Assassin's Creed Brotherhood |OT| where my bro's at?

rhfb said:
Can someone explain why the game runs and looks like shit compared to ACII? I'm getting scan lines, popin, unstable framerate, ect when ACII was solid as a rock. Pretty jarring coming off one right onto the next :| Yes, both games were properly installed on my 360.

I noticed this also, though I was playing ACB on the PS3 after ACII on 360. I chalked it up to PS3 getting second consideration, but if the 360 version runs like crap, too...

Rome is a big and busy place, so I can kind of understand it, but still...

Just started playing this game and have a question -- since money is deposited in the bank every 20 minutes, have people just left their game on and came back like 5 hours later with 300,000 more money?

Is there anything stopping that from happening?

AC2 releases in 2009 after 2+ years of development.

AC:B releases in 2010 after 1 year of development.

Just finished this. Fantastic game; the sheer amount of content really proves that AC1 was just a tech demo (at least that's how it felt to me). I skipped AC2. Let's see...

Liked:

-Gorgeous graphics
-Scale of the map is pretty much perfect
-Variety of missions; the Lair of Romulus and Da Vinci's warmachines missions were amazing
-Impressive cutscenes, particularly facial animation and acting
-Combat was very satisfying once you mastered it
-Loved the stealth/infiltration parts
-Sound.....engineering? Brilliant in surround... oh and the soundtrack
-Ending left me wanting more

Disliked:

-Framerate (PS3 :( oh well....at least I'm used to it from RDR)
-Horses - compared to horses in RDR... this is just pathetic; but I guess the engine can't handle high speed? Animation's not too impressive either
-Found myself fighting the controls a lot of the time - autoaim and freerunning

Just played through this recently and I think the AC series has become my 2nd favourite after Metal Gear Solid. Tremendously fun to play both for the story and just simply exploring around. I came to the realization that GTA could learn a lot from this series. I like the direction they took with 4 giving the story more emphasis but they took away from the fun of the game. Here in AC, just getting around is the fun part. The setting is awesome, looking forward to where they take it next and I love the history notes they have.

It's amazing to me how far they've come after the pathetic attempt that was the original Assassins Creed. I can't wait for the next one.

Picked this up on OnLive for $13. Seems much better than the first. I skipped the second. Variety is actually here this time. I don't care about the story.

Put a few hours into the PC version of this now. Way too many "follow me" and escort missions, and 100% Synchronization needs to die in a fire for you to get any enjoyment out of this game. Also, unskippable cutscenes suck. Otherwise, it's fun, but I liked the single-player of AC2 better so far.

One thing brotherhood (PC) has over II (PC) is that it doesn't have retarded LoDs. You can notice the difference very clearly in the cristina missions. This makes the game's cityscape look so much better. On the other hand Rome isn't as interesting as the cities you visit in II. And you don't get to see the impressive interiors until much later on.

Hmmm, this game is pound for pound better than II, a fantastic expansion, but there are some things about it which are just silly. They really don't want to make good combat it seems. In AC1 combat was utterly pointless, in AC2 it got more complex but remained very easy, and in ACB they give you plenty of "win" buttons. Though in ACB's favor, I noticed grabs being more common. Not that it means anything outside the stupid VR missions. The whole process of building up your assassins and the contracts are very boring too.

Going for 100% sync goes a long way and I think the game would have been very boring without it. However they didn't push it enough. To get 100%(or optionally higher) they should have let you stack on rules. A timer, no killing, no detection, no swimming, only kill with x weapon, etc etc. At that point you are dealing with some really good stuff. Sometimes you'd get a rule like no swimming where there is almost no threat of falling into the water, but not so in missions where you are standing all around water. Some missions add a rule in the form that you can't get caught and I'd say these are the best missions in the game. This is why purchasing the Da Vinci DLC is totally worth it. Speaking of which, the Da Vinci warmachines are fucking terrible(worst part of the game), but the part where you are sneaking up to them and destroying the blueprints are really fun.

So if I had a wishlist of what I want to see in the next Assassin's Creed: (Could come in a form of a "hard mode")

-Stack challenges to get 100%(or higher, for fun) sync. Have two to three rules created in place for that challenge to get 100%, then allow players to add universals like timed, no kill, hide bodies, etc.
-Medicine very slowly regenerates health. Maybe stops bleeding/damaged limbs(new mechanic). Have to rely on doctors to get fully healed. (Doctors were pointless in ACB)
-Allow enemies to break weapons if you block too much and do more damage, especially gun fire.
-When overnumbered(4+ to 1), enemies will try to overpowered the player with nonstop attacks(no kung-fu movie stuff), giving you no time to defend. Force the player to either flee or find an way to limit his opponents attacks through terrain. Hell, maybe give them executions if you are sloppy enough and the odds are bad.
-Counters needed to be nerfed in someway. No idea how, maybe require more input or be more situational. As they are now, they make things too easy, especially with the instant kill chains.
-Instant kill chains not a bad idea entirely, since they speed up combat, but they definitely need to have some sort of cost or something.
-As for the third win button, assassins should face limitations similar to(or greater than) mercenaries and etc. It would be awesome if you had to plan out where they could come in advance, mainly for the main story missions, but w/e.
-Lower the amount of ammo you can find on enemies. Makes other sources pointless.
-No more fixed camera angles in lairs/tombs/etc. (Most rage inducing thing about this game, maybe second to driving the tank. It is very, very bad in one of the DLC lairs. The one where you chase that papal guard through the mine or w/e)

EDIT: Oh, this game made Cesare a total bitch, which sucks.

You can skip most of the cutscenes. Just hit start --> skip cutscene.

Just started this up. There's so much more cluster in this game to someone trying to 100% it. I doubt I'm going to anyway. I got the platinum trophy on AC2, but I'm not so sure that will happen on this one (even less likely because there's multiplayer trophies on here...). That being said, I'll keep playing and see how it goes.

Combat system is fine, I don't expect that to improve more. Assassins aren't exactly overpowered, they just fight like normal--smoke bombs, then destroy.

I agree about the fixed camera--their camera designers are pretty good on the whole, but that chase was frustrating. The vehicle missions, especially the bullshit flying machine can go right off a cliff.

Although it wasn't supposed to really work, so I guess that was accurate.

I kinda view AC2 and Brotherhood as one game.

Finished Brohood on PC. I enjoyed it more than the previous game. The problems that I encountered in this were fewer than those in that. Overall, I enjoyed it even though it did feel short.

Also, using Ezio's personal life (Christina missions) as incentive for achieving high completion (75%, apparently?) is a great idea. I'm currently working on that. Pretty sad what Ezio has to sacrifice for the Assassins.

And leave my 100% sync goals alone, please. Single objectives are easy to remember and can be done on first try (most of them). Maybe secondary rules that unlock better equipment?

...what?

Steam said that when I finished the game I had played around 35 hours. How is that short?

Just finished on the PS3. Loved it from start to finish.
Ending felt like a bit of a cheap cliffhanger but I'm really looking forward to AC3 nonetheless.

Even the hardest Borgia Towers are pretty easy once you have some Assassins to deploy. Just get in a cover point near the captain so you can target him, then sick your bros on him.

I was having trouble with some of the 3 star Borgia Towers when I didn't have any Assassins or the crossbow. The crossbow is fucking awesome.

To feel is perception. It felt short compared to the previous game, in which I think I played a dozen more hours.

The crossbow is a bit overpowered I think. Long range, 1 hit kills on most enemies.

Next AC might take during the American Civil War. blueobelix on the official forums found this from one of the game developer's site.

That's what I meant. I can't fathom bothering with 100% Sync on half of the missions because they often times rush you through the mission. If you're looking to explore or collect shit, you can kiss that goodbye on the first run-through, and I'll be damned if I'm going to go through an entire crypt or whatever again just to get a flag I missed. Worthless system, IMO. Still enjoyed 2 more than Brotherhood up to the point I'm at.

I don't think it's worthless. The ones that rush you through a mission are dumb. I'd rather take my time and enjoy. Some of the other ones provide just enough of a challenge to make it more fun. The ones that require you not to get caught are especially fun.

I've only liked a couple of them, but this game has no stealth mechanics, and sometimes the "hold RT to automatically do everything" control scheme causes me to screw up, so I find those particularly annoying.

How long does it take for the entire map to open up? Running into these memory barriers when trying to get viewpoints/towers sucks ass.

Also, getting detected on the final 2% of a no detection for 100% synch mission is just no fun (even more so when this was a replay to get the 100% synch). What I wouldn't give for my second hidden blade :(

That's from the art thing they did where people made artwork of assassins in different eras.

It's from the same book with the Egyptian assassin and all that. They got all sorts of submissions, and this is one of them that was made by a pro artist.

You can get two hidden blades, though. Just buy the second one from Leonardo. That option should be available pretty early on in the game, I think.

I was given this as a gift and have played about 10 hours or so (just got my first DaVinci upgrade). I skipped ACII and want to play it even though it might be a slight step backwards gameplay wise.

Will it be an exercise in frustration going back to play the second game?

Should I stop playing Brotherhood and go play ACII now or should I just finish Brotherhood first?

I'm not too hung up on story/spoilers so knowing what I know from Brotherhood won't impact on my enjoyment of ACII story-wise.

Go play ACII first. Brotherhood is more of a sidestep/expansion than a sequel, so you'll feel right at home.

Playing the PC version right now, just ran into a stupid glitch. One of my liberated districts has retained the "borgia" colors and music. Meh.

Anyway, I just made it to sequence 6 and just like in the PS3 version Lucy has completely vanished without any explanation. :|

Is that the part where she is standing out side? Like in the backyard and you can talk to her? Because I thought that was weird at first too until I found her. I think there was another point later on where she wasn't around and I just figured after the ending that that had do with her sketchy stuff.

Yeah, she disappears after you talk to her outside. I thought this might be "fixed" on the PC version. And the other two don't have any new lines of dialogue either. Developing games in less than a year ftl.

did you see the footsteps leading from the villa in eagle vision, red ones which means enemy. one theory was lucy is a templar and footsteps were hers

That actually does make sense, but what about the weird Minerva person or whatever saying something about balancing the scales? It almost made it sound like she's on neither the Assassins nor Abstergo's side.

shes on the assassins side for her own reasons, desmond can help bring back their civilization.
abstergo's goals directly conflict with hers, so she decided to help the assassins instead.

i think

Has anyone else been having trouble getting the "double assassination while parachuting" achievement? I've done it five times and the game still won't give it to me. Do you need to do it in the Da Vinci Disappearance or something?

So I'm on my way to rank 50 in the MP and do Manhunt almost exclusively but the points are slow. My buddy got 50 in half the time I did. What are peoples favorite game types and load outs for finishing off the last of the ranks?
