No, saying you're CPU bound due to the AI for 30fps is something.

Saying you're CPU bound due to the AI for 1080p is bullshit.

Your AI overhead impacts how fast you can process the actions and behaviours so it affects framerate for sure. But it has no fucking impact on the resolution on which you render the game.

If Xbox One is able to render this at 900p, PS4 is able to do it at 1080p. So this is bullshit.

And I seriously doubt it is LEGAL to pay to cripple products on the competition to make yours look better. So we will NEVER get confirmation of any MS deal regarding this.

Because it is borderline legally acceptable, and a pile of horse shit for consumers, and the final confirmation I will never buy a Microsoft/Ubisoft product again.

In terms of the resolution, c'mon now. If they can make it prettier at 900p with effects than it would be at 1080p without any then they made the right choice.

Who cares about numbers, lets just focus on its final quality

Ah, it won't look any better! I won't be buying this now and if they do it to Far Cry 4 they can stuff that too.

They can get fucked, they actually admit that the GPU isn't the bottleneck then go on to say that the resolution will suffer anyway. What the fuck does AI have to do with effects done on the GPU.
Wasn't MS insisting on it that all 3rd party games look identical at launch? Maybe thats why the resoluions will be the same at launch.

The problem is not that it's not 1080p. No one would be whining if Ubi went and said "look, we tried, but 900p is all we can get with this new engine". Disappointed, but not pissed off.

They announced that they locked out the PS4 on 900p on purpose for the sake of parity. And that's fucking bullshit that shouldn't be supported.

I just don't buy Ubisoft's big release games to avoid all the shitty games and stuff. It's been a solid strategy.
 
They confirm they can get 100fps if it's just the graphics and not the AI, they then lock down resolution by "we don't want to cause debates"... Le sigh.

That's the dumbest excuse i've ever heard. Imagine if this was the attitude between the 360, PS3 & the Wii?


I don't believe this for a second... there may be some sort of contractual obligation that both games must launch with console parity... and the loophole is to release the 1080p patch a day later.

I'm more interested in the CPU comments. I knew they were weak but if what this guy is saying is accurate, that's pretty disappointing.

Yeah. Could be for many reasons though. We all know how poor devs usually are at multi-threading things...

Vote with your wallet. Send a message. If everyone goes out and buys the game regardless of this, there will be more forced parity bullshit in the future.

I don't think anyone in this thread has said "because it's 900p, no buy" simply because of the resolution. It's the fact that they are intentionally gimping one version because of the other side paying them money is what people are upset about.

This is so damn funny. And no matter how bad the PC port will be, it won't be this bad. I hope it will sell really well for the trend that it would set in that case.

The fact that they are gimping the PS4 version to have parity with the XB1 version to "avoid discussion" is obvious bullshit. The type of people who discuss such things will get far more mileage and drama out of this news than they would out of the versions not having parity, which honestly isn't really that juicy of a discussion at this point. It's kind of accepted that PS4 versions of games often have the edge. Not much mileage there.

So what's the reason? What could possibly be the reason? Would MS really pay them to nerf the PS4 version?
 
I know why, because of marketing but my real question is why did sony just let go on assassin creed this year? They been promoting the series for years now and they just stopped this year. Also another question, accepting that microsoft is marketing it on their system how come they couldn't get exclusive content on it? They spent how much to marketing it on their system but no big reason to go with them instead on the ps4 version.

I have a feeling it because AC:U is the first AC game and I think Microsoft does a much better job of supporting these developers with multiplayer and network implementation in games. The sunset overdrive developers who post around here have said this was part of the reason that they decided to work with MS as well.

Also money.

You're right that less enthusiastic people don't care as much. Which is why its absurdly stupid to piss off the people who care a lot and game on the console with double the install base. They gain nothing (except whatever MS gave them) by letting MS tell people the One is just as good to people who know its a bullshit claim. They lose those people and anyone who asks them what games are worth buying.
 
dont really have a problem with this. Shadow of Mordor is around this res and fps on xbox one and it looks perfectly fine. Was going to buy this on ps4, but glad it doesnt matter what console at all now

Yeah, i dont believe they will be the same.
I predict differences in detail and effects handling and/or drops on both platforms.
Its qupte from a producer, not an engineer. I really doubt that their engine engineering team would just lock them both on the same settings.
A producer would be privy to the finer details of the co-marketing agreement, a better source for detail I would argue.
