Haven't played an Animal Crossing game since the first one at launch. Found this post from '02 over at Neoseeker.

Can almost feel my carefree, 12-year-old self at the innermost sanctum of my soul pleading for my return...

Not sure if I can do it.

Aw hell naw!

Well, maybe, shush! I'll have trapdoors for the filthy fruit thieves though!
Ill build a lab in my house where I can produce bottomless pitfall seeds. >:D
That would be nice! Too bad I am too musically inept to try. :V

The hardest part is making it yourself if you can't find someone who has. D:
Or finding sheet music for the song and seeing it has a bunch of sharps/flats :(

quick question, about taking screenshots, is there anyway to share them online?

Yes, they are saved to the SD card. Japan has a system where you can share them without taking the card out, hopefully they bring that over. I think it's confirmed for EU.

Hah, adorable.

Have you been using the same avatar for 11 years? That's dedication.

Well... I'm sure its leagues better than City Folk lmao. But that's weird that you ask that though. I don't recall that all too often. Then again I usually have my DS on sleep mode.

Haha, yeah, I just recall playing it in 06-08 or so, then playing things on iOs in 08-09 and feeling really spoiled when I tried to back to ACWW.

I think I'll probably get the digital version, though. And I really don't ever turn off my 3DS, I just put it in the cradle at night, and throw it in my pocket during the day. So I'll probably actually have the game running most of the time for quite some time, I bet.

This is literally a website.

https://i.nintendo.net/

I asked earlier if someone could try it with an early copy of US/EU New Leaf; don't know if anyone did. But it does detect what game the screenshot came from and will apparently only post those from New Leaf or Tomodachi. I was able to set it up but not post anything since I have neither game.

There's also the third-party tw3ds, which I have played a bit with. http://tw3ds.com/

I'm going for this day 1 against my instincts. I'm new to the series and are filling out the GAF friend schema. I don't know what to choose on the content rating on my village, as I know nothing of the game?

edit: made it X because why not

PG - Safe for Kids
PG-13 - Safe for Teens
R - Swearing/curse words abound (villagers can adopt those offensive phrases)
X - Pornographic images (You can customize your texture tiles into genitalia if you like)

The game supports custom content in the form of textures on clothing, the ground, etc.

You also have a degree of control over what your neighbors say, as "catchphrases".

Content rating is a guideline for other users to get a general idea how...mature, you plan on having your custom content.

If you're carefree about that kind of thing, that's cool. It's mostly as a warning to those who want to keep it clean or have kids. Some people are more sensitive about content than others and it's a good way to let people know where you stand.

lol, why would someone do this

Cause that's how they roll. :p

I was thinking of setting my rating to X as in anything is allowed, but it probably won't go above pg, so eh

Yes, I see. I don't care about what others do, but I wont be making dick pictures in my yard, that's for sure! :)

Suppose my friends and I are trying to set up some kind of fruit trading syndicate. How easy or hard would it be to try to get, say, pears in my village and mangoes on my main island? Will i have to restart the game a bunch of times to get that? Will I even know immediately what my village/island has?

If my info is correct, to find out what fruit you have on the island could take up to a week. So that would make it a pain to reset. It would be best to just trade people for the fruit you want.
what's all this music talk? can you make your own music in the game? or do you choose from presets?

You can customize the town tune. It plays at the change of every hour and its the jingle that you hear when you initiate a conversation with the neighbors.

I am looking forward to this Animal Crossing title. Me and my Girlfriend are thinking of buying one retail and one digital version so we can enjoy being mayor of our own town.

Also, what kind of town themes do you all use. I've been using Dr.Mario's theme since the GameCube game lol. But I may try a new one this time around. :)

It's a little tune that plays in your town whenever certain events are triggered(talking to a villager, clock bell rings, etc.) You can customize it to be whatever you want it to sound, although it has to be short.

OMFG. You guys.... I just realized what'll be my town tune. Professor Layton's main puzzle tune will be IT for me. I'll LOVE IT FOREVER. I now just need to figure out how to uh... apply it. I don't know the process at all.

Thanks. Once you get fruit from someone elses town you can plant a tree of that fruit in your town, correct?

Wow that's awesome!

I'm not sure if I'm going to pick this up or not.

My only experience with Animal Crossing was City Folk on the Wii and I didn't really 'get it'. I've heard the handheld iterations are different, are there any reasons as to what exactly makes the handheld games better?

I really wish I could try out New Leaf before committing to it but I don't think a demo would serve much purpose for a game like Animal Crossing.

I remember one of my first post on an internet forum and it was on K.K. songs on Wild World.
Back in 2006, when I was just 14 (probably 13 when the game came out).
I'm a grown boy now. *MANLY TEARS*

I'll be blunt, City Folk is terrible. But uh... if you don't "get it", don't bother.

What made CF not the best game is because it was essentially WW ported.

I think portable games are better because you can easily whip out your 3DS and do a few minutes of jobs and chores then close it up. Multiplayer is easy to do, online and local and in this AC, there's so much content, so much upgrades and so so so much customisability and events to last you years to come. Try it, seriously. You might just love it.

I personally preferred the WW version to CF.

OH! Why did I not think of that! Must think of something better. D:

Yes, this time around there is some new features with fruit.
The towns original fruit may spawn as perfect forms which you can sell at other peoples town for 3k a piece.
Is it not smart to get from amazon? I got prime but it's still 2 day delivery :(
The Sunday release date makes it a bad choice cause its Sunday. ]:

Try a quick Google search, you can probably find it if someone else has done it.

Don't be an anus philia. The handhelds are much better because they are very easy to have on all the time. Less barrier to jumping in. And thats the beauty of the game. Just jumping in. Flip it open for 10 mins to see what's going on and close it. It is meant to be on hand held.

I would say roll the dice and get it. It's only 30 bucks anyways :p

That's what I was sort of assuming too. A play session of 30-40 minutes a day seems like it'd be fine for Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Plus, a lot of what I've seen of New Leaf has me more interested than City Folk ever did. My only hesitation comes from whether or not I'll continue playing it down the line. It seems like a game that'd be better suited digitally purchased than physical.

That's kinda why I like playing long RPGS like Final Fantasy or the Shin Megami Tensei games on handhelds. For me, handhelds are the best way to play long RPGs
