AP: Coal CEO expected Trump help, but administration said no

Basically this.

I do have a small bit of sympathy for these people, especially after the Daily Show episode recently talking about coal country, but I really hope this slight against them is enough to push them away from Trump.

I realize there's probably a huge overlap between coal workers and the "will never not support Trump" demographic, but I think once their livelihoods are in jeopardy and betrayed deeply enough they'll reconsider.

Looks like the administration has found a way to manoeuvre around this Lame Duck of a president. Sucks for every single knobber who expected Trump to 'Restore the country to former glory'.

Logic isn't their strong point

In Mexico we have a saying that roughly translates to: breed crows and they'll pluck your eyes out.

Fuck them for believing on Trump.

Overriding environmental regulations to help some coal barons. I am kind of surprised this was not green-lighted. I would not be surprised if it still is.

Honestly it's not surprising that even the trump administration is blocking. Forcing all electricity suppliers to keep coal plants open is just stupid. That's about as anti free market as you can get

It seems it was to go through Perry but either by his incompetence or strange competence, his department has largely shrugged off the Trump administration and continued forward on previous goals.

I have no idea what Perry is actually doing.

This is why
Murray's company is seeking a two-year moratorium on closures of coal-fired power plants, which would be an unprecedented federal intervention in the nation's energy markets. The company said invoking the provision under the Power Act was "the only viable mechanism" to protect the reliability of the nation's power supply.

Forcing people to keep coal plants open would be an unprecedented intervention. Especially since this is just to keep a few coal mines open.

I'm not going to criticize the administration for this particular decision. Actually, what they were asking for is such an unprecendented abuse of power, I'm sort of shocked that Trump didn't do it.

What the coal dude was asking for is essentially for the President to use emergency powers to let all coal power plants ignore all environmental regulations indefinitely.

Edit: and to effectively ban anyone from closing coal power plants... not exactly sure how that one would be enforced.

I grew up in West Virginia, and the coal miner has always been a rightly venerated profession. It's hard, dangerous work (and actually paid well). For some reason, lately that admiration has been switched to coal mine owners. I would much rather my taxes go towards government pensions for coal miners, than to keep the harmful coal industry viable.

Mexico has some FUCKED UP cows, man.

cRows, but I read it the same way at first, too.

The people supposedly supporting them don't even want to cover the workers black lung though. This has been a farce from the get go, its never about the workers with the GOP. It's always about the CEO's, Owners and Executives pockets.
