Keep things you get from places besides the Nookings' store and gifts from other villagers. Some things can't be rebought later. Once you have access to your catalog, you'll be able to see what is safe to sell.

So as soon as you shoot down the required number of balloons, then the silver slingshot gets added to the list of balloons that can pass overhead. It has an X% chance of being the next balloon just like any balloon furniture item has X% chance of passing through. Same with the golden slingshot, except I believe it's percentages are much lower.

It just prevents a situation where a player either by misshooting or not knowing it was there, misses these slingshots.

Anyway, it's just the random number generator at work. I got my first silver slingshot today, as well as 3 balloon closets. >___<

It's not that I have zero silver slingshots. I have zero slingshots, period. AFAIK, there's never been an opportunity for me to get one.

No problem. Glad to have the T-Rex complete now.

Fossils trading has been going very well today. I expect one more visitors bringing over some fossils as well. Going to reach 15 new fossils in one day I think :p

What about the shells on the beach in the beginning are they important to keep? I'm just selling bugs (not already in museum) and shells right now but maybe I shouldn't be?

Shells aren't important. You can have Cyrus make you a custom music box with one, but that's it.

Bugs and fish and stuff you find in nature are all fine to sell. Giant clam shells come in handy later but they're infinite so it doesn't matter if you sell them or save them now.
