Is there a decent way to upload images to a TinyPic like service from iPad?

I heard that friendly was pretty much the 'unofficial facebook app for ipad' and just got that one. It was good, then it broke. I haven't tried another one yet.rezuth said:How does Friendly, Friended, MyPad+, Facepad+, Facely and Buddies compare?
Is Friendly the best one? (Even though its currently borked)
I heard good things about MyPad+ but it only supports landscape mode which kinda sucks.
iPad Words with Friends is so sluggish. I get a lot of crashes back to the springboard too.Rez said:Words With Friends needs a landscape mode.

There should be an official app. And since Zuckerburg said no way to that, then at least there should be a specialized site for tablets. Despite all of the Facebook lite, Facebook touch and whatever else, there still isn't a version optimized for tablets, one that does everything the desktop version does. One of the richest and most tech savvy companies the world, and a year after the release of the iPad with more and more tablets on horizon and the path of computing starting to become pretty clear there's still not even a hint of when there will be a real solution.
I mean, you still can't fucking use chat on the website when using an iPad. Would it really be THAT difficult to get a compatible chat program running for when an iPad is detected?
I honestly think that Facebook's stubborn focus on the desktop (it's not as if any of the phone apps are all that impressive either, or ever updated) will cause them serious problems in the next 5-10 years.

It's really an issue with Facebook's laziness to develop a good HTML5 version of their site (although they have no incentive to) in addition to Apple keeping iPad Safari in line with iPhone Safari (re: limited).Charred Greyface said:Apple's fault for not offering a more capable browser
They might take some issue with that (as it's not a direct exchange). Depends who you are dealing with.Devin Olsen said:So here is my Dilemma...
I bought a 16GB WiFi iPad 2, and I noticed some pretty major light leaking (posted about it earlier). I don't really care enough about it to return the iPad, but I am thinking perhaps because of the light leak I could go into Apple and ask to have my 16GB traded up to a 32GB (I'd pay the difference).
Do you think they would allow that? I really thought 16GB would be enough for me, but I am learning quickly that apps, games, magazines, movies, etc take up a LOT of space.
It works better in the Android Honeycomb browser. It works better in the BB Playbook browser. (Chat even works in the iSwifter browser on iOS). It's not laziness if Facebook chooses not to pander to Apple,s poor implementation of a tablet browser.typo said:It's really an issue with Facebook's laziness to develop a good HTML5 version of their site (although they have no incentive to) in addition to Apple keeping iPad Safari in line with iPhone Safari (re: limited).
I highly doubt that they would allow that. You'd have to return it first, then they may deign to put you on a special waiting list to buy a 32GB. But a straight up trade-up has never happenedDevin Olsen said:So here is my Dilemma...

What works better? Are we talking about chat? Chat is disabled in the Honeycomb browser just like in Safari. Here it is now in the SDK. I didn't see any tab on the bottom right to access it.Charred Greyface said:It works better in the Android Honeycomb browser. It works better in the BB Playbook browser. *shrug* i'm guessing Facebook have some smart strategic reasons for doing so. There are what, 30 million iPad users worldwide (i'm being generous here)? Most o those people also have a computer and a smartphone as well. Facebook has over 500 million users worldwide, i'm sure they won't need to 'face up to market realities' anytime soon.LCfiner said:laziness might not be the right word but it does show a curious lack of interest in their part to make it better.
the thing is that no one is buying those other tablets like they are the iPad. so fb is certainly not making the best effort to provide the millions of ipad users with a great fb experience. they should probably consider fixing that.
they might just need to face market realities and tailor their mobile site to the ipad's limitations or make a dedicated app that can provide the notifications and chat features people need. the situation might suck for fb but that's the way the market goes sometimes.
Chat isn't the only problem in the iOS Safari browser. Another problems is that the user can't upload to Facebook through the iOS Safari browser.giga said:What works better? Regardless, using Facebook chat [as it is now] in a tablet browser is not an ideal solution. You don't get proper notifications and it's not designed specific to touch input.

Odd, it's very responsive and has never crashed for me on iPad 2.julls said:iPad Words with Friends is so sluggish. I get a lot of crashes back to the springboard too.
Ditto. It would be nice if the screen rotated though.dallow_bg said:Odd, it's very responsive and has never crashed for me on iPad 2.
Have quite a few games going on now too.
Yeah, there's no browser level file system access. A solution to that would be for Apple to hook upload dialogs to the media library framework (assets library).Charred Greyface said:Chat isn't the only problem in the iOS Safari browser. I don't follow that reasoning. They made a custom iPhone app for around the same number of users(at the time). And it's plain at this point that by the end of the year, we're talking about 50-60 million users. I'm betting they're working on something, either native or web-app.Charred Greyface said:*shrug* i'm guessing Facebook have some smart strategic reasons for doing so. Bought wolfram alpha for iPad but when I go into iPhone store it says buy instead of install??
I suspect the main stumbling block is that for larger tablet screens, and for that rapidly increasing audience, they don't want to deliver the ad-free experience of the official iPhone Facebook app. That app serves the purpose of getting people far more hooked into Facebook at the cost (to Facebook) of not showing them ads - but they may want people to view ads on tablet devices.Tobor said:I don't follow that reasoning. At that time there was a bigger gap in usability between a native mobile app and the website (mobile-optimized or not) accessed via a mobile device. At this time the website is much more usable, in comparison, with an iPad web browser.Tobor said:I don't follow that reasoning. Smart cover and a sleeve for your bag. It's the best option.PatzCU said:What's the general consensus on the best case for the iPad 2? Obviously the Smart Cover is the best option for keeping the slim form of the device, but I wasn't sure how that held up against consistently putting the iPad into a bag. I've been poking around review sites like iLounge and haven't really been "wow'd" by the options.
Any recommendations or should I just go buy the Smart Cover?
