It's hipster as fuck but Facebook is less cluttered and my twitter feed just became more awesome because the links are all prefetched with a preview in each pane. And I love flipping through pictures. This is one of the reasons I love the iPad.
Oh I thought their use of a scrapbook as a physical metaphor for the invisible electronic social network as being hipster as fuck. Making something old seem new. I think they way they format sources and the way they automatically arrange the panels in to the book is their special sauce.krypt0nian said:There is nothing hipster about it. Jeez. Honestly that app is amazing. It's so damn easy to use and setup.Stat Flow said:Well, Air Video just got replaced as my favorite app. StreamToMe is fucking incredible! It may as well be called "Air Everything"...what a boss app.

Can you add an external HDD folder too? I haven't tried, since mine is off most of the time unless I am doing a backup or grabbing a video from it.
Would you mind explaining how to set this up? Or point me in a direction of a tutorial? I have no idea how to get my external hdd to show up with this app.Stat Flow said:Yeah! I have my 1tb external HDD hooked up to my PC and added that as a stream, and EVERYTHING appeared and was stream-able...it was quite fantastic.

X-Frame said:Oh wait a second, I mis-read you're post since I didn't know StreamToMe was an actual app, I thought you were just talking about Air Video.
I am using Air Video now and it works perfectly, what makes StreamToMe better?
Air Video can but I think StreamToMe might be better with managing bandwidth, like it'll auto adjust a stream vs you picking out a fixed bitrate.Stat Flow said:Lastly, I'm not sure if Air Video can do this, I haven't tried it on that since I probably won't need to use it anymore...but STM can also stream from your PC on 3g/non-local networks. I'm about to tether to my Evo and see if I can still stream by finding my computer's IP and having it accept external STM connections. See more about that here: http://projectswithlove.com/streamtome/support_remote_connections.html

I really have GAF to thank, as I had never heard of this company before. I had need for a new messenger bag and got a sweet one, then saw this great case. I had the old incase slip sleeve, but it wouldn't work with the new pad. This thing is a dream, built solid, no zippers to deal with, looks great.

Just ordered one... The one u posted from the site on amazon. ThanksHenryGale said:Case recc: Timbuk2 Envelope

I bought 2 of these for my fiancee and myself and the package came in today. This thing fits the iPad 2 PERFECTLY (with the smart cover on). I definitely recommend it.hyp said:just copped this on amazon for $5

seems like a great solution for overall protection WITH the smart cover. i plan to slip my ipad 2 in this before i go to bed or if i'm laying it down for an extended period of time (for back protection)
and it's reversible.
Yep. Don't know how I feel about this. There's something off about it, and missing videos need to be fixed, but the functionality is interesting.Charred Greyface said:What the fuck just happened to the internets?!
I'm discovering that websites are actually hosted on Wordpress and are using a new theme, OnSwipe, for iPads!? For example, I followed a link from GAF to this article: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=26671800#post26671800 and instead of getting the real site, it turns into this theme nonsense. The reason I followed the link was for the video which doesn't show up under the theme at all (might be a good thing as the video is a waste of time). Once I changed the user-agent in iCab the website appeared like normal and the video was watchable. It fucks up my iPhone browsing too because I use the iPad user-agent on that.
This is why we can't have nice things.![]()
It turns the entire blog into a Wired magazine/Flipboard web app. It's a bit slow and janky too, for extra fun!LCfiner said:you talking about the youtube video in this link?

it showed up on my iphone. is the ipad theme different from the iphone theme? it cuts away more of the site??

Yeah the iPhone uses a different theme that was introduced two(?) years ago. I dislike using that theme on my iPhone which is why I usually request the 'full site' or switch to the iPad user agent. I can't see a way to request the 'full site' on is new iPad theme.LCfiner said:you talking about the youtube video in this link?

I use thumb typing in portrait mode. I'm used to this from my mobile phone and I'm faster of the bat. Holding the iPad this way is now tolerable with the new design of the iPad 2. Some folks will suggest that you should try touch typing on the landscape keyboard and you'll get used to it after "a few weeks". I believe this is a waste of time; the landscape keyboard takes up more screen estate and it wont be as good as typing on a proper full featured keyboard. There is a reason that Jobs et al liked to denigrate the keyboards on netbooks as small and cramped before the iPad came along. Which ever one you pick, make sure to keep the keyboard clicking sounds on as that feedback is very helpful.AVclub said:So I'm part of the club now. Last night my wife surprised me with a white 32GB iPad 2 for my 40th birthday even though my birthday isn't until the beginning of May. She knew how bad I wanted one and couldn't hold out on me any longer.
Anyway, I'm loving this thing! I've got it tethered to my 3GS iPhone and it's working brilliantly. So far my only beef is that I can't find a comfortable way to use the keyboard in either horizontal or vertical mode. How do you guys type? With both thumbs or one handed? Is there a technique I should learn to make it easier on myself?
Transcode it to H.264 with Handbrake or something. Xvid stuff won't use any hardware acceleration regardless of the app and will eat your battery life.BigNastyCurve said:I need a decent xvid player that's not streaming-based so I can put stuff on my iPad directly. How can these tablets be thinner than the iPad 2 and have better cameras? I thought they shouldn't be able to fit?Charred Greyface said:

I ordered from MacConnection.com; they quoted a 2-week wait, but shipped in just one week. You can ask them what their current turnaround time is.zychi said:I am having such a hard time finding one around here. Between the 2 best buys, the apple stores, the att stores and the few verizon stores. No one has gotten a new shipment in over a week. I'm about to just order online and wait it out. Is it really a month's wait? Or has someone gotten it sooner since it changed to that?
Do you have any Targets or Wal-Marts around? The Best Buys and Apple stores around here were completely sold out, but I had some good luck with Target. I was able to get one last Saturday, and another on Monday.zychi said:I am having such a hard time finding one around here.
