm not giving up my Fidelio X1's.

Also I actually do have a pair of Bluetooth sports headphones I use for running, a $10 Bluetooth speaker I picked up at Best Buy to blast random tunes at work, and I have tried streaming to the built-in Bluetooth receiver on my Denon X4200W receiver. My parents have a recent model Toyota Sienna minivan which has Bluetooth and I've played some music over that too. I'm no wireless Luddite.

The reality is that Bluetooth audio quality is pretty shit, the connection cuts out all the time on both the expensive receiver and the moderately priced minivan pretty much whenever it feels like it resulting in music skipping, and it fucking kills my phone's battery. I'm sorry, I'll take a decades-old reliable connection from the headphone jack in my phone to my headphones, speakers, or receivers any day of the week over Bluetooth for any serious listening.

I do love running with my Bluetooth sports headphones though, the wire does get in the way during that one single scenario and let's face it, I'm not listening seriously to anything when I'm putting the miles in on my treadmill or the pavement so the audio quality is meaningless during that one activity.

Everything else, Bluetooth can go fuck itself. I'll use that 3.5mm AUX port until the day I die. You'll pry it from my cold, dead hands.

Fast charging kills batteries much faster than slow charging. The amount of thermal and electrochemical stress placed on the battery by fast charging dramatically shortens it's lifespan. This isn't a big deal on a phone with a user-replaceable battery like the Note 4. On phones without user-replaceable batteries, you better stick to that 2-year upgrade cycle because it's about how long a battery constantly being fast-charged will last before it dies.

'fast charging' is about 0.5C charging which is within the maximum which is about 0.75C.

Shouldn't have any noticeable impact on battery life over anything else that affects battery life.

Also don't listen to people swear by 'have to do full discharges to save battery life' or really any other myths.

my not fast-charging iphone has shit battery life around when the 1 year warranty expired lol.

QC gotten better each iteration with power and efficiency.

Does nexus even use snapdragon QC though? Thought it was just normal usb-c.
