Marketing deals.

That's 900p? Holy shit that looks good, is the framerate stable? The broll footage we for for our preview is from the xbox one version according to ubisoft, and except for some framerate issues I think it looks quite great. I had to include it in our interview (French only sorry), but you can check it there:

I know, being cpu bound and having to use that would've been fine I mean they both run the same cpu. Fire the PR guy he blows for telling him to say that.
They just said that they're planning to bump the resolution up to 1080p for the ps4 version. It's in the OP.
Ubisoft has given no indication that it has plans to do the same for Unity.
I was expecting 30 frames based on the prior games, so that's no shock.
In terms of the resolution, c'mon now. If they can make it prettier at 900p with effects than it would be at 1080p without any then they made the right choice.
Who cares about numbers, lets just focus on its final quality
Wasn't MS insisting on it that all 3rd party games look identical at launch? Maybe thats why the resoluions will be the same at launch. They can get fucked, they actually admit that the GPU isn't the bottleneck then go on to say that the resolution will suffer anyway. What the fuck does AI have to do with effects done on the GPU.
The problem is not that it's not 1080p. No one would be whining if Ubi went and said "look, we tried, but 900p is all we can get with this new engine". Disappointed, but not pissed off.Wtf is wrong with people.
You see a game that looks cool, that you plan on buying.
And then suddenly its announced its not 1080p and 60fps and suddenly the game is shit, 3/10, do not buy.
I agree that the parity force is stupid, but come on.
Assassin's Creed Unity: united in framerate, united in resolution!
I know why, because of marketing but my real question is why did sony just let go on assassin creed this year? They been promoting the series for years now and they just stopped this year.
ahahahhahah
since when did sakurai work on ass creed?
Should rename the game into Assassins Creed Parity.
I don't know who you are but if this is true then gawddamn. This is in line with what I heard a few weeks ago (MS moneyhat).
WowThis is in line with what I heard a few weeks ago (MS moneyhat).
MS paid parity? Doesn't make sense otherwise.
So what other games have marketing deals with MS? Expect to see more of this.
How does this have anything to do with MS? Am I missing a joke here?
Assassin's Creed Unity will run at 900p/30fps on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Ubisoft has confirmed, with the publisher opting to aim for platform parity to avoid discussion over the differences in performance.
why would anyone buy the ps4version lol
pc should be the version you should get
I'm more interested in the CPU comments. I knew they were weak but if what this guy is saying is accurate, that's pretty disappointing.
Vote with your wallet. Send a message. If everyone goes out and buys the game regardless of this, there will be more forced parity bullshit in the future.Wtf is wrong with people.

"We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff"
So it's all NeoGaf's fault!

while explaining that it's the consoles' CPUs – not the GPU – that prevents Ubisoft Montreal from improving the game's performance.
"Technically we're CPU-bound," he said. "The GPUs are really powerful, obviously the graphics look pretty good, but it's the CPU [that] has to process the AI, the number of NPCs we have on screen, all these systems running in parallel.
"We were quickly bottlenecked by that and it was a bit frustrating, because we thought that this was going to be a tenfold improvement over everything AI-wise, and we realised it was going to be pretty hard. It's not the number of polygons that affect the framerate. We could be running at 100fps if it was just graphics, but because of AI, we're still limited to 30 frames per second."
No, saying you're CPU bound due to the AI for 30fps is something.
Saying you're CPU bound due to the AI for 1080p is bullshit.
Your AI overhead impacts how fast you can process the actions and behaviours so it affects framerate for sure. But it has no fucking impact on the resolution on which you render the game.
If Xbox One is able to render this at 900p, PS4 is able to do it at 1080p. So this is bullshit.
And I seriously doubt it is LEGAL to pay to cripple products on the competition to make yours look better. So we will NEVER get confirmation of any MS deal regarding this.
Because it is borderline legally acceptable, and a pile of horse shit for consumers, and the final confirmation I will never buy a Microsoft/Ubisoft product again.
I know why, because of marketing but my real question is why did sony just let go on assassin creed this year? They been promoting the series for years now and they just stopped this year. Also another question, accepting that microsoft is marketing it on their system how come they couldn't get exclusive content on it? They spent how much to marketing it on their system but no big reason to go with them instead on the ps4 version.
You think mainstream people obsess over differences of resolution, graphical effects between the 2 consoles like people on forums, especially on GAF?
Wait for the sales thread. This game will sell well.
As for me getting all multiplats on pc.
A producer would be privy to the finer details of the co-marketing agreement, a better source for detail I would argue.Yeah, i dont believe they will be the same.
I predict differences in detail and effects handling and/or drops on both platforms.
Its qupte from a producer, not an engineer. I really doubt that their engine engineering team would just lock them both on the same settings.
