But then what is the existence of Facebook? It's all about the number of likes!

Yeah but I don't want the KKK's likes.

People make food? I thought most second/third generation Asians these days just buy food due to their hectic schedules unless they are unemployed.

I'm not Asian. I'm just in here for the hell of it. Granted if you saw my name without a picture of me you wouldn't be able to tell. That mistake got made a lot in high school. It was funny watching people's reactions.

But I do cook and have a habit of finding recipes on GAF to make (mostly thanks to Cooking-GAF and FakeGAF)

Cool.

I do cook, too, but I do it as lazily as possible. If one component of a dish can be precooked or prepared ahead of time, I'll certainly take that route.

Here, I'll share one.

Possibly the greatest invention ever for decent fast ramen at home.

Add everything else yourself.

Sun Noodle is a distributor for many Ramen shops in the USA.

Find it at your local Nijiya or Mitsuwa stores in the refrigerator aisle.

There's really not all that much going on on Facebook, either. Seems like it's just a slow time.

I know I've been super sick for the last week or so (with now so, so, so many things to catch up on), so I'm behind on pretty on everything.

By the way, anyone with Netflix, make sure to watch Aziz Ansari's Master of None.

When you get to episode 2, that might as well be the thing you show to people when they ask if representation of minorities really matters at all. Just a goddamn masterclass.

NPR interviewed him about that show earlier this week. I haven't seen it yet but it was a great interview and I'm sure the show is stellar.

Next week the Japanese-American society here [in Austin] is promoting a taiko drum performance. Hopefully I won't be bogged down with work so I can go see it. :\

Apparently they've been having trouble selling tickets which is a huge contrast from the last time they were here and sold out (15 years ago?). We can't go and support cause we'll be out of town :(

I'll have to check it out since I listened to that interview and found it interesting.

I also checked out Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and I didn't like it. Perhaps it'll grown on me down the line.

Despite my poking my head in here, I never reviewed the Membership Charter™ for this thread.
Do white guys with Asian grandparents and Asian-American ethnic upbringings get to participate? :3

Doesn't matter where you're from; whether you're from Asia, Africa, America, adopted by an asian family, dating an asian, or just plain curious about asians. Everyone is welcome here.

Cybit lied, though, you actually need to like food porn to be truly welcome here.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. That episode was pretty brilliant. The montage in the beginning had me in stitches.

Oo, are you quarter or half something?
Quarter. Half-Jpn mother and ginger father. But my full-blooded grandmother was the matriarch of our clan. So whereas other white kids grew up with sandwiches and Christian shit, I grew up with stir-fries and eating mochi on new year's day. :p

Lol is all I have to say!

By the way, anybody is welcomed here. Do not feel shy and feel free to start a conversation here. Like....

Where did the stereotype of Asians being bad drivers come from? Who came up with that shit?

Also, I am getting back to my design roots and have started doodling again. Just drawing random things and whatnot. Maybe I can start redesigning random logos around me and putting them in my portfolio!

A local boutique tax firm! Mostly high net worth individuals... so it's going to be interesting. I'll report any tax tips back to y'all :D

(Are many Indians vegetarian? A lot of my Indian friends at school are also vegetarian. I've never really thought about it until now. I've heard that the cow is sacred to some so beef isn't as popular, but what about fish, chicken, etc?)

Have you seen what it's like in China/India :p?

Obviously all Asians drive like that, even those here. lol.

:D excellent on the tax tips.

I don't know if many Indians are full vegetarians. My family and I grew up Jain, so we're full vegetarians (no fish, chicken, etc). I know many Hindus are no beef, though. Living in Seattle is pretty nice for a vegetarian, admittedly.

I think fish and chicken are acceptable.

And congratulations on the full-time offer.

AFAIK there's no restriction on lamb, chicken, or fish, it's just beef they won't consume.

I ended up spending the morning fiddling with bits and pieces of this program that my group is making for a final. I emailed what I had off to my other teammates. Working on the movement while they tinker with the map.

Speaking of learning languages.... I decided to take a couple years of Mandarin classes during my middle and high school years. I don't remember much lol. The teacher was way too lenient. I still remember some basics though and my name.

Our teacher did sort of taught us swear words but I was never there haha.

Wo bu zhi dao!

I'm quite happy with the weather up in MN! Nice 60s to 50s temperatures. Not chilly and not too hot for the fall season.

Heh, that's the only phrase (besides hello) i know in mandarin that I know.

Chilly 50-60s weather here in CA, :(

I haven't been there for over a decade at least.

Tickets are so expensive now.
Same but not cause of money lol.I haven't been there just cause.... well fuck no reason to. No kids yet.. and when I had a SO we just never went. I think it's been a good 10 to 15 years since I've been to any of the Disney parks.

As always, don't get banned. That Missouri thread might get kinda hot.

I do love that the Asian-American photographer is part of the "white" media. Nothing like people protesting systematic racism at Mizzou (which, if you've ever lived in Missouri, should surprise you not at all that Mizzou is like Missouri and hella racist) practicing a little casual racism themselves.

oh well, who the fuck cares.

i totally disagree with the shit you have said so whatever.

i'm guessing many of you don't hang out with black people? right?

I grew up on MLK so.... ugh all i had were asian and black friends growing up. Legit 2 white friends all the way until family moved to the suburbs. Then it was just a mix of everything and been that way since.
