Assetto Corsa: Early Access |OT|

Hm really can't decide which make I should give my vote there are just to many cars I would like Lancia for the Delta/037/Stratos, Honda for the NSX and so on.
I'd prefer a car list over a manufacture one. Does choosing Mazda get us the wonderful 787b or a Mazda3?

I just hope they curate it well.

Outside the box is always welcome, as is anything that has legitimate personality out on track. Whether that's graceful and inviting, or demanding and evil. Just don't bring dull, and uninvolving.

Yeah car list would be more helpful I mean nearly all makes have at least one car I'd like to drive and most of them also have many Cars I don't need in my racing games. Still voted Honda I really want an NSX.

I can't believe we're getting console "sim"-like graphics (shut up, I like their aesthetic) and PC sim-quality driving models in the same game. I have a feeling this will be one of the biggest selling PC sims ever.

Voted for RUF of course, the only valid answer.

I received my G27 today. While it was already extremely fun with a controller, it makes a world of a difference. So much more precision and fun. The only wheel I had in the past was a cheap Logitech Driving Force for the PS2, so I am also impressed by the solid build quality. Also dat 900° steering.

On the fence about GT6, fuck microtransactions.

Everything I've read says the in-game economy has not been nerfed to encourage microtransactions. They're just there for people with more money than patience.

That inspires confidence, but it still stings, I don't really want to support this model. Still, I am sure the game will be great and I would miss out.

Well, I'm of the mind that once it gets intrusive I'm out, or at least won't pay for the microtransactions. THey want to use and push that model for money ultimately, if it's not getting them what they want then there' sno reason to bother.

It's hard keep watching this thread. I finished in November Dirt 2 and Dirt 3, all races, events and World tour on PC.

Now, I can't play both FORZA or GT6 and while the price is okay it's still a bit too much for me right now, I can't wait to try this. My racing needs are getting bigger!

Keep feeding me some screenshots my good fellow GAFfers, it's all I can have right now so I must see more! :)

Steering speed fixed for the 360 pad should fix the majority of the issues. Also, is "saturation control" to do with controls or graphics?

But wow, they are moving along in leaps and bounds. Can't believe the same game I bought in for less than a month ago is the same as what that latest patch includes. Such a small team for such an impressive product (that's not even finished!).

Indeed, best racing game experience I ever had with a gamepad.

I wasn't that impressed with Gamepad experience, but that's probably because I played F4 for a long time with a pad and that game is just perfect when it comes to gamepad controls. If steering speed can be changed though in the new patch you should get a really good experience with a Pad.

Jesus fucking wept. I just played GT6 straight after AC. Never have I had such a polarizing experience, it's like night and day on my wheel.

More angry at my self for wasting my money. Oh well. There is an AC patch today at least.

Is it that bad, 'm contemplating buying it to satisfy my urge for Car porn, never used a wheel on older GT's. I'm not expecting it to be GSC/AC level of great but I'd expect some decent stuff.

But for this weekend the new cars and silverstone should keep me occupied.

You get:

- Wheel weight (not dynamic like in AC)
- Curb
- Collision

and that's it. Literally fuck all else. It's like playing with a glorified pad.

edit: "You've sold your eBay item:Gran Turismo 6 PS3" good.gif

Meh, that doesn't sound good. I think I'll just wait for a proper next gen GT and stick with AC. Only problem with that is lack of online and career mode. Gotta be patient.

What car did you use in GT6? To me all games on the wheel feel identicle just some are stronger resistance than others. And did you go to wheel settings on gt6 and raised FB and changed wheel to simulation mode?

Intro car, Ford Focus and BMW GT car present in AC which sealed the deal to me. Yes, I set everything to max and set it to sim. It felt like a damp squid!

If they can port the AI from GSC2013 over I'll be happy. Online never works on PC sims there simply isn't a community big enough for them.

Hmm, steering speed for the controller? Wonder how that's different from steering sensitivity.

Looking forward to having the full Silverstone track. The International loop is not great, as it skips on the best part of the track(Copse and then the S curves).

I think it stops the wheel going full lock immediately while sensitivity is how far you push the stick for certain degrees of wheel rotation. I'm glad they are putting effort in to supporting the pad. It's how you win people over to using the wheel. :D

Yes I think Sims that have great controller support are a great gateway drug for sim racing, I wanted to wait for a wheel until I knew what will work properly with new consoles, but AC just made me buy one....

Still not entirely sure what means, but I've been meaning to delve into the controller settings here anyways, so I'll figure it out. If its lock-related, I hope that its something that fixes the issue of certain cars having unbearably narrow lock at slow speeds. Like with the Formula car, that one super tight left-hander at Vallelunga has to be taken at a snail's pace and even then I can barely make it around. Shouldn't be like that obviously. Even the X-Bow at Magione, with the one tight right hander before the turn onto the back straight was more difficult than it should be.

You know how to solve that though don't you... ;)

(Seriously though I've still got a Logitech driving force wheel lying around if anyone in the UK wants it).

completely untrue, iracing is amazing online, i'll give you that the rest are weak online in both netcode and online community but iracing certainly isn't and has 4.5k online pretty much every day at peak time

I would be interested, but I don't want another Driving Force. When I can justify it, I'm going to get a decent setup with some good pedals.

Bump because THE UPDATE IS OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT!
Ah nice. Very nice. :)

iRacing is obviously the exception. It's phenomenal. To a degree it's sucked the life out of multiplayer on other sims, but that says as much about the complete lack of ambition from everything else as it does iRacing. Multiplayer being netcode and a server browser is completely archaic, and unacceptable these days. They need to be brought into the 21st Century. Badly. The people are there, they just won't come until it does.

I'd recommend it, it changed the way I view and approach racing games.

I've never mentally registered iRacing when it comes to discussing sims simply because of it's hilariously expensive content and fee system. It's like World of Warcraft charging for content patches on top of it's monthly sub. I know it will upset a few people but I think they are a complete fucking joke and the fact they can still charge a monthly fee, for cars AND for tracks outrageous.

oh this again yay, don't know anyone who pays full price for iracing, its a $50 sub on offer twice a year , oooh so expensive! cars are $12 and tracks are $15 with upto 25% off if you buy 3+ at a time, gran turismo/forza etc prices make these seem a bargain to me, you can also get credit towards the sub by participating in a certain amount of online races, not expensive
