Anyone else going all digital with Switch 2?

I'm going the opposite direction. Switch 2 will be the only platform where I buy all my games physically.

I want to be able to sell these games when I'm done with them. With their game prices so high and Nintendo games holding their value so well, it's kind of a no brainer for me.

Also, physical Switch 2 games are not being priced higher. That was misinformation and was never true.

I think that's an American thing. And it's funny because outside big cities I understand the have a pretty shit internet over there.
 
I usually play through Nintendo games 2-3 times and then I'm so fatigued by them that I know I won't touch them for years anyway. So I resell them and never look back. Will probably do the same with the Switch 2, but this time, I will wait for the next big Zelda and 3D Mario game before I even purchase the console.
 
Indie games?......yes
AAA games?......no......will play on XSX or PS5
1st party Nintendo games?.......only if game is on the cart

That storage is waaaaaayyy too small to have it be digital only, 256GB and even if you get another $50 256gb card it's sill less than the XSX or PS5 have.

Crap! I have a 1TB external, and 2tb expansion card for the XSX (in addition to the 800gb usable internal storage) and it's still barely enough because most AAA games are easily 100gb+ each
 
I like plugging carts into my handheld. It's just the natural order of things. So major titles will be physical, but I don't mind smaller games being digital.
 
Why do people feel the need to go all in with either? I prefer physical, but I purchase some games digital and some physical. It really depends on if I want the box art, availability and price. I would really hate the option to purchase physical be taken away.

I went all digital back around like 2017 I think after I got into minimalism. There's occasionally some road bumps where I buy something I hate but overall it's much better. No clutter and no risk of getting my Switch or Steam Deck stolen/lost on a trip and losing hundreds of dollars of games on top of hundreds in hardware.
 
I'll get a Switch 2 in maybe a year or two when there are more games I want, but I'll still go physical for the games that have actual data on them.

The game key cards are a different story, because they have only value in being able to resell. You still are reliant on servers to get the game, and Nintendo has shut off access to old stuff before. So I might just go digital if the price is better.

I am grudgingly sticking to physical for Nintendo Switch 2. 256gb is way too small to go digitally, you would be constantly re-downloading and installing the same games over and over again. On Series X and PS5 I can store games not being played on large external hard drives. Nintendo just don't have the infrastructure in place. So for sw2 I'm going physical, digital on everything else. I'm expecting third party games to be much bigger size wise than Nintendo's. I plan on getting a 1tb sd card so I might change my mind if It's manageable ,

Fortunately in my case, my switch was still under warranty with gamestop but my game was not.

I mostly feel the same, but I still don't trust Sony with digital content. If I call a Lumbax a lesbian, will I lose all my digital games?

Plus, I just fucking hate discs, so digital is fine on PS, as long as it's dirt cheap.
 
Digital. I like the convenience of not having to get up to physically change games. just click on what you want in your library and boot up! Once I'm settled on my couch to play games I don't want to get up.

Well...that's not going to be the case for Switch 2 games, but I do have a 1TB micro SD on Switch I still need to clean the fridge on.
 
Yes. By the time the issues related to digital games arise, I'm betting that the console will be pirated to death and finding whatever game will be trivial.
 
One of the few positives of Nintendo (support of physical media) is now going away. This means I will invest even less into Nintendo. I do not think the Switch 2 is a good product for many reasons. And I do not trust their infrastructure in regards to security or backwards compatability. For me, this is WiiU all over again. The anti consumer practices don't help.

So no, physical all the way or I'll probably skip any purchases. I also despise the fact they lock childhood favorites of mine to a shitty online subscription only.

What does America have to do with going digital only again?

Looks like most people on gaf are going physical for Nintendo games. Nintendo games hold their value insanely well, that's the main reason I go physical with Nintendo. Other reason is I definitely don't trust them to keep the store online for me to download my games whenever I want.

No. Even when i did play games physically I'd keep my games in the carrying case.

I never kept the cases out on a rack or anything, I'd save them in the closet or one of my game drawers
 
Nope, never. I like collecting physical games (who themselves end up collecting dust, but that's another matter), and like with the first Switch, my retailer sells physical games cheaper than Nintendo sells them digital.
 
Nope. For Nintendo internet just got invented. I don't like digital on PC either. So I get games from GoG as much as possible, so I get the installer file.

Steam is fine, but DRM is DRM, which means they still have to improve. Whereas GoG needs to improve getting new games right away or sooner.
 
No way in hell would I trust Nintendo with a fully digital library. I only do Steam and Xbox on digital. Nintendo could randomly lock their shit away or something equally as anti consumer.

There is no reason other than money that the Virtual Console games you bought couldn't be used. They released the same games again as a rental only system for the Switch with NES, SNES, and N64 titles.

Sony had actual hurdles, since most physical games and architectural changes between platforms made it more understandable that backward compatibility was missing on the PS4 and PS5.
 
The obvious answer is to spend $1000 on two Switch 2. One for a library of physical games you never want to bother carrying or swapping that fills a shelf, and another modded one full of the exact same games.
 
The only reason I ever bought a single physical game on the original switch was when it was something. I know my son is going to want to play too on his switch... The fact I can now lend it to him digitally takes care of that. So yes I will be all digital
 
To be honest, most of what I purchased on the Switch is not available physically. Also, Nintendo support for Nintendo games, and even the availability of physical Switch games, is very limited in this region. Therefore, importing is the only solution, which will be expensive over time. So I had to.

I have games that I bought digitally on PlayStation consoles and no longer can play or have access to.
Some like Transformers on PS4(for example)got taken away in less than two years.

Games being on a rental service sucks but you should know what you are getting with rental services.

I go physical with Switch because the game is actually on the card (usually). Where I go digital is games I quickly want to jump in and out of like fighting games or smaller 2D games. Games that I'm going to be playing for a long time like a Zelda, I'd rather just own it physically. It's a better value proposition to me.
