When can we pre-order in Canada, dammit!
March 25th. If we're lucky.

Seriuously, there are rumors of a month delay for the internafional release, I'll be happy if they even come out in Canada on the 25th.

:(

Hp, Buick, AT&T, coca cola, capital one are all listed. Applebees even made a custom ad, like "don't watch the game on your phone, come into Applebees". That kind of thing.

The app is awesome. Every game, regardless of network, is available. I'm impressed.

The whole way of covering these games this year is impressive. I'm loving it.

Composed most of my iPad 2 thoughts into a poorly written review here. I probably posted about a bunch of the stuff here but eh, I put it all in one place now. With this:

Easier to take dog Photo Booth pics from an iPad than MacBook (...particularly when the MB has no battery and tied to power).

I'm watching VCU destroy Purdue on the NCAA iPad app, and they keep showing Samsung Galaxy tab ads with the tagline "Feel free".

Feel free to do what, not watch the game I'm watching? It's an iOS exclusive. Lol.
"Feel free to tab." Look for it on the iOS keyboard. Owned.
^ That's the end tagline for the commercial but I assume it's implying something like "feel free to do anything, cause with the tab you're free to do it all!"

What games actually work better on iPad 2? I've seen updates/videos of:

- Dead Space
- Real Racing 2
- Infinity Blade
- Asphalt 6
- Back to the Future

Are there any others?

I got a Booq Boa sleeve the other day but it's a bit too tight with the smart cover on. Any recommendations for nice looking sleeves that fit the cover?

So what's the verdict on the most likely way to get one in a brick-and-mortar store? I'm assuming Apple Store >>> anywhere else. But are there better day(s) of the week to try? Are stores still opening early? If not, how early would one have to line up?

I lined up one day at 5:30 and didn't get anything. The next day I got to the Apple Store at 3:30 and ended up getting what I wanted. It all depends on how early you want to wake up, and how bad you want the device.

- aralon HD
- pocket legends

i can't believe how much better infinity blade is. it's quite amazing compared to the iphone 4 and ipad 1 version. in some ways it feels like an entirely new game due to how responsive it is.

What area of the US are you in?

I hate to be such a drama queen about it but it's really depressing to try and get one in NYC. I can't fathom getting there at 3:30 AM and then NOT getting one.

Kansas City. I picked mine up on Saturday. They were allowing two units per person.

i'm in the same boat. i hate to complain about stuff like this but it is straight up frustrating not being able to source one.

I waited in line Saturday morning at the Seattle Apple store. I was in line by 6:15AM and the line was already to the end of the block. Right around 7AM, employees came out and cut the line at least 10 people ahead of me, saying they didn't have enough. Waste of time. Went home, admitted defeat, and ordered one online, with a shipping date at the end of next month... :( Time to hurry up and wait.

San Francisco is just as bad. In SF and NYC its worse as we have to compete with people buying them just to ship them overseas so the people in line aren't people that really want an iPad.

I went to Best Buy and put $100 down for a black 16 verizon model and they called me in like 4 days to come pick it up. I would go there and put in your reserve then look at other places. You have 30 days to cancel and get your $100 bucks back if you find it somewhere else.

Interesting because at my store on the day after launch they only allowed 1 per person since they only had 50 units.

Yeah, should be a one person per unit thing. Btw, anyone know how to make it so Safari doesn't remember my browsing history? I can't seem to turn it off.

Damn my iPad is still in Lantau Island! Scheduled for Wed delivery here in NY.

I'm hoping it's already here in the states but FedEx is slow to update the tracking.

The day prior they only allowed 1 per person. The only thing that makes me think why they wold allow 2 per person, was the fact that they knew they had more coming. After they sold out on Saturday morning; an Apple employee invited people to hang around because he was "pretty sure they would get another shipment in for sale that day" wink-wink.

Like a porno kiosk browse mode? I think most of the third party browsers have it, Terra is a free one.

I wish Safari had an "open in background" option. I hate having to keep switching back to the main page when I'm opening a series of links in new pages. and no, I won't use another browser until Apple let's us set a default browser to completely replace Safari. Besides, unless there was a Chrome on the iPad that looked and felt like the full thing, I'd rather use Safari because it's integrated into the iPad experience. (Android let's you set other browsers and other launchers and other things by using the same "default application" idea normal computers use. Wish iOS 5 would add this in too.)

OK, gotta ask... why do you need a third party browser to replace the system browser as the default? (I'm not saying this is a BAD idea, only that it seems pretty unlikely for Apple to consider)

because, keep in mind, the majority of links clicked on in twitter or RSS apps open up within the webview of the app. yes, you could open them up in safari but that's slower than just using the webview option.

i mean, you probably have a better chance of seeing browser tabs in Safari iOS 5 than any ability to change the default browser - and that might be all you need. But I don't think you should disregard power browsers like iCab (which has the exact feature you're asking for) simply because they're not set to open up links from other 3rd party apps - links that are better opened within the app anyway.

Well off the top of my head, links in E-Mail, Maps, SMS and a few other apps open directly in Safari. Personally, I just hate the notion that I'm working between two browsers rather than it all being consolidated.

http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/18/ipad-2-wife-says-no-but-apple-says-yes/

Apple is paying close attention to all iPad 2 returns during the first few weeks to make sure there are no major production defects. This policy has led to an amusing story that we thought was entertaining enough to share.

The story comes by way of an individual close to Apple:

[Apple's] focus this week has been to troubleshoot all the iPad 2s that customers are returning to the stores. One iPad came back with a post it note on it that said "Wife said no." It was escalated as something funny, and two of the VPs got wind of it. They sent the guy an iPad 2 with a note on it that said "Apple said yes."

We're guessing a free iPad satisfied any objection the customer's wife might have had.

I refuse to pay for a browser just to get tabs. This isn't the 90's. Paying for browsers sucks. So no. No third party browsers for me. And all the free ones are shit.

Anyway, Safari is awesome IMHO, it just needs tabs. That's, really all. And that's not even a deal breaker. I don't even want anything else. Just tabs so the Android people can shut the he'll up about it. But I'd settle for "open in background".

I actually find tabs on touch browsers annoying. To OIB would be enough for me.

ah, you're right. I forgot about email and Maps - I get so few links via those apps so it slipped my mind.

still for browsing sessions where the user is launching the browser manually, it doesn't make sense to stick with safari if someone really, really wants some of the features in the other browser apps.

what about dropbox integration for saving and sharing images and downloads, adblocking and gestures? :P (I won't push it any further, just saying it does more than add tabs)

edit: sorry about the DP, thought this was an edit to the above post of mine. oops

Have you checked out the Terra browser? It's free and pretty nice.

Edit: I see someone else mentioned it too. Give it a shot.

Just got mine today. Posting on it right now.

A few things

1. Seems to be a little back light bleeding. This seems to be a very common issue though (at least om the Mac rumorsmforum)

2. The smart cover is pretty cool. But I look forward to getting an invisible shield on the back and a carrying case to protect it when traveling.

3. iOS 4.3 seems pretty buggy. Apps crashing a lot

4. Even with the cons. I fucking love this device. The slimmer design makes it a lot easier to hold and thump type.

The other problem with third party browsers is I can no longer use my Home Screen Bookmarks. Those are deal breakers. I need my NeoGAF and my FaceBook (Friendly just does not cut it. I'd rather use the full site. And not the Touch site either.) bookmarks.

Also, my bookmarks sync from my Chrome on my MacBook to Safari then from Safari to my iDevices via iTunes.

So using a third party browser just isn't good enough on iOS. Sorry, but those are the two features I need!

I mean Terra is really nice. It doesn't look like crap (Unlike Dolphin Browser on Android with its horrible default green and orange) and is really fast. But it can't be integrated into the OS like I need it to be. I'll keep it for a while and try it out when I am browsing casually, but I dunno. I am really used to having bookmarks on my home screen (Dock) and all my Chrome bookmarks in my bookmarks menu.

Just checked Target stock for white 32 GB iPads and 3 stores in the area just went from out of stock to available. I have 2 1/2 hours until I get off work. :(

Oh ya, weblinks stored on the homescreen. I store GAF that way and I tend to start my browsing sessions first at GAF and then branch outward. It just sorta breaks the flow to me. One of the reasons I love the iPhone in the beginning was how they streamlined and linked things together. Seems to go against the grain now to start using multiple browsers. You're right though, if someone really needs those features and can't stand it otherwise, at least there are some options if you want to jump through hoops, but it's less than optimal IMO.

I like Terra too.
Free, tabs work well, and you can even "lock" it with a passcode.

If it works for me, I'll use that as my main web browser and then let everyone else who plays with my iPad to use Safari since the security on Safari is piss poor right now.

fwiw, there is a tweak for jailbroken iPads (1) to switch the default browser to a select number of third party alternatives from the App Store. When the iPad 2 is jailbroken you might want to check that out (yes, it's not the best solution but well worth considering if you prefer another browser to Safari)

Is there a list somewhere? That would be a possible viable solution.

Hello Apple people!

I am seriously considering an Ipad but I cannot decide if I want a 16gig Ipad for $399 or an Ipad 2 for $499

$100 dollars = a lot of apps

I just cant decide!

Best Buy is taking $100 deposits to get it in a few days or there's the Apple Store for online loving. Other than that it seems it depends on your area.

Success! My fiancee was able to pick up an iPad 2 for me just now at Target!

Edit: For you guys still looking, this really helped me: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1118982. The Target portion was posted in this thread already, but I don't think the Best Buy and Wal-Mart ones were. With this, it only took 3 days for both my fiancee and I to find ours. :)
Just wanted to repost since I ended up being the last post of the page.
