Supposedly, yes. I water them anyway, though, because paranoia.
If you have access to a different town, perfect fruits are quite efficient. An orchad of 30 trees means 270k twice a week, faster than the island for the same amount. You just have to replant them each month.
And you can easily have 100+ trees, so possibly several millions a week for very little work.

I got my first black rose yesterday, and it appeared in the middle of a red and yellow rose bed. No red roses were touching, though it did appear between two red roses, which is very weird. I'm still trying to work that one out.

I take it there's no easy way to start the perfect fruit train rolling, is there?
I had a perfect orange on my first day which I accidentally ate and haven't had one grow in any of my harvests since.
I suppose I could always trade for a perfect orange from someone else.
Possibility: remember that a parent can act as one of its ancestors in a cross, and that flowers can spawn themselves. So (and this is quite a bit of a long shot, admittedly), consider a yellow spawn from a red/yellow pair, acting as its red parent to cross with another red to make a black.
...I'm not sure this is the right explanation, but maybe? I don't believe I've seen a child spawn between parents.
This has got to be the most complex game system Nintendo has ever invented. :lol

I think I'm going to have to trade this game away. Not that I don't enjoy it, but I just got my 3DS recently and have lots I want to play, and instead I keep playing AC because I feel like if I don't I'm falling behind/missing out/etc. I know this is my own mental hurdle, but it feels like if I have the game I need to try and get the most out of it, but I was having more "fun" playing Theatrhythm last night, yet stopped because "Oh god not getting the max bells I can!"
Or maybe I can be less psycho.

I'm not entirely sure about rain, but I read that rain will prevent flowers from wilting. It's odd that your rose wilted...

I always get this way with these types of games, where if a day goes by where something could in theory be constructed, or money could be earned, or something, then I feel I'm wasting time if I don't ensure it happens that day. It's definitely my issue. Oh well.
That's what I assumed happened. It's impossible to keep track of which flowers have been bought and which have been bred now though. It's not something I want to spend time thinking about. I'm happy with the odd surprise!
Except for my purple and orange rose beds though. I've got my beady eye on those bad boys.

Oh yeah and like I was trying to say in your town I was surprised cause I bought that painting on a whim and it ended up being the same one (only one I've donated so far) I stuck in the museum, or at the very least it's the fake version of it lol. But as I said I just wanted something to put up in my house anyway

Pattern mule characters are handy for triggering this sooner.
Only needs 5 visits to every one of your villagers instead of 20 just to the mayor.
Will also make it quicker to raid Saharah's inventory (provided you've upgraded them from tents to houses).
The bought vs. bred variable only comes into play for red roses, correct?

It's actually possible to do this? I was thinking about making a mule character or so for storage purposes but now that I know about this is might really help. I'm just worried about my mules taking up space set aside for other various things in my town.

Also, increased storage space is handy, and you can design more rooms.
And store patterns, 10 is far too few (I've used all of them for the roads and the flag).
But what is the best way to exchange things between players? Leaving items on the floor?

I can't be the only one who misses the shopping card aspect of the previous game, can I?
I mean, it's not like you have to spend a lot of money, but it's better than carrying bags of money around.
