Assassin's Creed Revelations |OT| Requiescat in Pace (56k)

Yeah right. Look at the first cutscene of AC2, then watch the ending of ACR. The character changed over the course of the games, big time.

At the end of ACR... maybe. He was static the entire time before that though. and annoying. Man, I can't stand Ezio.

<3 Ezio.

The great thing about him, which I think is a real accomplishment and testament to the quality of his trilogy, is how real and human his development is, despite all the unusual circumstances he finds himself a part of. Heck, I feel like I've known dudes like Ezio before. Being along for the ride over the man's life has been a joyous, exhilarating, and heartbreaking experience. So happy to have been a part of it.

As far as Ezio goes, Ubi has a lot to be proud of.

Yeah, Ezio's story is over....and now we're stuck with boring ass Desmond.

At least in Brotherhood he was very Nathan Drake esque (shamelessly, in fact), but that's better than now. But he just killed Lucy so that's something to be depressed over I guess.

But (minor endgame spoiler) I imagine we'll find out what
Ezio said to Desmond at the end. That will be fucking epic, and Desmond will probably repeat it in an action movie moment and something will explode.

So we'll see something of Ezio again, I hope.

Yeah, Desmond really isn't a very compelling character at this point. Rev just made this more apparent by trying to give him backstory when really all it did was put me to sleep. Leave him strapped to the Animus for all eternity, he's more interesting there.

And you might want to spoiler that bit in your second line, for those who haven't finished Bro.

What the fuck

Altair - dynamic character who is always characterized as having no personality

That is something that bugs the hell out of me. He was a great character that was replaced with a frat boy who, in my opinion, is very poorly written and remains static for about two and a half games. I even like Desmond more than Ezio. Totally would have preferred to play as either Giovanni or Frederico. Seemed far more like myself, like Altair.

Ezio makes me think zany tit explosions. Some people like that. Not me.

I'm serious. How exactly did Ezio truly change throughout the games. He was always out to get him some revenge and that... charming?... personality barely changed until he realized he had spent most of his live as a revenge driven idiot in Revelations... and then he goes to get him some more revenge. I don't know. It bugs me.

Don't get me wrong. They did a great job of aging him and Roger Craig Smith did an excellent job of voicing him and altering his voice continuously to make Ezio sound different as he aged.

Don't see Altair is any different in that regard.

What's the deal with 'change'? Why is that so integral to making Ezio a great character?

Don't see Altair is any different in that regard.
Exactly. Altair went through one major character arc. But I guess that makes him 'dynamic'.

The only Desmond's Journey part I liked were 4 & 5, 4 had good music and 5 felt like a fitting end.

I'm certain someone made this as game prototype and Ubisoft just decided to throw this into the Assassin's Creed series.

You know, I never used the ramp piece once while doing them.

Really? I used it almost exclusively. :p

How the hell did you get through the parts where
there was a current going downward?
not sure if that was spoilerable...

Sorry to ask, but what is 56k reference in the thread title?

Any time I wanted to go up while I was being pushed down I would just place a block higher next to the one I stood on and jump on it.

The 56k is a warning to those on slow internet connections as the first post is very image.heavy.

thanks for the clarification.

That seems like it would difficult to manage at times. Even when I was running as fast as I could through the things and trying to place it high I found it was rather inefficient.

You know, past games gave you way too much money, but this one doesn't give you nearly enough. All the chests are full of bomb ingredients.

How's the matchmaking? I remember it taking a fairly long time to find players in Brotherhood. Has it been improved?

Having just come off of getting all the muliplayer achievements, I didnt have much luck finding many matches. I also gave up trying the modes when they were all headless chicken running around matches.

Play Manhunt.

It's one of those things that was fine-tuned well after three games. 2 and Brotherhood, you had so much money that you wouldn't know what to do with; in this one, I still had a decent stack of stuff to buy by the time the game ended.

Just finished the game, and actually went back to start/finish the Da Vinci DLC. Count me in on waiting for 3, but I'm really curious whether Ubi can market and advertise the game without a "hooded assassin" on the front cover for AC3 and make people care.

I have absolutely nothing left to do in single player except buy stuff and I can't afford most of it. I'd basically have to just wait for the bank to fill up, pick a bunch of pockets, and send a bunch of assassins on missions for nothing else other than money. I'm not really interested in grinding.

Just finished the game. Ezio's story was wrapped up quite nicely
and Altair's too.

I was getting bored of AC at the end of Brotherhood but ended up getting Revelations anyway just to see how the story progresses. I'm glad I did; overall, I liked Revelations a lot more, though it still doesn't top AC2.

I'm in the mood for more AC so I've been playing AC II. It's kind of interesting to see how the series has evolved so gradually since then that you don't really notice. :p Like I'm having quite a bit more trouble getting around in AC II than I had in Revelations. I think they implemented some minor tweaks to the free running system somewhere between then and now to make you less likely to run up the wrong wall or be mysteriously unable to climb a certain part of a building. :p Also I didn't realize how much I would miss the hook blade. I hope it's in III.

So I just started playing the other night. Seriously confused at the beginning, and I've been on board since the first game. Who the hell is this dude that's stuck in the animus with Desmond? Why does Desmond look so different?

That's Subject 16. The guy who wrote on Desmond's abstergo cell with blood and left all of those puzzles in ACII and Brotherhood.

When do you all suppose we're going to start hearing about ACIII? E3?

*here's hoping for a MC different from both Altair and Ezio*

Seems about right. I honestly can't wait. I hope they continue the tradition of using a CG trailer for the initial reveal (when they don't accidentally leak it before hand).

I just finished this game a few days ago.

I liked it, but while Brotherhood was praised for being much more than an addition to an existing game, this one really felt like "AC 2.6" (if Brotherhood is 2.5, I suppose). The single player campaign was too short, and the complete absence of the glyph puzzles that were a fantastic diversion in AC2 (and less so in ACB) was a big disappointment. The Desmond puzzles were a pale, pathetic imitation of the old puzzles, which had you scrutinizing the backgrounds of the images and Googling stuff and breaking codes. So much fun, and as far as I can tell, there's nothing like it this time.

Seeing Ezio's story, and Altair's, brought to a close made the game worth playing, though. When Brotherhood came out, I remember thinking that Ezio's story could have been complete with AC2 and that I would have preferred a new protagonist, and then was really upset with the events of ACB's first few chapters, but then when that game finished, it felt too open-ended, so the conclusion in this game felt good.

Constantinople offered quite a few great tall buildings to scale, and some great views, and wandering through yet another lovingly crafted city is always a pleasure. I liked the mixture of Turkish and Greek that you heard from all the NPCs. Ezio's pronunciation of Turkish words is surprisingly good, to my amateur ears.

Multiplayer is a lot more fun this time around. I can't remember the details (correct me if I'm wrong), but in ACB there were few options for the newcomer to ease himself into the game. Basic deathmatches had level-50 juggernauts crushing you with not just their experience and skill, but also with abilities that you wouldn't be getting for a very long time. It added up to a miserable experience in which the noob had no chance whatsoever and would be killed again and again.

In this game, though, "Simple Deathmatch" removes all those abilities and makes the battlefield smaller, so a low-level player has more of a sporting chance. I'm still honing my skills in Simple Deathmatch despite being level 19; I like it because most of the other players have levels from about 1-30, with the occasional level-50 god slumming it.

"Artifact Assault" is my favorite multiplayer mode, though. Noobs can get into it just by hanging around their own artifact and defending it, but the real fun is when you try to grab the enemy's artifact and take it back to your base. The rush of successfully scoring -- I won't forget my first "goal" any time soon! -- beats anything in the single player game!

so i just l viewed the op on my macbook air and all the stuff loaded in about 15 seconds, it all fits perfectly on screen, and the text is perfectly readable

the hate the op got when it was first posted was over the top, screw you gaf

Anyone else addicted to multiplayer in this game? this has to be the most underrated multiplayer game of 2011
Absolutely.
The only game mode I don't care for is Escort, never cared for it in Brotherhood either. Hopefully it's replaced with a better gametype in AC3.

I wonder what other gametypes they could add. One more would be good enough for me. Also, I'm trying to think of new abilities they could add for AC3. Hopefully the smoke bomb stays the only bomb in multiplayer. Haha Imagine if they added datura bombs?

Yup, pretty much hooked! If I have the time, I try to play a few rounds with friends/Gaffers every night.

Is there a regular GAF contingent? How can you arrange to be in games with certain people? Or do you have to friend them first and then do it that way?

I'm on sometimes in the early evenings, Japanese time, with an occasional game after my graveyard shift job around 5 AM (3 PM ET; 9 PM GMT?). Unfortunately that's not a good hour for turning my microphone on; two days ago I was playing Deathmatch with a group of absolutely hilarious Brits and wanted to get my own mike up and running so as to join in the banter!

To be they should give Desmond a vicious streak. I really don't want to go through having this guy do what he needs to do with a guilt trip. This guy needs some fire.

they made him kill the chick he liked, and he didnt seem to upset about it at the end of revelations

desmond's a pussy, the only way they can redeem him is to send him on a psychotic rampage, make up some shit about the animus suppressing his anger until he got out lol

No, it's a horrible OP. It's like an entire website without any of the convenience of being searchable or easily navigable.

It's faster and easier to just search for what you're looking for on Google and find your answer on some random website or GameFAQs thread.
