Assetto Corsa -- New racing sim from the developer of netKar Pro

Hopefully it's track/car licensing related and not publisher related. Cause a B&M publisher certainly isn't a plus in my book.

EDIT: *cringes*Wonder if Mclaren got perma'd for that. We might need to elect a new leader of PC-Sim gaf.

Ouch, pissing off bish probably didn't help his case...

I'm sure McLaren777 can find other forums to spread his love of all things rFactor and iRacing. What did he post to get a ban?

He got banned for the first of the following two posts. The second post probably didn't help either.
Hardly. I genuinely like Cain, which is more than I can say about any other candidate.

Plus, I still feel cheated about Obama being the first African-American president. He might have an African father, but he acts whiter than I do. And I'm white.

However he wants.

Random fact: I love black people and I wish more of them lived around here.

Mclaren digs himself into a hole and then keeps digging. Nice work...Enough shitting up this glorious thread with off topic posts, let us recommence the guessing on what the NDA has in store for us.

A tweet was sent from Aristotelis Vasilakos responsible for physics about meeting Ascari again - could this be the corner at Monza, the track in Spain or the car?

This was just posted on RaceDepartment by Stefano: "in AC we managed to handle down to DX10 although, at that level, things like motion blur or antialias are not supported. I am using an old pc to test netcode with a DX10 class nvidia 9800 GTX and it can be set to run >60 fps with one car..it does struggle on the CPU tho, being AC heavy on multithread a quad core is highly desirable" - seems Assetto Corsa will be highly optimised!

That sounds really good given that the game is very much under development. Hopefully it also means is getting closer to release.

Another Italian manufacturer would be great, I'd even love the Abarth 500 to make a comeback in AC (nippy little FWD cars are really underrated in games).

I hope McLaren will not resent me for sharing this, but I am doing this only because of the future of great "PC Sims" thread that he was working on and that should be updated and stay alive by every mean - it is really important for DrivinGaf.

Yes, he was permabanned.

I hope there could be a solution to ask mods to allow some kind of OP modding to someone else - I don't know by what means, but it should be discussed - because OP's should stay prime information point for all.

We should definitely discuss the options now.

A new thread could work?

I guess the activity's gonna drop with mclaren gone, but we just gotta make do and keep thread alive by ourselves.

Just send a PM to one of the mods Amar and ask and if not possible, we should close this thread and open a new one as _machine suggested, that if someone is up to the task.

He was also editor of Gaf pCARS list, right? Another one to consider.

Yeah, if you can't edit the existing threads an "OT2" is fine, just link to it at the end of the "old" thread and ask a mod to close it. If you don't fancy copying all the stuff from the original thread just link to it at the start of the new one.

Don't think it needs to be done for all the sim threads that he made yet but when there's enough new info or updates it's def. worth looking in to.

Did you ever read the OP for this? :P There's an Abarth 500 even in the pictures. I personally really dislike FWD cars in sims, especially if it's over 150hp. All that understeer and lack of grip at the rear under braking, yeeesh!

Holy blackout, how the hell did I forget it? :D

Yeah, I especially liked the interior shots. Would be cool if we'd get the Assetto Corse Version as well.
He was still keeping up with that, never new :P
I thought it was a bit outdated, but I can update it if no one else volunteers, especially since there won't be that many changes coming because the funding's getting closed real soon.

^ What model is that? The same they used in Ferrari virtual academy?

Pretty sure. I saw this being discussed a couple days ago on some forum, but didn't really understand it was positively confirmed by an employee. Think they said it was three years old. Which would be what was in FVA?

Ideally they can get a couple street cars in that too. At the risk of sounding greedy, F1 cars tend to be pretty similiar. So I hope we can get a couple with some real personality.

FVA has two F1 cars: the 150° Italia and F10. The posts above are stating the car in Marco Massarutto's picture is the 2009 F1 car - the F60.

F10 and F60 side profile for reference:

More like developers now achieved what PD did in 2006-2007 (GT HD). Looking at this i wonder what PD cook in their studio for next gen consoles..... o.o

BTW game really looks interesting.

Seeing as they claim to be pushing DX 11 pretty hard, I think it's fair to assume it could possibly be beyond next gen consoles (although limited to a small number of cars and tracks).

If GT could get rid of the aliasing issues and update everything to "Premium" standards, that alone would be pretty great.

Not sure if this is a backhanded compliment or not?

These latest pics are in-game unedited screenshots - Assetto Corsa like pCARS look as sensational in-game as they do in screenshots. GT and Forza look great in photo mode - the in-game isn't anywhere near as impressive. Given Kunos are a 12 person team, what they've produced is simply astounding; If Kunos, Reiza, SMS or SimBin had 1/10th of the budget of a FM or GT game, the results would be mind blowing.

I don't. Maybe its my monitor/PC, switching between them shows no differences.
You're lucky then ;). Neither image is that high res but the compression artifacts are noticeable if you know what to look for. Used to do a lot of Photoshop and gimp editing so I can't help but notice it D:
