What drought? Between new games and my backlog, I'm drowning.

Really? Pretty sure the OP is talking about the current gen only, in which case there's most certainly a drought. We had some mediocre launch games, then nothing for three months straight, then a demo and a game in March (which lasts about 10 hours if you're on PS4)
This has been worse than the Wii U launch/launch window by all accounts. At least there was a couple interesting launch exclusives and then the GOTY in March with Monster Hunter
Didn't notice the drought on PC.
If there's a such a thing as too many games, that's happening on PC right now.
No drought for me. Infamous and Ground Zeroes last month, FFXIV this month, MLB, Transistor and Watch Dogs next month, Destiny beta soon after. How many games does one need?
My Korean friend is one of those guys who just sticks to one or two games a year, and fully dedicates to them. For the last few years it's been SF IV. This year, it's Dark Souls 2. He's made like 10 builds/save files to test each class, and he has I don't know how many hours total on that game. When I was creating a new build on his 360 over at his place, he was just giving me fantastic pointers for what class was good for what stuff. Amazing dedication.
Between PS4, Vita, WiiU, 3DS and PC, I'm not even noticing a drought, so many games, so little time![]()
Pretty much this. I primarily play PC so aside from indies my usual staple of games are reliant on multiplats, and due to the new gen things are pretty dry right now in that arena. Sort of looking forward to Watch Dogs but tbh it seems like it might be kind of bland and another by-the-numbers Ubi open worlder (though I did enjoy Black Flag immensely), Dark Souls II doesn't appeal to me because that kind of difficulty just isn't my cup of tea. I do have a Wii U so of course I'll get MK8, Smash etc, cause what else am I gonna play on that system? Just waiting for a new Naughty Dog/SSM game to lure me in and I'm a go for getting a PS4![]()
More than enough games to play on my Xbox One right now and for the next two or three months, and its safe to bet that even more will come after E3. Its why I got rid of my PS4 for now. Sony just has their focus split between too many platforms.

Destiny beta. That's confirmed?

Yep, AAA is going to languish, and perhaps the only hope is the Chinese market opening fully for consoles. The phenomenon you're observing is here to stay. Every major publisher has cut SKU counts due to skyrocketing budgets and severe risk aversion. EA releases about one tenth the number of games they once did. And you should expect more current publishers to die than new publishers to emerge going forward. It's time to either diversify your tastes, consider independent offerings and platforms, dive into a backlog, or get used to the new normal.
I have a backlog that could choke a donkey. I'll be alright.
Wow, better sell up my Ps4;s and get an xbox one then.
Great post, will inspire.
Your so right, Ps4 strategy is just totally wrong, Sony must be kicking themselves. Very insightful.
Are people really still convinced of and hung up on this? Sigh. "On principle" ends when the hardware came out since we're able to make our own decisions based on what actually exists. Generally that means one's principles are nothing more than "there's stuff I want to play on it".I was speaking for myself. I wasn't suggesting anything of the sort. Its obvious most people on here hate the Xbox One on principle.
Oops! ((Edit: See below))I personally didn't want to buy a PS3 (again) or a Vita, and was hoping for more games to play on my brand new PS4. Driveclub was delayed, Infamous looked great, and the Order was the only other game at the time that I knew of was supposed to come out this year. It just wasn't enough for me. I may have held on to it if I knew The Last of Us was coming as soon as it is, because that was one of the games I actually wanted to play that I missed out on.
For now I can't really justify owning both systems, and the Xbox One offers me more games to play right now, and in the foreseeable future that I am interested in. I will definitely pick up a PS4 down the line when the price comes down and there is more to play, because I love video games.
Oops!
