Asian-GAF: We're all the same, like Stormtroopers |OT| |AT|

Hilariously: Minority Report flopped hard and is guaranteed to die after 10 episodes, but a Limitless TV series has a full season order and is probably some of the best TV I've seen this year.

So this could go either way, honestly. I've gotten past the "why does this need to exist" stage of these things because I want to be doing that one day so I don't need all that negative energy.

Although this I won't argue is kinda stacked hard with the lack of the principal actors from the movie mostly. They need to capture the same energy and humour somehow to maybe get a chance for people to keep with it in spite of the lack of Chan and Tucker. Big hurdles.

I saw the first couple episodes of Limitless and it wasn't that bad. Minority Report looked kind of silly from just the commercials.

Seriously though, Phuc Dat Bich is an awesome name. Actually, Asians in general have awesome names.

Shin Hye-Sung
Liu Yi Fei
Jet Li
The usual last names: Chang, Yang, Xiong, Lee, Nguyen, etc.
Lu Bu
Taishi Ci
Yukimura Sanada

I think for turkey day, my fam are going to make eggrolls and some other dishes that I am blanking out on. Last year I ate so much and had so many shots and beers lol.

Question for East/South-East Asians: how accepting do you think your parents would be if you were dating someone of South Asian descent?

South East (Cambodian) and also East Asian (Chinese) here, my parents wouldn't care. Though I'm a guy, so I always think it'll be a be a little more different if you were a girl dating a guy of a different skin colour whether that be black, white or the various browns.

My mom is still very traditional and racist so I would say she would cause a ruckus. My older brother is dating a vietnamese chick and she gives him shit all the time.

In the long run obviously she wouldn't care and would be happy for me I guess.

My dad would probably not really care, but my
super racist
mom would go ballistic. In high school she thought I was getting too friendly with an Indian girl and had this talk with me about how South Asians were not good people. It was... weird.

My parents wouldn't care but when I told my grandma I sorta liked this Indian chick she went and told me how it wasn't good to be near them etc. -_-

I am sure they would accept it but I also know they aren't fond of South Asians.

Turkey's in the fryer!

Also, to bring back an old topic here, I think I like Dr. Ken more than Fresh Off the Boat now.

WHAT? Dr. Ken is pretty weak, Fresh Off the Boat is quite fun.
In other news, Daniel Wu in Into the Badlands was off to a good start :)

You need to pass the Asian test first. Post some food pictures and let us judge. If your food pics are good enough, we let you in to the club.

Homemade. Am I celestial enough?

I'll take pictures when I make my New Year's feast of soba and mochi. That's an old tradition my late grandma would always uphold, and is something we haven't done. She's passed on, so I feel I need to keep that tradition up and running.

Thanks for the perspective, guys. I am dreading this, haha.

Don't think you can sneak a bunch of Dynasty Warriors / Samurai Warriors names past us without us noticing. :p

I declare it so. :D

EDIT: Proud of you all for not getting banned in that cultural appropriation thread. :D

I've got a craving for Mongolian hot pot..but I'm not familiar with the places in Socal. I suppose I could just hit up Little Sheep.

I love that Mongolian hot pot requires no sauces. The meat just picks up the soup base's flavor.

Where are you located? Try Duo Pot if there's one near you.

Man.... I don't know how much weight I gain every thanksgiving lol. The same thing - eat, drink, repeat. When I'm not eating, "here sister have a shot" when I'm not drinking, "damn sis this dish you made is delicious!"

Also, the temptation won so I didn't stop drinkng alcohol. I know, I know.... Shame on me tsk tsk.

I'll see if I can post some food porn and alcohol porn for y'all. I still need to upload my pictures of that liquor shop in the Mall of America.

I love hot pot. All-you-can-eat lamb at Little Sheep is sooo goooood

Let's get Tsujita!

hmm...Tsukemen....I realized I haven't been to Tsujita proper. I always go to the annex across the street

annex_tsukemen.jpg

Also, I noticed that they get their noodles from Sun Noodles co. but I can't seem to find the specific thick type that they use at Asian markets. Seems like the Tsujita Tsukemen noodles would be amazing to use for Chinese dishes like Zhajiang Mian or Beef Noodle Soup.

I used to hate hot pot as a kid but now I love it. Just so simple and so delicious especially on a cold winter night (well cold for LA anyways).

Fuck Black Friday. I'm getting drunk and watching the Apple Cup.

Meh on shopping this year.

Always disappointing since the Internet now has deal collection sites. Why wait for one day when there's a bargain every day?

Plus, you rarely can get the deal you want unless you're tied to your computer all day.

Something I read in NYT yesterday: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/26/business/black-friday-falters-as-consumer-behaviors-change.html

Tsujita is supposed to be better than the annex. Let me know if you're free next year :D

Also.. CYBER MONDAY Y'ALL. WHAT ARE THE GOOD DEALS YOU'VE SEEN?

Let's be stereotypes.

Tsujita is OK. Parking can make the experience terrible. Plus, it can be quite a drive.

Never had an issue with parking as long as you accept that parking on Sawtelle itself is pretty much impossible. If you go like a block or two West, there's plenty of residential parking.

Ugh.... I'm so full lol. Doesn't help that I've been taking shots straight with no chaser and now I'm drinking some Jameson on the rocks.

How is everybody doing tonight?

Maybe I pick the wrong days. I've tried that, too, and I still have a difficult time at night (i.e. when sun is down).

The only good day was on a Sunday afternoon.

Why don't we hangout? Lol :p
Austin gaf is lazy. :p

Also, I don't have a car, so my recreation is restricted to downtown.

I had an orphans thanksgiving at work, so I got to avoid the gorge-fest that is usually thanksgiving.
