Lot of details at the link, but the short video demos are below.

CONTROL BASICS

NEW INPUT MAPPING

Returning players will notice adjustments made to the control scheme compared to the most recent Assassin Creed entries, as the crouch and the dodge button have traded places. This simple-yet-crucial change marks an important iteration: the addition of the prone stance and the inclusion of dodge mechanics that lead directly into parkour.

Control_Map.jpg

"In Shadows, dodge has been merged with parkour down mechanics, which unlocks a whole bunch of new parkour moves," says Simon. "This new mapping also disconnects stance-switch (e.g. standing, crouching, prone) from parkour, ensuring you can use any stances without accidentally going down a rooftop when you don't want to."

Some of these new moves performed with the dodge button include acrobatic dodges over railings, out-of-windows jumps, or new silent drop-downs.

Say what you will it looks damn fine to me, especially after having just beat Syndicate. I really hope this take on "parkour down" reallly means fast contextual and/or downward maneuvers rather than requirement for simple edge drops like in every other AC game, which is a horrible idea straight from hell causing nothing but pointless friction.

I don't play any AC since Assassin's Creed 2 and for some reason these animations/parkour looks basically the same or even worse. Maybe I just remember it being better than what really is.

Two things:

- There no need to divide this advertiving into so many videos that really could be ONE video, it shows lack of content.
- Almost all animations are copy pasted from other AC games... and the new animations are absolutelly normal.. Ubi simply does not have anything to show.

The videos were ripped from an article.
If you click the link to the article its alot more cohesive as you get text and video.

New animations are normal?
Thats gotta be one of the greatest critiques ive ever heard.

- Well, there are different videos, with different contents, so thye clear intention is to showcase these animations, so there's a clear marketing goal to try to spread out whatever material they have.
- And yeah, if you are showcasing a gameplay animation, it's better that the animation is question is really game changing. Eg: just imagine if FROM created videos about Elden Ring showing that you can jump (one video) and crouch (other video).. it would be stupid in itself :-D

PSA: all Ubisoft games are the same game with different characters and a different map.

Seriously though, it seems they did some nice work here. However, releasing 7 small video's instead of 1 is the most dumbass marketing ever. Who even makes decisions like this. How stupid are these people.

They arent supposed to be watched on youtube.
Thus them being unlisted.

You are supposed to read the article then get a snippet of what the paragraph described.
Read some more and get a snippet of that paragraph.
Ripping the all and posting them like this makes them seem super disjointed.....but thats not Ubis fault its the OP.

You mean like on the Elden Ring official website where things would seem disjointed if you didnt read the accompanying article?

Flip Flip A Fliperoni!

Ninja's are constantly doing flips everywhere, everybody knows this, it's historically accurate.

Their marketing with these mini videos are fucking awful. Make a few minutes long 4k video ffs
I'm afraid we're in the TikTok marketing era. People are watching video content there, and publishers want to take advantage. These are probably assets posted and unlisted to YT for convenience.

? how...

What AC game could you go prone, cut someone's heel and do a stealth kill in that pose?

What AC game could you back flip to hang off a ledge?

If the "new" animations are "normal" prove it, actually provide real evidence to your point as I'm not sure how some of this could be reused from another AC title when those titles didn't even have prone...

Not trying to be a dick, but some of you literally sound like you are just copying other things you are seeing other posters say, prove your point.

Wow, so now things anything that can be found on other game should be celebrated because it's the first time in a AC game? I mean, are you drunk or something? (and i sae you did not type about the rope, given AC Syndicate :-D).

Anyways, let me ignore you, becase this tantrum is too much :-D

? I mean...by default, they are saying "new" cause it suppose to be new to the IP

No where is this to be assumed ZERO game had prone or that they invented prone or something fucking weird like this lol

Personal attacks isn't going to prove your point any better and it sounds like its best to just "ignore" if facts, logic and actually providing evidence to a point is too much for you man.

Good luck with that

I miss the old AC. These new titles feel disconnected; granted, I haven't played them, but it feels like they're missing the verticality of older games. Is it just because the footage is not very representative?

The last game that I found interesting has been Unity. Big city, impressive tech, great atmosphere.

Bring back Ezio with a great next-gen coat of paint. Renaissance Italy still is the best place for AC. Like a 1:1 recreation of Venice, with interiors and the like.

Okay, I'm done rambling.

I'm convinced Ubisoft hates Yasuke as much as his haters do. Why bother putting him in the game if he is incapable of doing the "assassin" thing to such a bad degree compared to Naoe?

I didn't play Mirage yet so if they copied something it was from there but if not, this looks very different and nice.

I can confirm, the newer games still actually have all that, the just have their cities spread out, you still have tall buildings, castles etc to climb and mountains and shit lol So all that is there.

Its hard for me to say much on the older ones, I never really cared for the IP that much, I hated the first game, liked AC2 and moved on from the series after lol Bought Unity, AC Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla after the fact, like a few years after releases. I don't think I even finished AC Black Flag, I got it as a launch PS4 title and just never finished it.

We might see that after that Black Flag remake. I think they'll start with AC2 based on how much people like that trilogy.

Since lots seem to like Mirage, i feel they'll just dual the series and have that team do the old style and just have the larger RPG ones get done separately or something

They had the perfect formula already, create a male and female version of the same main character. But no, they had to change it for the sake of DEI and ended up giving all the cool shit to one of them and the other is just there for the brownie points. At this point they seem to be actively hiding Yasuke from promotional material, not without good reason.

AC parkour is great, and this looks just as good. Other games still have very slow and annoying traversal systems, eg. FF7 Rebirth, Indiana Jones, etc.

They literally had a combat focused article just last month that heavily featured Yasuke

The key difference is in their builds and weight classes. One is a hulking samurai. The other one is a small ninja who’s understandably more stealthy.

Kinda silly to simplistically reach for ‘DEI’ every time you need to explain something.

Yeah gonna be honest if they would show these videos before I would not be so pessimistic about the game..

They definitely should have wait and show first these version of the game.....

The gameplay is looking pretty good. The movement does seem a bit stiff, but hopefully it will feel fine when you're actually controlling the character. But this game seems like a more realised synthesis between old-school "pre-Origins" Assassin’s Creed gameplay and the new Assassin's Creed open-world RPG formula (i.e. Origins, Odyssey & Valhalla) than any game that's come before it.

Vault overs have been a part of the Parkour Down key combo since Unity. Here, they've basically added swing and ascent animations for the rope, there's nothing special about it. Also the transition from a sprint to front flip pike in the second and third short looks unnatural and jarring. The going prone mechanic looks cool though, so there's that.
