Why do I sense an iPad 3 situation incoming.

Yo we got a 5k display!
Wow really?
Yes!
Why does it run all choppy?
Did I mention it is 5k?

Can you use iMacs simply as monitors if you choose to upgrade down the line?

Wow...5K screen.

Sick.

I hope they say something about Apple TV. I'm on the verge of buying my third, but want to see if an ATV4 is announced.

I’m gonna need one of these. I really hope they didn’t cheap out too much on the base level graphics for this thing. I don’t want to have to wait for the next revision bump for it to be “done right”

Dell's 5K display will retail this year for $2,499.99. Just for the monitor.

Wonder what the base price of this will be...

Tech and media companies are going to use these iMacs as major incentives to work for them. Hell, I'll leave my job for someone who gives me one.

I still think the iMac case looks a little dated.

It's a TFT display? Haven't Apple's displays typically been IPS?

So they made a chip specifically to help drive the display. Hopefully it works with the GPU and not in place of it. Will there still be a dGPU? And if so, will it work with the new display processor?

The price, Apple. Give it to us!

Good. dGPU lives on.... in the highest end model only of course probably.

I predict Retina 5K will only be in the top end too. No 21" models. And it'll be $2500 at least....

Edit: BOOM! Called it. (Yes, I consider $2500 == $2499)

I'm here and...

*looks at blog*

LOOK AT THOSE PIXELS. We're not talking about 4K but 5K. If this can double as monitor then I'm in. Technically, I don't need this because my 2014 rMBP is holding strong but I want one of these just to have it.

*EDIT*

2499 isn't that bad given the pixel count, fusion drive, and new Radeon chip.

That's a surprisingly reasonable price from Apple.

hey, the fusion drive is standard, at least. that’s good.

I was hoping it would be below 3K and it is. so, yeah, I’m in.
