yeah, MDR means "Mort de rire", laughing to death. This translation is OK. But Kéké Laglisse, it sounds like a male pornstar from the 70's. the kind with a moustache.
When I see the screenshots posted here, It seems like english translation has more humor, is less childish than the French one.

K. K. Slider sort of sounds like a male pornstar too if you think about it. I mean, he is a late night underground DJ after all.
Are there any other examples of bad translation?

Totally agree, jokes just aren't that good either, been thinking about going english lately. Tried spanish the other day, 2 minutes and went back to french, so at least it's not as bad as that.

Nothing precise come to my mind atm, but when you catch a bug or a fish, jokes are quite lame...
french Tv ad is quite ugly too. A girl in the sunset with the opening piano music of the game saying that animal crossing is her secret garden, and then she waters plants, this kind of things.
This game has a very subtle humor, and the way it is handled here doesn't make this aspect justice.
But it seems it sells, so...
And damn, I already played it more than MK7. This game warps time.

Yeah. I thought nothing would beat the 70+ hours I have in MK7. Checked today, I'm already at 100+ hours in Animal Crossing. This game is crack.
I like Kapp'n. in the Japanese game he is called Kappei which I don't think means anything - just alliteration because he is a Kappa. A kappa is a river imp that for some reason you can ward off with cucumbers (which is perhaps why he sings about them a lot)
But in the west he isn't a kappa,he's apparently a turtle (maybe we couldn't understand a kappa easily). But his name Kapp'n is a nice play on home being a kappa, as well as obviously cap'n (captain). Perhaps just nice coincidence

Yep, I do think that english version has the best translation and puns. The spanish one is not so bad afterall, but things like Kapp'n dissapear compeltly (here he is called Captain without any joke what so ever). Then the Al Pacas are called Paca (the female) and Al (the male), easy joke there (Paca is a typical old lady name here though lol). The Nook kids are called Tendo and Nendo (I suppose it's a joke with Nintendo), and KK Slider is know as Totakeke. The change I most hate though is Resetti to Rese T. Ado, loosing all the italian meaning, and its a pretty bad translation without any joke. I think all people call him in Spain Mr Resetti because of the horrible name in spanish and the english one being better, yep, you fucked up there spanish translators. Reminds me of translators changing the name of Groundhog Day to Atrapado en el tiempo (Trapped in time) and people calling the movie El dia de la marmota (Groundhog Day) even if its not its official name here.
