As a consumer, are you going to continue investing in MS products after everything that’s happening at the Xbox Division?

Will you?

Thats a concern. But I doubt they do it on purpose.

They do have some clear cut disasters like Perfect Dark situation. Its kinda unreal.

But at the same time, am not unhappy they have to cancel some of their games. It means they tried new stuff that didn't work out. Making something samey again wouldn't have that risk.
I'm not sure I would call perfect dark something new. They obviously didn't intend to cancel it when they first started but what they did do on purpose is show things way too early with CGI trailers to build fake hype for xbox. In the case of Everwild they didn't even have a game concept ffs. That was completely intentional.

They invested millions in Everwild just to cancel it.

You must be retarded.

Only an incompetent company would show off a title where even the basics of gameplay were not figured out. That's what he's been talking about.
There's incentive to do that when you're selling hardware. PS did it with Versus XIII. Now that they're out of hardware for the most part, and have a pipeline of stuff coming out, I doubt we'll see anything that ridiculous again. Similar situation with the Elder Scrolls trailer without a name.

Short term : yes. My Series X is still a great console and many games are coming on it. I never cared much for first party games.

Longer term : probably not if they cannot keep a proper console experience on their hardware. But if they do, then, probably yes.

Why would I stop doing business with X company when Y company does exactly the same but is just not exposed publicy and get a pass?

As sad as it is, it is part of the business. It happens with most of them (except Nintendo). I will most probably get the Xbox Ally, and the next box. That being said, PS and Switch are also here, so my money will be where the games are. Lets see where it all goes.

Versus XIII is a third party endeavor (Square) that was retooled into a different project that still released (FF15), not the same thing at all.

This is Microsoft selling a vague game concept that wasn't even formed properly yet as an upcoming game. They also did the same to a worse degree (IMO) with Perfect Dark, sending out a known fake trailer in order to "win not-E3".

Stunning incompetence on display in both cases.

This isn't the first time they have had a product not go as well as intended. I still purchase their products after my Windows phone, Windows CE PDAs and Zune. This isn't a war on morality or anything. This is consumerism. I do not expect a product to last forever so I will continue tp make purchases based on my wants and needs at that time.

They did clarify then and there it was in concept phase.

Again, not ideal. But its hardly intentional.
Dude he fucking brought it up himself on a podcast less than 6 months ago when asked about games he's excited for. Even talked about the great progress they made on it.

Again, spectacular incompetence.

I will as long as they dont start losing big third party support. I prefer the xbox interface and controller. As much as windows is hated for me its much better than using macos/linux. For productivity/enterprise stuff its not even close ms is king.

Last week I had a browse around to see what a "cheap" Series X would set me back. I have some older Xbox titles I'd like to play via back-compat.
Turns out it's not cheap anywhere. No decent deals or offers. At least not in the UK. £450+ everywhere.
I'll stick to PC I guess.

Didn't Herman say Fairgames was making good progress?

This is how it goes. An executive is never going to say it sucks during development phase. While team is hard at work trying to make it a reality. He would be a poor leader if he did.

I voted No, but it has nothing to do with the layoff. It has everything to do with the games that they released over the past few years. Its just dud after dud

When Herman cancels it then we will be able to judge.

Concord was a spectacular failure and it clearly has pushed some within Sony to re-evaluate everything from scratch.

Microsoft, yes. It's hard to not to at this point but I won't go out of my way.

Xbox, probably yes as I don't intentionally avoid products but if someone flags it for me, yeah I'll definitely think twice about it which is usually the killing blow in my purchases.

I see games I'm interested in, I partake. If I don't, then I won't.
This is pretty much as simple as it gets. If I want game, I buy game. I don't really give a fuck about all this drama. "Is Xbox dead? Should I shit myself endlessly? Should I celebrate this news and hug my other plastic box?" I don't give a fuck. Good game, me buy. Done.

You are not making any sense.

Everwild is unsuccessful, it has costed them jobs and million down the drain. They didn't do it on purpose.
You clearly don't understand what I'm saying if it doesn't make sense to you. I'm saying they obviously didn't intend to cancel games but they definitely intended to show games way too early when they weren't even concrete in any form to build fake hype for their hardware. As in they didn't even know what Everwild was and yet they were showing CGI trailers. That was intentional, not the cancellation.

Definitely still interested what they come up with for next gen. A nice box to put under the tv that has access to all my game libraries.
Probably the best place to play GTA6.

I'm probably alone in this but I think it's kinda funny to see all these YouTube pundits like throwing a fit a Xbox from this position of disappointed father or angry boss.

I'm not saying Xbox hasn't massively failed. I just think the tone of these videos is sort of funny. It's like dog I think you're only upset bc you're depending on them for content.

I dreamt quiet a bit about Everwild and that canceled Blizzard survival game (called Odyssey I think).

At least I can see the trailers again lol.

Sure.
I mean I probably wouldn't buy a new Xbox that's basically a traditional console with a closed ecosystem. But some sort of windows based product with an Xbox brand? Sure, if the price and features are good.
And I'll still buy their games. Ninja Gaiden 4 is still one of my most anticipated games for the rest of the year.

People online and here are saying like everytime when a lot of lay-offs happens "I will NEVER support this publisher AGAIN" but they will be the first to run to play the next DOOM, the next Fallout, the next Forza, Grounded 2, etc...

Gamers are the worst online activists

Gamers get on their moral high horse whenever some game studio lays people off or reports of "crunch" come out. Apparently gamers have never held a job in corporate America where these practices exist in every industry.

I could care less about the layoffs. I feel bad for those impacted but after more than 10 years of bad management it's hard to say this wasn't expected. I have hundreds of Xbox games so I'm not getting rid of my Series X. I still buy the occasional game on the X because I have space on my hard drive so may as well use it. I also will likely buy sports games on Xbox because quick resume allows me to jump in and out of them easily.

It's a shame what happened to Xbox. The fact that Phil Spencer still has a job is stunning to me.

I'll probably still buy some games (on PC) as they still have some decent stuff like Forza, Gears, etc.
Yeah no doubt they have great games and I'll keep playing them.

Gears of War E-Day and The Elder Scrolls VI are my most anticipated titles in the whole industry out of those I know are in development.

Played through Gamepass? Absolutely! As long as I can get the service cheap.

Purchased on Microsoft Store? Not likely. If I buy games these days I buy on Steam.

Xbox hardware? Nah I doubt that I'll buy their console but the ROG Xbox Ally X is interesting as a handheld PC, unless it has some major flaw it's a day 1 purchase.

I'll keep paying for PC gamepass although that isn't really 'investing' as its a subscription. I'll still probably buy the deluxe upgrade of the next Forza Horizon. The only hardware I have ever bought from them was controllers - but after my Series controller developed stick drift I won't be buying any more from them.

I'll still buy their games on my platform(s) of choice, yes.

Will I buy anymore Xbox hardware? Prob not, unless they make something really killer that's actually differentiated (not holding my breath)
