Assassin's Creed Movie (Michael Fassbender lead/co-producer)

It's the most logical explanation if it was truly a misinterpretation on Variety's part, and we don't know if that's really what's happening here.

Well, if Ubisoft has as much creative control as this implies, they aren't going to remove the Animus conceit, are they.

It's gonna depend on the director and the screenplay. Chances are high this will still be awful, just like every video game adaptation ever made.

Btw. that's somehow my biggest concern. I think every videogame company sanctioned movie turned out horrible. Just think of stuff like Dawn of the seeker by bioware, or halo legends

Must see:

Great news that Ubisoft are in charge here, it means they can really keep it true to the series and that'd hopefully mean this doesn't turn into just another shitty game movie.

Also Fassbender. :D

Yep. Fass is a great actor, but that won't mean much if the creative forces behind the film are hacks.

Totally on board with this , really enjoyed Fassbender as Magneto :)

and it's about time UbiSoft did some sort of AC Movie!!

The short movie with Revelations was pretty good , so i'd imagine a live action one would be mind blowing , the movie could lead right into a future AC game or they could do it the other way around, Either way should be awesome.

Fassbender is a pleasure to watch and I think he would do a wonderful job as any of the Assassins including a new one we haven't even seen yet.

Finding a slam dunk of a lead is usually how projects get off the ground. With him leading an co-producing I bet there will be a lot of people lining up to make this movie.

about the pop movie: the problem was the director. he said multiple times that he thinks videogames are stupid and he doesnt take them serious. he also thought the pop games were crap and he wanted to make them "better".

if they can get a director that doesnt hate videogames and a decent script, it should be fine.

Fassbender great choice but the big question is who will write and direct ? I like the AC universe I can’t imagine how much of the story you put into the first film.

Maybe he'll play Desmond and some other guy will play 'The Assassin'? Or vice versa? That would be more true to the story...

I rather enjoyed the live-action Assassin's Creed Lineage movie, so hopefully with a Hollywood budget Ubisoft can do something much bigger in scale, and much more awesome.

There was talks of Splinter Cell movie a few weeks back as well. It'll be very interesting to see how this pans out.

Quick, someone 'shop fassbender in ezio/altair attire.

There was talks of a SC movies YEARS back, back in 2004/2005.

As much as I love Fassbender, he's not the first thing that comes to mind for any of the AC leads. But I think they'll probably not do the Desmond storyline for the movie (which is alright with me) and come up with a new character that fits him. The good thing about the AC universe is that there is a lot of room to play around with beyond and around Desmond.

This is awesome news.

He doesn't look Middle Eastern, nor Italian or half Native American. He doesn't look like anything that has ever been an Assassin's Creed main character.

I honestly don't see it but then they were going to choose Mark Walburg to play Nathan Drake so, I give up at this point. Star Cookie Monster as the next Superman for all I care.

Oh yeah, and Prince of "Persia" LOL!

The main character might not be Altair, Ezio, or Connor.

For all we know it might be set in WWII and feature futuristic alien technology and a talking dog. I really wouldn't be surprised. Actually this is honestly what I am expecting. I have zero faith in Hollywood anymore.

Edit:...Actually none of that sounds far fetched even for the game except maybe the talking dog...maybe.
