As other have confirmed, it stays the same. It also completely transfers over your friend's list. None of them will even know you made a change unless you say something.

Did Thor intentionally make this so because I'm a devout follower of his musical flavourings? I guess I'll know the answer for sure when I see if this yin to my yang inhabits my village.

HE not only plays on Saturdays, but he DJs the rest of the week at Club LoL. Sadly he isn't available at all until you build that, so it could be a few days to a month before you start getting his music.
Saturday is when you can get a song from him, on other nights he performs as a DJ. I hope it isn't too late to catch him past midnight...
