What the hell is this?
It's a television show. It has bright moving images accompanied by sound which you display on the magic box glass that is in your home.
What is Ash and what is Evil Dead? Why are they versusing each other?
Ash is just some square chinned shlub who went through a rough patch with Evil Dead. After being apart for over 30 years they found each other again and ain't too happy with one another so they began versusing.
What? Who?
Likely... he's one of Henry's men!
So this like The Walking Dead huh?
Get out of this thread and educate yourself now.
Why a show and not a movie?
Because there weren't enough of you knuckleheads to fill the theaters when Army of Darkness came out. You want another movie? Then watch the show and maybe they'll make one!
Which Army of Darkness timeline is this under?
Short Answer: S-Mart ending... kind of.
Long Answer: If you're familiar with how the previous two sequels were set up this pretty much follows the same tradition. Due to rights issues with the previous films this loosely follows the those films but takes place in its own universe. This Ash went through the experience like Evil Dead and Army of Darkness, but it's meant to be its own thing. Now even though this is kind of going by the S-Mart ending that doesn't mean the "slept too long" ending might not have happened as well. Essentially Evil Dead is like the Zelda series if Link was manly and his Master Sword was a chainsaw.
Is the remake involved in any way?
Well first, that was more of a reboot than a remake. Much like the sequels it's still within the Evil Dead universe but stands as its own thing. Kind of a sequel. Kind of not. Sam Raimi has mentioned several times in the past that he would like to mash up Mia and Ash's stories at some point down the road, but like most Evil Dead related things coming out his mouth it'll probably be just wishful thinking.
Why only 30 minutes?
Because less is more in this case. The Evil Dead series have always been about one crazy moment after the next with very little padding. To have hourly episodes means you will have to start stretching out the budget and adding the padding which will make it a less authentic Evil Deadian experience.
How involved is Sam Raimi in this?
He co-wrote and directed the first episode, and oversees the series as an executive producer. Other Evil Dead luminaries are back as well. Robert Tapert is producing again. Joseph LoDuca is back to score the show. Ivan Raimi is co-writing once again. Bob Murawski is back to editing. Essentially this is the Evil Dead 4 fans have been waiting for. The only thing missing is a shemp named Ted playing multiple roles.
Is the iconic cabin in this? I mean it isn't Evil Dead without the cabin right?
. . .
How did you go this long without quoting Ash?
You bastards, why are you torturing me like this?! Why?!
