Are MS too scared to port Halo to Playstation?

I doubt it, and when Forza Horizon 5 sells huge numbers on PS5 I will doubt it even more.

I think all Microsoft IP on other platforms is inevitable as Forza is already one of their biggest franchises.

We almost opened the portal to hell already in 2010 with the Large Hadron Collider, an now OP is daring Bill Gates to port halo on pS5

Right back at you 😂

Do you think they’re not going to want to make that money? I would say it’s just a matter of time at this stage, I find it hard to believe this is somehow a sacred title. The amount of millions of dollars they will make in day one release (probably including myself) will be insane.

But hey maybe you’re right and they can resist the temptation. Time will tell.

Porting games to other consoles takes time.

They also don't want to drop everything on PlayStation all at once.
This is a good point as well. With how back and forth Microsoft’s messaging has been I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve had the same back and forth internally.

Also if they go and drop Halo/Forza/Gears all at once it limits how much each of those can sell. You spread it out and you can give each title room to sell.

No, not scared.

Just too slow to port their games, which is understandable as PS5's dev environment was never in their production pipeline. It's something very new for their workflow and most of their devs.

it's comiiing.

I think the bigger discussion is how much of a marketing push they are going to put into Gears, and Halo ports.

They should treat these ports as a big deal; really market the hell out of them, leveraging nostalgia and their previous status as genre-defining games. Physical editions, streams, massive billboards; making them an gaming historic event.

"Master Chef is coming to cook on Play Station"

It would be worse if they treated their biggest IPs as an afterthought, and as the biggest publisher on the planet, they should act accordingly

Fear isn't the right word.

They are easing consumers into a world where everything is day and date across all platforms. You can't just launch your 3rd party initiative with Halo, or you're going to piss off your core fanbase too much. Gotta ease people in slowly instead of just ripping the band-aid off.

Halo isn't one of their big franchises anymore. They totally squandered it. I don't think they are going to port Infinite or MCC because both have problems launching to a new platform in 2025. The next one for sure, whenever that is and no matter how shitty it is.

It still despite recent setbacks one of their biggest franchises optically. I bet if you ask general people ie not users on an enthusiast gaming what franchise they think of when they hear Xbox it’s still Halo for the majority.

I can’t see them holding on Halo back. Releasing MCC even without MP would sell a ton. Microsoft lost a lot to Sony last gen and it would sell due to nostalgia alone.

Infinite I can possibly not bothering with just due to reception and a play base that is pretty dead. MCC is basically free money.

campaign only MCC sounds horrible, I think its a total nonstarter because co-op is such a big part of these games. So once you have that internet connectivity...

I just dont see them rushing to port an 11 year old game they dont want to support anymore. I am sure a PS5 build of it exists at MS but releasing it comes with tons of baggage. We will see.

Unless they are bringing the games (physically everything on the disc)without the online requirement/MS account for physical - don't care about digital SKU - for many of us physical ownership types they aren't actually bringing the games in the same way as regular PlayStation ports, which kind of sucks because I'll probably pass on all of them even at low price, now. Indiana Jones included.

So I don't think they are scared about bringing any game, Halo collection included, as they can retroactively kill the login service and take them all back.

Let me rephrase then and say campaign only as when I say MP I’m not talking about coop campaign. Coop campaigns are not multiplayer to me.

I don’t see how people don’t think porting one of the greatest trilogies of all time alongside two other amazing games with huge amounts of reverence and love both old and new wouldn’t be worth it.

The original Halo games are legendary no matter how bad 343i/Halo Studios fucked it all up. It’s literally printing money.

The only possible argument I can see for it is that once Halo and to a lesser point Gears goes over that the Xbox brand is truly dead as a console.

No they aren't scared. They are just saving it for last, and likely assessing the best way to introduce the PlayStation base to halo. MCC collection? Just port Infinite? Maybe just wait for a new game?

I explained why I felt this way. They have tried to move on from MCC multiple times. They keep getting pulled back into it. Releasing it on PS5 will pull them back to it. I don't think they want to do that. I am also not sure how much money it would be. Halo isn't what it used to be. They are trying to rebuild 343 after the Infinite disaster while also supporting that game the best they can. I think they want to move on.

I know the old Halos are good. I bought MCC day one and suffered through four years of bullshit until it got playable. I'm not speaking to the quality of the game, just to why MS is not in a rush to put it on PlayStation. And with each passing day it gets more unlikely. I could be wrong but this is how I see it.

Yeah, I don't see them bothering with older titles. I'm still skeptical about that Gears of War 1-3 bundle for example.
Halo infinite and whatever the next Halo is, I can definitely see coming - but older titles seem like they would barely be worth it.

It was trying to be sarcastic :messenger_grinning_squinting:

Microsoft would be foolish to leave that money on the table, especially with the potential for huge sales. The idea of keeping their top games exclusive to Xbox or PC just doesn't seem sustainable in the long run

I think it's just a matter of time before we see more of their games on PlayStation

I think it’s a win for everyone involved

My bad! I didn’t pick up 😂

Yeah to be honest I loved the 360 era, I skipped having a PS3 that generation. The innovation and games were absolutely fantastic during that period.

MS are now poised to be a mega publisher if they can deliver the games I’m 100% there.

At the start of this generation I was going to buy a Series X when some of the big games I wanted to play started landing…..however the promises of quality didn’t entice me Starfield, Redfall, Hellblade 2, Stalker 2. etc. didn’t quite hit the mark.

I barely have time to play on one platform. I’m jealous of the people here who have time for multiple platforms but I need to pick and choose and use my time wisely. I’ll definitely be buying FH5, Gears of War and Halo when they land. I still haven’t got round to hifi rush or pentiment yet but they’re definitely being bought when I get more time.

We're still waiting.
That was PS4 era marketing and they delivered easily.

Horizon 1, God of War, Infamous Second Son and First Light, Bloodborne, Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy, Until Dawn, Ratchet & Clank, The Last guardian, Spider-Man, Days Gone, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, TLOU 2, and last but definitely not least GRAVITY RUSH 2.

That’s also not including remasters/collections like Uncharted, Wipeout, Uncharted, Shadow of the Colossus, and again GRAVITY RUSH or anything third party whether exclusive or multi platform.

Plus they had the better performing console at a lower price.

Now sure PS5 has been disappointing for many but to say Sony didn’t deliver last gen is laughable.

Let's see said group begs for Halo port. Current group can't be satisfied with current game quality. Conclusion, begging group will never be satisfied with said port!

Does the Master Chief Collection have a native Series X|S port? No, It was only optimized for their next-gen consoles.

Why would Microsoft do a PS5 only port without upgrading it for their own machines first? It's not due to fear, it's due to time. Honestly the first thing they may bring over is Halo Infinite since it's already prepped for porting to another next-gen console. Anything stuck on One X and down properly won't be ported until they do a proper next-gen port for their own systems.

The real question is why are they not doing PS4 ports for games that are cross-gen? Forza Horizon 5, Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, etc. all have last gen versions that could've been ported to PS4 for more money.

It will come over eventually. Overall it doesn't seem like people care too much about Halo today, so it probably makes sense to do stuff like Forza Horizon first.

MS has never feared making money and usually been pretty keen on doing so rather than reluctant.

Halo's coming, MCC included, but they're not going to be one of the easier ports given the history of the tech it's built upon. I mean.... how long was MCC in the wilderness before it became a solid product? How many years?

There will be a plan to drop each game into a specific window where it will maximise sales and avoid clashing with anything including their own new releases, big 3rd party releases and Sony's own first party efforts (and of course Nintendo's when the Switch 2 finally arrives).

They're not scared. They're not reluctant. It's going to take time and it has to be done right. FlirtBees seems like an interesting platform for meeting new people through video chat. If anyone has tried it, how was your experience? Is it user-friendly, and are there real people to connect with? Also, how does it compare to other similar platforms? Would love to hear some feedback before checking it out!
Hi-Fi Rush is heavily rumored, along with Sea of Thieves and possibly Starfield. Halo: The Master Chief Collection seems like the one Xbox is most reluctant to let go.

smh...why would they be scared? That IP is pretty much almost dead.

The last big Halo title released almost 10 years ago and only moved 5 million units , keep in mind...I don't even think we have any real HARD NUMBERS on Halo Infinites actual sales, but I think its safe to say, the IP is on its last legs compared to something like Forza that moves monster units.

If Forza is coming, the only doubt they would have with Halo is....would they even get enough sales to justify it? So....scared, maybe, but not for the reasons many think.

Its not 2007 anymore..

If MCC on PS5 doesn't include Reach and ODST, then it dead on arrival. The original MCC on XBOX didn't include them but MS added them both to it later on.

It's actually really good. But IMO, I think people are just done with Halo.
I recently started playing halo 3 again with friends and I have to be honest, never had so much fun playing halo like I used to with Infinite. I like the modern faster play of infinite, but there is something about the slower pacing in halo 3 that is different
