Your defence of everything Microsoft does is unreal.

This isn't the company that partnered up with Sega back in 2001, those days are long gone.
It's not a defence but reality. I don't let sweatshop factories or a country with some of the worst human rights stop me from buying consoles or products made in China, nor do I let so-called morals.. stop me watching high-paid sports star's play their sport while the common workers for their sporting organisations were being laid off during Covid and not look to take any hit to their earning during any credit crunch and I'll be watching the World Cup, no matter which country it's in.

SEGA laid off plenty of staff even during its heyday, so spare me on this moral crusade bullshit, when all it is. Is just an excuse to troll and pointscore

I do like xbox console best due to their philosophy of how they make games.

Always find them to focus on mechanics over eye candy / other marketable stuff.

Question Mark What GIF by MOODMAN

They are literally turing themselves in to a COD factory right before your eyes.

In this industry you're no better or worse then the last product/game you released IMO. So if they release a fantastic device or must-have game I won't be all Reee about it.

If that's likely to happen, well that's a different conversation all together. 😁

Xbox went from meh to "maybe?" back to "lol okay" for me.

Microsoft as a whole? don't know that I can.

Yes. As long as I already own a huge Xbox library a couple of new games changes nothing. And I will keep permanently one Xbox console anyway.

I'll happily continue paying for gamepass and playing xbox studios games, but I cannot see why anyone would buy an xbox console considering it's all on pc and most of it on playstation.

My investments in MS/Xbox only come down to games I want to play. So the answer is yes. I want good games and if I can play them on PC and/or PS I'm good.

I am pretty much done with Ms since GfWL. I loved the idea to bring consoles and PC closer together. But it was killed very soon, only to come back later again. MS has no idea what they are doing. Much like Sony with their secondary HW projects where they back out also always too early. Only Nintendo rides out failures.

I cancelled my GamePass Ultimate subscription in May 2024 and will be selling my unused Xbox Series X next week. I no longer have any interest in the Xbox hardware; it is a redundant platform for me as an owner of a PC, PS5 Pro and Switch 2.

However, I will continue to buy the odd Xbox game that interests me on Steam, plus the occasional replacement Xbox controller for use on my PC. Consoles though? Nope, absolutely not.

This is two generations which have been an entire waste of time. I have owned every mainline console since the Master System generation. I have traded in two console EVER

The Xbox One and Series X, its not even a "handful of games" its like 2 per system. Thats just not enough. They have both been complete and utter disappointments. The PS5 for me has also been a disapointment, but at least there was one of two games a year I could sit back and say "that was amazing" I cant with Xbox.

NeoGAF was so desperate for a good game for Xbox they pretended on mass that Halo Infinite was a GOTY, it was utter horseshit, but people with only Xbox I assume had forgotten what good was like at that point, they hadent had something like that for so long.

Fucking pointless systems, especially with their games being multiplatform now.

...I refuse to believe that there are that many linux users that said no. MS products! Windows!?!

It asks "are going going to", not "do you currently".

The moment the nvidia driver issue is solved for Linux (or if I decide my next gpu is from AMD, whichever comes first) then I'm 100% gone from windows.

I'm already halfway out the door anyway with my business laptop being Linux already.

Saving this post for future. 😎

On GAF in general. We have like 5 threads of the same thing, just worded differently.
As a person, would you exchange currency for goods or services made by a gaming company that begins with the letter X?

Has Microsoft's gaming division been unalived?

Let it be known Philip Spencer Jr Jr is a brigand and a cad

See topic
Do you mean hardware or software?

Hardware: Maybe? Who knows. Im not gonna pretend that I know what is coming and that I know whether or not I will want it. I told myself I wasn't getting the Switch 2 at first but here we are.

Software: Absolutely. While I'll be getting Gears for free on my Series X/PC I will definitely be buying any MCC ports and as much as I don't have faith in Halo Studios I'll buy the next Halo game. Forza Horizon? Buy

Layoffs happen and honestly with how bloated some teams are we will see and probably should see more of them coming. Xbox laying off people doesn't invalidate the brand.

Gaf is full of hyperbole no matter the topic.

PlayStation is dying everytime if they sell even 1 less console then in the past.

PlayStation is releasing every single game they ever make day and date on PC despite never happening outside of live service.

Nobody is going to buy the Switch 2 because it's too expensive and people will come together.

There is no reason at all to own a Xbox or consoles in general.

PC gaming requires extensive knowledge of coding to function correctly.

A $5000 PC is cheaper then a PS5 and there has never been a single sale on digital games and you are 100% forced to pay for PS+ or XBGP.

Gamepass on PC. If the quality of the service decreases as price increases then I see no reason to keep it.

Agreed. I'm also going to continue using Windows and Office. Will I buy the next Xbox console? Probably not.

Ain't that the truth. It's not just NeoGaf though, but still. It goes to show how much people care about their favorite box made of plastic compared to the other boxes made of plastic available on the market.

Try all the cancelled games too that were shown when trying to sell people an Xbox Series.
Thats a concern. But I doubt they do it on purpose.

They do have some clear cut disasters like Perfect Dark situation. Its kinda unreal.

But at the same time, am not unhappy they have to cancel some of their games. It means they tried new stuff that didn't work out. Making something samey again wouldn't have that risk.

I mean, no, but it was to something that happened before, when I changed countries and I'm kinda locked from making purchases in their store.

well hopefully some of the games in the future, if MS decides to make better ones like we use to get from the studios they have aquired, but i'm not a Gamepass subscriber and i don't buy and use Consoles, so at the minute, only The Outer Worlds 2 as i liked the 1st one, but that's before i've seen it and i'm not paying 80 quid either, so as for investing in future MS Product's, maybe not!

I'll be eyeing that Xbox Rog Ally X. Gotta see how much better performance that Z2 Extreme chipset can get over the Z1 Extreme in my Lenovo Legion Go S coupled with that streamlined more performant gaming variant of Windows..

I bought Flight Sim 24 when it came out, on Steam

My series X is just handy as it has residual power going to the USB, so it's handy to charge my headphones

My Series S has become the living rooms VLC player

Yeah, that's about the sum of it

I'm interested in the new Xbox hardware, but whether I buy it depends entirely on the incentives. One of the main reasons I picked up the Series X at launch was to ensure access to exclusive games. But Microsoft seems to have shifted strategies—there are no longer any titles exclusive to the console.
If that's the direction they're going, they need to offer a compelling reason to keep investing in their hardware. For me, Game Pass isn't enough—I already buy the games I want to play and don't have time for the rest. In the meantime for console hardware, the Playstation has me covered. For the rest, PC and Switch 2.
